    We were laying there, panting, pained, and bleeding a little, when my mind cleared. I realized what I’d done, what I’d tried to do. I had never in my life, thought anything like that. What the hell was wrong with me?

    How could my brain have felt it was rational to beat a female I wanted to mate with into submission? It was disgusting. I was all for a good fight in fun, but I’d been trying to injure her until she couldn’t stop me from marking her. I didn’t know if she’d ever forgive me.
