I FOUND HER

Alex’s P.O.V.

She moved a little bit. Her hands were on my bare chest. The movement I felt through her fingers relieved me somehow. I wanted to look at her face but was scared that It would expose her to cold again. I was praying that Ryan would find out us soon. Her body was not so warm yet. I was continuously rubbing her back, her legs to warm them up. She was clinging against my chest for getting more warmth.

Her body was very skinny like she hadn’t eaten anything for quite a long time. My heart was shattered into very tiny pieces. I am the owner of the chain of restaurants and here I am… I had nothing to feed my starved daughter. I laughed a little at this irony of my luck. I embraced her a little tighter but gently. I was scared that I would harm her if I put any pressure on her body. Tears were rolling down continuously from my eyes.

I was scared and helpless 6 years ago when Suddenly Anaira disappeared and I got her letter that she loves someone else and wanted to spend the rest life with him. She flew with him far from me so that I would not create any problem for them. I tried hard to search for her with all my efforts but didn’t get a single glance at her or any news all these years. I was helpless then and I am helpless today too.

“Please please God…. Have some mercy on your children… please help me to save this little angel of yours… don’t let her pay off our sins.. please God … have mercy”, I was continuously praying for her sake.

It seemed that God had listened to my prayers. The rain had slow down. I assumed that soon It would be morning. I was just hoping that Ryan would come back and found us soon. Her breathing was still not normal. I didn’t know anything about any kind of injury to her body. I hadn’t even seen her properly till yet.

My legs went numb as I was sitting in the same position for quite a long time. I looked at my watch. It was 4 in the morning. Soon It would be dawn and thing would start clearing so then It would be easier for me to travel back towards the road.

Suddenly I felt her chest vibrating. I slowly pulled off the raincoat and my blazer a little bit to see her face. There was an extreme pain on her face and her lips were flickering. She had stopped shivering which was a good sign. I felt that she was saying something. I leaned back towards her face to listen to her properly. I was dying to hear her voice.

“Mom…. Please don’t leave….Mom… please don’t leave”, she was mumbling and It seemed that she had a bad dream.  Though her voice was hoarse due to exhaustion, cold and crying but still she had an angelic voice. My heart pained a lot at this site.

I held her against my chest to ensure her that she was safe. “You are safe… you are safe … princess.. Mom is not going anywhere”, I tried to comfort her. Her small breathes were fanning my cheeks. I kissed her forehead. Her skin was now warm.

I took out my phone and looked for the signal. Still no signal. I sighed and leaned back against the bush of the tree. She somehow calmed down as her tensed body was now relaxed.

Suddenly I felt that I heard someone. My ears instantly perked up for listening to anything. I concentrated hard on my hearing.

Then I heard someone shouting… It was a human voice. I was way beyond happy and started to raise from my spot but then stopped. What if those men were not Ryan and his friends. What if they were the person from whom Anaira was running and hiding. If the possibility of the latter was high then I was in trouble with my daughter. I leaned back again more inside towards the tree. I didn’t want to put her in any danger. There was a big branch lying in front of me which could hide me enough from the front. I slowly leaned down gently holding her body and took out the branch to held again me like a shield.

My all senses were on alert. I tried hard again to listen to the voices.

“Mr. Parker……. Where r u….”, someone was shouting my name. A ray of hope rose in my heart. Only Ryan knew that I was here. But I wanted to ensure myself that I was right. After all, It was the question of the safety of my princess.

“Mr. Parker…. Mr. Parker…..”, I heard more voices shouting my name.

I had to take this risk if I was not hallucinating. I rose from my spot but fell down harshly causing losing my grip on her as both my legs were totally numbed due to being in the same position for few hours. She fell down from my embrace and I panicked. She screamed a little when her body hit the ground but I immediately grabbed her again and pulled her in my embrace with my blazer. My raincoat again got wet again due to water on the ground.

“Mr. Parker….. Mr. Parker…..” I heard the voices clearly now.

“I am here”, I shouted with all powers in my lung.

“I am here”, I shouted again.

I heard leaves rustling and someone coming towards me at a fast pace. They were more than one.

I tried to get up again but failed.

“Mr. Parker”, someone shouted again. The voice was very clear now. The person must be behind the tree.

“I am here”, I shouted again looking towards the direction of the voice.

