Kyoko got surprised because of what she heard coming from him making her slid her eyes into his direction from her peripheral view that her grasp tightened to the trophy.
“To be honest, I should be the one to proclaim champion here and you do not belong,” he muttered in deadpan.
“This guy is full of his ego. Doesn't he know what sportsmanship is? This is the first time that I met someone on his self-esteem enthusiasm. Horrible,” she said into her subconscious. “Do you think I like this either? We're just the same. Why don't you just be happy about it? This is for our country,” she whispered questionably because of the ambiance he is giving.
“Everyone knows who is the champion here and that is none other than ME,” he emphasized that he is maintaining his voice.
“Arrogant," she told on her mind.
“You are assuming." He continuously bullying her.
“Why are you like that? Don't you have sportsmanship?" she asked directly without glancing at him.
“Sportsmanship?" He smirked for a second then, he went back to a poker face again. “That's ridiculous. Sportsmanship is for losers only,” he affronted.
Meanwhile, Jen saw that smirk off her son, and because of that, she grinned quietly.
“However, this would be better than to say that I am selfish. I don't want to happen that and I don't want to be called like that. If a person like you would be the one to receive an honor for each of our countries then that would be ashamed,” he insulted.
She exhaled deeply because of the furious she's having that her fists are quivering while she’s having thoughts of wanting to beat someone down at the moment.
“This is horrendous. He is horrendous. He should be thankful and I have good manners that I learned from my Granny or else-" she told in the back of her mind.
But she stopped in the mid of her sentence when she felt pain inside of her brain.
“Ouch,” she whined inside of her consciousness.
“I don't know how you get in here. People like you, the same as you have no right to be here,” he continued murmuring.
But unfortunately, she’s not heeding what he is saying because she's busy calming herself. She then ignored the pain eventually and she pretended that everything is fine without someone noticing her. With that, she stood up straight, eyes in front, put on a poker face, and confidently grasped her trophy.
“Well...I am saying that you are selfish,” she muttered in return as she recalled their argument. “You are too arrogant." She deepened her voice to sound intimidating.
Because of what she said Yuki slid his eyes in her direction peripherally without turning his head and body on her to gave her a look while she's relentless.
“How pity you are,” he said poker-ly facing forward. "You are pathetic and stupid. I don't know why people are calling you a genius.” he whispered.
“What?"
She was surprised and so, she grimaced and twisted her head at him but she control herself not to explode in front of too many people or they will all witness her devil's side. Hereafter, she is walking down backstage, and still, her mind was conceiving in the thought of that arrogant guy she doesn't like that's why her forehead, eyebrows, and also her lips were creased. And because of too much thinking of Yuki, she didn't behold her elder brother who is approaching her.
“Congratulations, my younggy,” Ryota greeted his younger sister happily.
When he got to stand in front of her. Anyway, Kyoko tilted her head and their eyes met and his smile faded away suddenly seeing his younger sister's facial expression.
“Oh, why? Is there something wrong, my younggy?" he asked worriedly.
“It's just annoying, onii-chan,” she harshly said.
And she glared beside her while envisaging that arrogant guy’s face she used to call from now on.
“So boastful. Who does he think he is? This is the first time that I met someone who is prideful and arrogant like him!" she almost shouted at her elder brother because of the rage feeling she has.
“I wonder who that is? I mean, he." He grinned instead.
Suddenly her facial expression lessened its contraction and she stared at him with wonder. While he placed his right hand to the top of her head and grinned charmingly.
“Whoever he is that made my younger sister got mad, I am thankful to him because finally, I saw the old you again after four years have been passed without any expression,” he proudly told.
Her eyebrows went back to normal after he talked and she just gazed upon him blankly when his phone ring and because of that he removed his hand from her and for him to get the phone into his trouser. Rina, their Mom is calling.
“Hello,” he answered the phone. "Yes? Yes. She's actually with me right now and I am happy..."
HE pauses and turned his stare at her with his sweet grin that surely every girl will fall into but not Kyoko because she's quietly staring at him too.
“To see her again, finally. The old Kyoko I knew,” he declared with his magnificent smile.
And then, he gave the phone to Kyoko without any words to say. She placed the phone beside her ear anyways.
“Father?" She expected.
“No, Kyoko. It's your mother,” Rina introduced herself in the other line.
When Kyoko heard the voice that she loathed without any speech to say she gave the phone back and left with her beautiful poker face, indeed. Ryota laterally turned his body to follow her then, he put the phone in the side of his ear again.
“Sorry, Mom.” His voice became melancholy.
“It's okay." Rina's voice croaked at the end and seems like she's going to cry. “I know she's still not forgiving me so, I understand."
