THEY SHOULD LIVE WITH ME

2011
Mariam’s P.O.V. “What are you thinking about her operation then?” I looked at Demitry when his grandfather put the question in front of him after Demitry told him about Rehaana’s present condition. Her condition was deteriorating day by day and she needed the transplant as soon as possible. “There is nothing to think on this matter, grandpa. I already have asked Dr Reynold to arrange everything for her operation”, he informed him briefly and I looked back at the old man. He nodded and then looked at me. “Are you sure, Mariam that you want to do this in this condition?” his grandfather asked me in a calm tone. I simply nodded in agreement. The only problem that we had right now was that my back was still not healed. In this condition, it was a bit risky to donate bone marrow but I was willing to take this risk. She couldn’t wait for one more month. Her life was already at risk and I didn’t want to increase that risk more just because I was not healed properly. “You know the risk, right?” grandfather again asked me and I smiled this time. “Dr Reynold has already explained me everything, grandpa. I am willing to take this risk to save her life”, I said in a calm tone and he smiled this time. He leaned back on the backrest of the couch where he was sitting right now. Demitry was sitting on the bed near me. I was also sitting but Demitry made sure to provide proper support to my back. “There is one more thing, Mariam that I want you two to know”, he looked at Demitry this time and both I and Demitry exchanged a look. “What is it, grandpa?” Demitry asked him while holding my hand. I didn’t know why but I was not having good feelings right now. Whatever he was going to tell us was not a piece of good news. “I know that you have investigated her accident and also what result you got”, grandpa crossed his legs while giving a mysterious pause. My heart started thudding against my ribcage. I could feel the tightness around my fingers. “Someone doesn’t want Mariam to go through this operation”, he paused again and I gasped in shock. My eyes widened in shock. I was looking at grandpa with shock and disbelief. “Relax…. Love… everything is alright”, I heard Demitry comforting me but I felt that I was not able to take a breath right now. He wrapped his hand around my shoulder and the next second, he was sitting beside me. He put my head on his chest and wrapped his hands around my body protectively. “Breath”, I heard him commanding and this time I closed my eyes. Before closing my eyes, I saw a hint of worry on grandpa’s face too, but that could be my hallucination. That old man never showed his true emotions. There was no way that he would be worried about me. After, I didn’t know how much time, I came back to my senses. “I will see what I can do in this matter, grandpa. I assure you that I will keep both my women safe”, I didn’t open my eyes but processed whatever they were talking right now. “I will instruct my PA to mail you all the details of the investigation that I held on her accident. You know how to deal with this situation, Demitry. The operation will be held in our mansion. We can’t risk their lives in their most vulnerable time”, my heart was still racing a marathon. Demitry was now rubbing my back gently. “I agree with you, grandpa”, Demitry said in a calm but cold tone. I couldn’t see his face but I knew that he had masked his face again. “Rehaana has to stay in the bed for almost a year after the operation. I will arrange everything for her there”, grandpa spoke again. There was silence in the room for a few seconds. I opened my eyes slowly and looked at Demitry. He looked down at me and kissed my forehead. “I don’t think that will be necessary. She can come back here any time. I will arrange everything for her here and also Mariam will also be here for her”, Demitry said and the old man laughed this time. “You are right, Demitry that Mariam will be here for her but who will be here for Mariam, huh?” he almost taunted Demitry and his grip on my shoulder tightened immediately. “I agree that we are not on good terms, son but don’t forget that you are the only son of my late elder son and only heir of this empire. You have enemies more than friends. They already have tried to harm you and Mariam. She is in more danger now because she is your wife”, he paused again and took a deep breath. I knew what he was trying to tell us here. Demitry didn’t stay at home for a long time period. He has to travel across the world at any time for business and other stuff. His enemies could strike behind his back on us. “I have kept them safe till today, grandpa and I will keep them safe ever till my last breath”, Demitry said in a determined tone. “I have no doubt on your capabilities, Demitry but things have changed now. Soon, Mariam will be pregnant with your child and I don’t want any danger for my great-grandchild”, he looked at me this time and I