8. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Nightfall, Yusuke, and Natsumi are in the conference room together with all of the scientists and researchers. He stopped to tilt his head and looked at her.

“Where is Kyoko?"

“She went to the washroom."

“I see,” he replied then, he pressed his lips together before talking again. "Natsumi?"

“What is that Yusuke?" She took a quick look at him and resumed listening to the speaker.

“On the near Graduation Ball, can you induce Kyoko to come even though she already terminated it?" he requested.

She looks at him. "Yusuke...you know that there's no one that can change Kyoko's decision even me,” she truly said shrugging off her shoulders once in the last two words she mentioned.

“Please Natsumi, I'm begging you. Just for now,” he pleaded.

“Before I agree although it would be impossible I will still try it but, I'm just wondering why you want Kyoko to the Grad. Ball?" she wondered.

“Um. I have this idea in my mind that I will say my true feelings for her and I know that you know what I mean to say here although I didn't explain it to you, right?" He gestured with his eyes that look like it explains everything.

“Yeah, I get it. Fine, I will do anything in my power to induce her even it is impossible and I don't know if I can change her decision,” she answered with doubt.

He grinned and she did the same. In the meantime, Momoko, Nathan, and Yuki were also listening to the speaker in front of them when Yuki stood up to go out of the room. Meanwhile, Kyoko just came out of the washroom when she saw Yuki walking towards her. As usual, she put a fierce face not looking at him while continued walking while he has a plain facial expression. They came across to each other without words coming out out of their mouths but after three steps he speaks.

“Hey,” he called.

When he spoke he stopped walking and she did too. She twisted her head where the voice came and he did too, looking at her.

“I didn’t expect that you are still here,” he mentioned and approached her with his unreadable facial expression.

While one of her eyebrows arched in his remark. “Likewise. What are you doing here?"

“You don't care,” he answered.

“Useless." She rolled her eyes and frowned.

“I have news for you,” he acknowledged. "The graduation will be set two weeks from now and in May we will have many competitions to overwhelm. In short, endless competition and I will always see that ugly face of yours,” he taunted effortlessly.

“Oh, shut up ugly duckling!" she grimaced. "There's no problem to me because I will make you believe that I AM BETTER THAN YOU." She pointed him when she stepped half of the meter towards him. “And I'll prove to you that it's just me and always be me who'll proclaim champion. THE ONE AND ONLY CHAMPION,” she mocked into his face.

In return, he smirked then he stooped his head to chuckle.

“Why are you laughing?" She pulled herself backward away from him.

“Nothing,” denied it but still laughing with his stomach. Nothing? Then, why are you laughing! You are weird."

He tilted his head to stare at her. "Why, is it bad to laugh?" he sarcastically asked in return.

“Yes, it is!" she frustratingly shouted.

Although they were the only people in the hallway, she gritted her teeth and look around to walk away from him.

“Hey! Where are you going?” he said still laughing.

“Away from you, i***t!" she yelled without even a glance.

“Don't turn away from me, woman!" He chased after her who is now walking along the hallway. "I know you are just stupid but that doesn't mean you'll turn back from our competition. You are just proving to yourself that you are STUPID,” he insulted her while walking at her back.

When she stopped walking that's why he did the same. She turned to face him and gave him a fearless face.

“You know what, you are annoying and for correction, I AM NOT STUPID!" she irritatingly screamed.

And they both glared at each other as they exchanged knives with their eyes.

“If a while ago there were a lot of people around then, now it's just between YOU AND ME and nothing else." She gritted her teeth.

“I just want to remind you. Weak people take revenge while strong people forgive and intelligent people ignore. Me? I am intelligent so, I won't deal with you because I'm still in my conscious but if you will taunt me like what I always do to you..." He pauses and puts a playful smirk on his lips for him to tease her. "You won't insult me because I AM NOT STUPID,” he emphasized with him a broad voice.

“You are annoying!" she stressful-ly shouted and she whacked him.

“Hey!" he exclaimed when he got hurt.

“Hey, your face! I hate you!" she yelled and continued hitting him with her bare hands while he's taking all the pain. “I hate you! I hate you! I do hate you!" She kept on shouting.

“Stop it! It's hurt! Stop it! Hey!" he continued claiming. "I said stop it!"

And that’s when he got mad and because of that he grabbed her two wrists and took her back against the wall.

“Let me go! Get off of me!" she screamed while she is trying to escape from his grip.

“Shut your mouth first,” he demanded.

And, she shut her mouth as he instructed. They gazed at each other deadly.

“Good dog." He smiled teasingly.

“Good dog your face!" she mocked into his face angrily. "You know what, I do hate you!" she blurted.

“Why, when is the first time you said to me that you like me?" he suddenly asked seriously in a very cool voice.

She became quiet because of that question and his reaction but then, she wiped it off and smirked while staring at him.

“And why would I like you with your arrogant, cold, cool, prideful, stubborn, sensitive..." She slowly leaned her face towards his to get into his nerves. "Elusive, serious, elegant, and prodigy attitude of yours?" she mocked directly into his face without hesitation.

“We're the same,” he replied calmly.

“The same? We?" She gave him a confused look. "No, we're not the same." Then, she moved closer into his face. "I will never be like you,” she protested and glared at him sharply.

“I didn't say we're alike. I just said we're the same. It's different,” he contradicted for correcting her interpretation.