Later then, Kyoko is in the room where she is based and she’s fixing her things in a suitcase when the doorknob was being twisted and Ryota got inside with the phone beside his ear.
“She's fixing her things,” he said to the phone while walking towards her.
And then, he stopped in front of her to extend his arm at her to give away the phone.
“It's Dad,” he assured.
She stopped what she's doing and straightened her back to face her elder brother and get the phone from his hand.
“Dad?" she asked for an introduction without any reaction.
“Congratulations, Kyoko,” Yuta greeted happily in the other line. "After the victory, what will you do or your plans next?" he questioned.
“My plans? My first plan is to go home, Dad,” she directly answered.
Meanwhile, Ryota frowned while staring at his younger sister.
“What?" Yuta deepened his voice because of surprise. “I thought you'll spend a lot of time with your elder brother? What a sudden change? Why do you want to go home early?" He threw three questions confusingly.
“I have my reason why I want to go home early. Let's just see each other tomorrow morning. Thank you, Dad. Bye,” she explained briefly and hanged up giving back the phone to Ryota and resumed her work.
The silence hugged them both because Ryota is quietly gazing at her without spitting any words because of his curiosity.
“Why so sudden?" He then broke the silence.
“I want to go home early because I have someone to look for and let him pay for what he has done to me,” she hardly declared while fixing her things.
“Revenge will not set you free. It's not good and you know that. I thought I'm going to spend the whole winter with you but it's ruined now,” he emotionally told.
And so, she straightened her back to face him seriously.
“Why, onii-chan? Why don't you just go back home and continue your study there? What's stopping you from doing that?" she snapped out.
“This isn't the right time for you to know the answer to your very own questions. You will know it at the right time,” he responded.
“And when will be the right time occur?" She pointed trying to reveal something.
“I'll tell you someday if you fully understand everything. If-" He cut himself from talking and they both stare at each other despite their height gap. He sighed. “Okay, fine. I surrender." He raised his two arms in the air as he surrendered and then, he put it down. “You can go now. You have my consent to go home. If you want to go home it's okay for me and whoever that person you'll going to find I won't ask anymore. Just..." He pauses for a minute and took a step closer towards her and touched her top of the head again. “Be careful." He then changed his mood and sent her a sweet smile. "I don't like you to be hurt again,” he told when he remembers something
While her expression suddenly changed and she just quietly staring at him.
“I'm going to miss you, my precious younggy. Although we won't be able to see each other again for a long time I will always be connected with you." With that, he closed the gap between the both of them by kissing her into the forehead eloquently. “Be safe always,” he murmured.
“I'm going to miss you too, onii-chan,” she spoke warmly with her eyes close.
She then hugged him and he did the same in return. After that, he put a space between them but still on his arms, and with that, he gave her a peck into the lips softly and they embraced each other again.
“Sorry onii-chan for my attitude,” she apologized still in each other's arms.
“That's nothing. You know that I can't get mad at you because you are my precious, beautiful, and lovable younger sister,” he enunciated lovingly.
Eventually, at the airport, Kyoko and Ryota bid goodbye to each other. Afterward, Kyoko got inside of the airplane and took a seat beside Yusuke who greeted her but she just snubbed him. She took a small book in her small shoulder bag but when a familiar countenance got her attention, she twisted her head and she captured the face of her mortal enemy. Yuki anyways is reading a small book in serenity at the side.
“You.." she mentioned with her broad voice.
“Your brain needs a sharpener," Yuki said irksomely while reading.
“Yeah, right. It was you. YUKI VENN L. FRANCISCO,” she annunciated that she emphasized his full name and sharpened her eyes at him.
On the right side, Yusuke, however, turned his head in their direction.
“You are the arrogant, selfish, and prideful guy who said that I am stu-" She didn't finish her sentence.
“Why, isn't true?" Yuki interrupted.
And, he turned his head in her direction and they stared at each other intimidatingly.
“YAMASHITA KYOKO,” he finalized by saying her full name too.
They both became quiet and just stared at each other with their dagger looks. She gritted her teeth just gazing at him.
“You are stupid and pathetic. I hate women like you,” he blurted solemnly and he returned from reading like nothing just happened.
While she became furious that her grip tightened in the book and she is gritting her teeth. On the other hand, Yusuke is looking at both of them back and forth. An announcer spoke after and said that the airplane will take off so, everyone put on their seat belt. During the flight, she couldn’t concentrate on reading because of him while he's just sleeping at the side.
After half of the 24 hours and a half of one hour have been passed, the airplane landed at the Japan airline but before Yuki and Kyoko separated they both looked at each other and glared at one another for the last time. On the other side, before Yusuke left, he turned his body to see where Kyoko is but his mood changed when he saw her with Yuki. He stayed and stared at them both from afar.
