Chapter 08

IN THE BIG hospital of Klinik Sankt Moritz, Aliana and Matthias were with Lucille who took the kid with the nother superior for her upcoming surgery to cure her brain tumor. Lucille had just taken her inside the ICU, and Matthias was just outside it, restless as he walked back and forth.

Aliana could see that Matthias was worried about Lucille's upcoming surgery so she approached him and pulled him to sit on the chairs on the side of the ICU where he stared at her.

"Just calm down okay? Lucille's operation will be successful, as I know this hospital is one of great hospitals here in Zouz, Switzerland.” Aliana said to Matthias who sighed slightly.

Aliana could tell that Matthias was her new friend during her vacation in Zouz, except for Lucille, and the children at the orphanage. Aliana immediately felt relieved with Matthias that they had a different impression of each other and Matthias no longer scolded her.

"Sorry, I just can't help but worry about Lucille's surgery. I know the doctors at this hospital are good, I just can't help but worry." said Matthias.

"Lucille will be fine, and after her surgery, there is no threat of a tumor on her. When she's okay, you can play your violin for her, then I'll paint the two of you."

"Thank you for making me calm in this situation, I appreciate that." Matthias said making Aliana smile.

"You can't worry about that, I understand you're worried but everything will be fine."

Matthias nodded at what Aliana said, they sat side by side in the chair waiting until Lucille's surgery was over. The mother superior approached them to say hello, when the two of them were on the bench again, Aliana's cellphone rang. She immediately took it and when she saw who was calling, she smiled slightly and answered it while Matthias looked at her.

"Hello?"

"Atlast, I contacted you. Do you still recognize me?”

“Davidson, right? Ofcourse I remember you, it seems you were too busy to contact me just now.” Aliana smiled.

"Yeah, business trips are sometimes a pain in the ass. But yeah, I got time to call you Aliana. So how are your days in Zouz?”

"It's fun, I'm enjoying it." Aliana replied that Matthias took his eyes off her before standing up from where he was sitting, causing Aliana to look at him.

Matthias walked away without saying a word, causing Aliana to stand up from her seat.

"I was thinking, I know we just met and we didn't talk that long at the airport but, if you need a companion on your vacation, I can go straight there. I can be your good buddy in your trip.”

"Thank you for the offer Davidson, but this vacation is for me to enjoy Zouz alone. Maybe when we see each other again." Aliana said looking at the hallway Matthias was walking.

Where is he going? Aliana said to herself when she couldn't see Matthias anymore so she returned to her seat.

"Then maybe next time, I'm hoping to meet you again."

"The world is small, I'm sure we will meet and we will meet." said Aliana when she heard someone calling Davidson who she thought was with him.

"You seem to be busy, go ahead. Goodbye.”

"Goodbye, see you soon Aliana."

When Davidson disappeared from the other side of the line, Maya leaned on the bench and looked at the door of the ICU.

“Here.”

Aliana immediately turned around without noticing that Matthias had returned and was holding a coffee in front of her.

"The coffee in this hospital is expensive, good thing that the money I have is enough for two cup of coffee."

"You shouldn't have bothered, but thank you for the coffee." Aliana smiled as she took the coffee that Matthias held before returning to her seat next to him.

"So, who called you?" Matthias asked.

“Ah, I met him at the airport before coming here. We exchange contacts, it just happened that he had time to call me." answered Aliana.

"Is that so."

"Matthias, may I know where you are staying now after you left the orphanage?" Aliana asked as Matthias leaned on the bench.

"I rent a small apartment not far from the orphanage, and I can eat three times a day by playing the violin in different places. I left the orphanage to stand on my own two feet, to fulfill my dream." replied Matthias.

"You know I admire your passion to get your dream, I also want to do my passion, but I know I can't because I have to obey my parents."

"You can still change your mind and do what you want, don't let your parents stop you in your dreams." said Matthias as Aliana just smiled at him before changing their conversation.

They were just talking about the beautiful places in Zouz, when they turned around at the same time when the door of the ICU that they waited together opened, they both stand up and walk closer to the doctor where he was also talking to the mother superior.

"How was the child's operation, Doc?" asked the mother superior while Matthias and Aliana waited for an answer.

"You have nothing to worry about, the operation was successful, and we will know the other results of the operation when she wakes up. All in all, she's safe." the doctor's news made the mother superior happy.

And because Aliana couldn't contain her joy at the good news, she hugged Matthias, who was slightly stunned.

"The operation was a success, Matt, Lucille is okay." Aliana blurted happily as she left Matthias' embrace to look at it, but they were both stunned by the closeness of their faces to each other, when Aliana felt a quick beating of his heart.

Wh-Why did my heart beat so fast? Aliana wondered in her mind as she and Matthias both couldn't move where they were standing, while they didn't notice that the mother superior was looking at them.