She rolled her eyes disgustingly. "Whatever,” she muttered.

“Anyway, I have a question for you,” he brought out the topic.

That makes her turn suddenly at him again, directly into the eyes.

“Why are they calling you a 'Goddess'? What are their bases and they called you a 'Goddess'?" he curiously asked out of nowhere.

“What a stupid person you are and stupid questions created by you,” she countered back.

But then, his facial expression didn't change for a response.

“The only answer to your questions is, they called me a 'Goddess' because I AM UNIQUE,” she honestly told.

On that answer, his face changed into an 'impressive look’ and loosened his grip on her wrists.

“Even I have six duplicate faces in this world, I am unique in my way and that makes me what I am,” she confidently told.

And when he didn't respond for a minute, she gave him a look.

“What?"

“I didn't expect your answer,” he shortly replied.

“Didn't expect? Why, what do you expect? Maybe you are expecting that I will say 'I'm beautiful', but you are wrong,” she pouted.

His eyes widened in mere millimeters because of her words most of all when she said, 'You are wrong’. Those three words kept on repeating in his head because for the first time someone said to him that he was wrong.

“Maybe you are thinking that only look does matter in a Goddess but you are wrong Mr. Prodigy. I know what you are thinking and whatever you have in your mind about me, I repeat, YOU ARE WRONG,” she arrogantly declared few centimeters away from his face.

On the other hand, Momoko is walking in the hallway to look for the restroom and when she saw the signage, she continued walking but her feet stopped involuntarily because she saw Yuki and Kyoko together. She immediately hid herself to the side of the wall and peeked to watch and to eavesdrop at them.

“A 'Goddess' didn't imply in her beauty only but rather, she called a 'Goddess' because she has the characteristics that everyone adored instead."

“And what do you think are the characteristics you have and they called you a 'Goddess'?"

“Kindness,” she effortlessly and confidently replied.

Once she dropped the word, he laughed out loud and he released his hands from her wrist then, he put his two palms against the wall to corner her between his arms.

“You know what, I hate you when you are laughing,” she irritatingly said while he burst into laughter. "Ugh! Stop laughing!" she commanded him but he's not listening.

“What are they doing? And what are they talking about and, he's laughing hard like that? This is the first time I saw him like this,” she muttered into herself while watching them.

“What's funny about what I said?” Kyoko madly asked narrowing her eyes at him.

Then, he tilted his head to face her while laughing and he held her two shoulders.

“That's what I called a joke,” he responded to her eye level while continuously laughing. "Kindness?" And then, he became serious while glaring at her. "You're not kind,” he said just 3-5 cm. away from her face.

Whilefrom afar, Momoko can see how his eyes are dazzling for Kyoko.

“This is the first time. His eyes are dazzling. All are new to me. Are they IN into each other?" Momoko whispered into herself.

"Get off of me." Kyoko raised her two arms to remove his hands from her but he didn't let go. "You don't know me very well so, don't underestimate me and for your information, all people have a good and bad side. It's just only you and YOU who have..." She pauses for a second and puts her face near into his. "Bad side. Take note of this, not all the things in this world can be calculated because there are things that we do not expect. Anticipate the unexpected. You understood?"

But he didn't reply and just stared at her tranquility. So, she rested her head against the wall and breathed but she didn't put down her guard. She calmed down.

“There are a lot of people who say that we're the same in everything, you know that? But on a contrary, that's not true because you...you are basing yourself on the things around you so that excitement disappeared. But for me?" She smiled sweetly without madness while staring at him who is now gazing at her silently. “I don't care what's happening to surround me because I just let things happen,” she proudly and sweetly declared.

“You are unbelievable. Impressive,” he mentioned and he showed his charming grinned towards her.

“Yeah, I am impressive than you." She grinned back and at the same time, she chuckles. "Because you, you do not h—"

She didn't complete her sentence when he came down and kissed her into the lips. ♪YOU'RE MINE theme song♪ She was surprised that her smile fades away and she blinked many times for her not to think that she's not dreaming while his eyes were closed. Momoko by the way didn't expect what she is seeing that she felt like her heart is breaking into pieces, and because she cannot take it anymore, she left. Thereafter, he opened his eyes and pulled away to face the surprised and confused Kyoko but on the same side, he's also surprised and confused about what he did. She broke the gaze between the both of them and looked in the other way and she put down her arms involuntarily.

But according to their eyes, they were both questioning one another while glancing with each other and when their eyes finally met, they stared at each other quietly.

“Anticipate the unexpected,” he cut the silence in the air, and from that, he walked away from her but after three steps he stopped. “By the way, I do not even care as well if you'll be my competitor because whatever you do, you'll not be able to defeat me,” he insulted for the last part and left.

“What?" she wondered while looking at him. “How did he say that to the person he just kissed? Wait, what?" She became more confused. "He kissed me? He kissed me,” she recalled when she touched her lips subconsciously.

After Yuki taunted Kyoko he walked going back to the conference room and while walking he touched his lips and he smiled remembering what happened between him and her.

“I’ve been wanting to do that. I gotta say her lips are soft,” he subconsciously commented.

And then, he went inside that after a minute, Kyoko followed and their eyes met even they are far from each other. They both looked away when they realized they are staring at each other for long but they can’t help to throw one another a glance every second.