I saw 2 men coming through the bush from behind the tree. Within a few seconds, they were in front of me. I didn’t know them but by their look, I could say that they were with Ryan.

One of them hurriedly came towards me with a polybag in his hand.

“Mr. Parker… I am John.. Ryan’s brother”, he sat in front of me while the other person held me from my shoulders giving support.

He took out a clean blanket from the bag and spread it a little.

“Please put the child in this blanket Sir”, he requested me and I nodded. I looked towards him with a genuine little smile. I was also exhausted and had no energy to speak more.

I threw my blazer and took the blanket from him. Tina shivered hardly when the cold wind touched her body for a second. I immediately rolled her in that warm blanket from head to toe. Now only her face was uncovered. I held her gently against my chest.

They both gave me support and help me to stand.

“Thank you… thank you… for coming”, I thanked him in a choked voice.

“Please don’t mention this Sir. I have a daughter too. I can understand”, John said to me politely and helped me to move forward.

“We need to inform them but there is no signal”, the other man who introduced him as Adam, Ryan’s cousin said to John.

“I have given him my walky also. Check if he is in the range or not”, James asked Adam and he pulled out a walky from his pocket from his other hand. My legs were still not in motion.

“Ryan.. are you listening… Ryan… Ryan… are you there”, Adam spoke through the walky but didn’t get any answer. It seemed that they were not in range.

Adam tried again and again while moving towards the exit. We were moving slowly as I was not able to walk properly yet.

“Let’s head towards the car and keep on trying. The child needs medical attention urgently”, John said to Adam and he nodded.

Adam was continuously trying to contact Ryan. After some time, I was somehow able to stand and walk properly. I fastened our pace. Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I immediately took it out in hope that It should be Ryan.

But It was Matthew, my cousin. I was not sure to tell him anything or not. But I answered the call.

“Where the hell are you Alex. Your phone is not reachable. Your driver’s phone is not reachable. Everyone was worried here”, he shouted aloud and I distanced my ears from the phone. He was sometimes very noisy. But there was worry and panic in his voice. It was obvious. I should be at my house a few hours before.

“Relax Matthew… relax”, I also shouted to shut him from damaging my ear.

“I am fine and I will be home soon. Something came up and I headed back to Houston. Relax”, I lied to him as I was not sure whether to tell him the truth or not.

I dropped my hand a little and asked John “Try Ryan Now”. He nodded and took out his phone.

“Uncle and aunt were worried and Aunt fainted twice due to anxiety you know”, he informed me in a broken voice and it also pained me. Aunt was Anaira’s mother who was living with me since that incident.

I was going to say something then it struck my mind. She is the only one who could help.

I cleared my throat and said to Matthew “ I am ok and perfectly fine Matthew. Please let me talk to her. She will listen to me and it will ease her”.

“Ok”, he said and then after a while I heard her choked and hoarse voice as if she was crying for quite a time.

“Alex… where are you, son… please tell me you are ok”, she was crying.

We were not running but pacing fast so my voice was not so calm I tried to control my voice “I am ok Mom.. and perfectly fine”.

“How much time it will take to come back”, she sounded relaxed now.

“Mom.. listen to me.. don’t show any emotion on your face..be calm… don’t tell anything to anyone…. I need your help”, I requested her in an urgent tone.

She was silent for a second the spoke “Ok son. I am relaxed now. Please come back soon and yeah I am going to take some rest”.

I smiled a little. She understood the urgency and secrecy. “I love you mom”, I told her and then she said the same to me and then cut the call.

“Ryan is coming to the car out on road Sir. I talked to him”, John informed me. He had maintained some distance before so that no one on my side could listen to him talking to Ryan.

“Thanks, John .. Adam... I will not forget your help throughout my life. I owe all of you for my life”, I sincerely thanked them with a genuine smile on my face.

“It’s really ok Sir. We all have family and we understand your condition totally”, it was Adam.

Suddenly my phone vibrated again. I looked towards the screen. It was mom.

I answered the call.

“I am in my room son. Tell me”, she asked me a little in panic.

“I am alright mom but I have a news for you. Please sit down somewhere”, I told her and requested her to sit.

“You are scaring me, Alex. What is it you don’t want to tell anyone including your father”, she was panicking.

I inhaled sharply and then said, “I found Anaira Mom”.

I heard her gasping.