blushed harder this time. “Am I right, Mariam? You are willing to bear Demitry’s child, right?” he asked me bluntly and I lowered my eyes while blushing hard. I heard him laughing again and it made me hid my face in Demitry’s chest. “She didn’t say a word, Demitry but cleared her intention with her cute blushing face”, I could feel a hint of tease in his words and it turned my face completely red. “It can wait, grandpa. Mariam also needs time to heal properly before bearing the pregnancy”, Demitry said after a short pause and I looked up at the old man again. I didn’t know why he was talking about children here. Our main concern here was Rehaana, not me or my child. “I agree with you, Demitry and that’s why I want her to stay with me at my mansion with Rehaana. There I can take good care of both girls in your absence and don’t forget …. That mansion is your first home where you were born and spent your whole childhood”, he gave me a stern look to Demitry. Once again there was silence in the room. “We will discuss about this later, grandpa. Right now… we need to take care of Rehaana first”, Demitry tried to change the topic and I was really grateful that he was doing this for me. “Yeah… my precious daughter comes above everyone. Inform me if you want any of my help”, he said and took a deep breath. He looked at his wristwatch once again. “I think… I should leave now. I have to meet Rehaana too”, he looked at us and Demitry nodded. He slowly released me from his embrace and I tried to sit up straight. He helped me in my posture and then stood up. Grandpa also stood up from the couch and came near to me. He sat down near me and raised his hand. He stroked my head gently which was now covered with a scarf. My hair were still very small to remove the scarf. “One thing that I promise you, Mariam”, he was looking at my head while stroking it gently. He looked back at my face again. “Whoever is responsible for bringing you in this state did a grave mistake. You became precious to me when you decided to marry Demitry. I won’t deny that I didn’t have second thoughts about you. It’s not easy for a normal girl like you to accept an exceptional case like Demitry. We are not going to discuss the reasons why I am saying this”, he chuckled and I nodded too. I looked at Demitry who still had a poker face. “Thanks for helping Rehaana, child. You are truly a blessing from heavens for us”, he leaned towards me and then kissed my forehead gently. He stood up after that and smiled at me. “Take good care of yourself, child. I will come again”, he said and I nodded. “Thank you grandpa for your blessings. Please take care of your health too”, I said to her and he nodded. “I will take you to Rehaana”, Demitry offered and then they both walked out of the room leaving me alone in the room with so many questions in my mind. I took a deep breath and then closed my eyes. I felt a headache now. Someone wanted to kill me because I was going to donate my bone marrow to Rehaana to save her. I didn’t understand what should I do now. Whether I should be worried for myself or for Rehaana? I opened my eyes and looked out of the window on the other side of the room. The sky was clear and there were some white clouds floating in the sky. It was still noon. I was glad that Warrick and Valerie were not behind this accident or else I didn’t know what I was going to do with them now. After withdrawing my support from his business, he was already broken and I had so many other plans to bring him on his knees before giving them to the police. For Valerie, I had other plans. Warrick was not related to me by blood but Valerie…. She was my sister. I couldn’t forgive her for what she did to me and my mom. Now, I had to deal with some hidden enemies too. I was now really worried for my mom and Rehaana. “Hey”, I looked in the direction of the voice and smiled when I saw Rosy coming inside the room. “Hey”, I greeted her back and tried to sit up on my own. “You are looking exhausting”, suddenly her face changed and she asked me with concern. “Nah… I am okay”, I tried to shrug off her but she raised her brows at me. I didn’t look at her again. She crossed her hands in front of her chest while looking at me. “Okay… I got a panic attack”, I said in defeat. She was my therapist and I knew that she had every right to know about my psychological condition too. “Are you alright now?” she asked me with concern again and I looked at her this time with a small smile. “Okay… then we will do a few light exercises today. You know that we can’t do intense exercises when your mind is not stable, right?” she asked me in a gentle tone and I smiled. “I understand, Rosy…. Let’s begin. I think a distraction is all I need right now”, I said while removing the duvet from my legs and she nodded. I really needed a distraction from everything right now to sort out my mind and exercise with the help of Rosy would be the best for me right now.
