HER SAFETY IS PRIORITY

Alex’s P.O.V.
I was leaning at the back of my seat. We were at the outskirt of city. My princess was still sleeping peacefully in my embrace. Suddenly I felt her shivering again. I immediately opened my eyes and looked at her. She was having difficulty breathing. I panicked.
“Hurry Ryan… something is wrong with her”, I yelled in panic.
Ryan instantly looked at our side.
“Hold her head up Sir and patted her back gently. Danny… get to the hospital fast”, Ryan said to me and instructed the driver.
I didn’t say anything as my daughter was not able to breathe properly and her tiny little face was getting more red color with every second passing. I was scared to death right now. My mind was not functioning properly. It was funny that I was dependent on my driver for taking major decisions right now. He was thinking about their safety and I could rely on him. What he was suspecting before was now making sense to me. What if someone close to me was responsible for what Anaira and my daughter have suffered till now. I was really feeling helpless deep down. I don't know whom to trust or whom to trust not.
Danny sped the car and I didn’t care about safety now.
“Pull the car to the nearest hospital.”, Ryan instructed Danny once again and Danny did the same.
With in 5 minutes they were at the entrance of a small hospital at the City outskirt. I didn’t bother about how small the hospital was as soon as my daughter got the proper medical attention.
Both me and Ryan almost ran towards the nursing station in the emergency room. I was carrying her in my embrace. She was losing her consciousness again.
“Please call the daughter… my daughter is not able to breathe properly”, Danny who was almost behind me came forward and requested nurse in a panic voice.
The nurse immediately paged off for The Pediatrician available in the emergency that time.
“Please put the girl on the stretcher and stay away”, another nurse instructed us, and I immediately but gently put her on a stretcher.
“Please fill this form and don’t worry she will be alright”, The first nurse gave a form to Danny and tried to comfort him.
“Thank you”, Danny mumbled like a worried father.
Meanwhile, attending nurse of my daughter took her to a room where she connected her with a heart monitor, oxygen mask, and another instrument which I was not able to identify.
She was trying to find out the vein in her pale and fragile body but not able to find. Soon the doctor came and asked her. He then examined her and helped nurse for taking blood sample. Then he strode towards us.
He looked towards us in a questioning look when Danny came forward. Doctor assumed that he was the father.
“How can you be so cruel and irresponsible towards your own daughter”, he scolded Danny and I lowered down my head. Tears were about to drop from my eyes.
“I am really sorry doctor. After my wife I tried my best to take care of her. Due to some work I left her with one of my relative for 4-5 days. Today when I returned back they told me that she ran from their house the same day I left. They didn’t bother to inform me and..”, Danny really choked on his words.
Doctor inhaled sharply and then he said to Danny, “she is very critical. I looked like she haven’t eaten anything from days. We are shifting her to ICU as she needs intensive care. Rest we will intimate you after proper check-up. But it will cost you”.
“No matter how much it cost doctor, just save her”, this time it was me. I was not able to hold myself anymore. The outfit which I have wear right now is normal. So no one could guess about my real status now.
“Ok… we are taking her for CT and other test. Please wait here the other and the father has to be with us only”, The doctor said and Danny immediately came forward to go with him. They both then left us at the waiting area.
Nurses dragged her with all instruments attached to her inside the hospital. I and Ryan sat on the chair in the waiting area. Every second was like an hour for me.
“Relax Sir… she will be alright”, Ryan tried to comfort me. I exhaled and leaned back at rest my head at the wall behind me.
Suddenly my phone started ringing bursting the silence in the corridor.
I immediately took out my phone. It was Cynthia.
I answered the call immediately.
“Alex we need to shift her immediately. She is sinking.”, there was a panic and hurriedness in her voice.
I was stunned.
The world seemed to spin around me. I was really not able to think what to do.
“Alex.. are you listening to me…”, she shouted again.
“Yeah… I am here”, I said while processing everything which was going around me.
“I have talked to one of my old colleague. I am shifting her to hospital in his supervision.”, she told me.
“Mom.. just be careful. Don’t go with her. Send Ryan’s wife instead. I don’t know who is behind her k********g. So need to be careful”, I requested her.
“Where are you now”, she asked me.
“I am also in a hospital with my daughter. She was having problem while breathing. So we admitted her in the hospital”, I told her everything then.
I heard her sobbing.
“What is happening Alex? Why did they suffer so much?”, she said in a choked voice.
“I know nothing Mom. I just know one thing that I need to protect them now at any cost”, I said with determination.
“Sir, Doctor is here.”, Ryan informed me and looked towards the door. The doctor was coming towards us.
“I gotta go Mom. Inform me when you reached at hospital. We both need to take care of our daughters”, I said and cut the call.
Both me and Ryan stood up from our seats and went towards the doctor.
“She is fine right now but still needs to be in 24 hours observation. It seemed that she hasn’t eaten anything from day. She is malnutrished, having so many bruises and injuries on her body and suffering from severe hypothermia due to exposure in cold for long hours. Her reports are yet to be come. We just have to wait for improvement”, doctor informed us about my daughter conditions.
“Thanks doc, whatever it takes, whatever you think is necessary, please do”, I thanked doc and pleaded for her safety.
“Don’t worry. She will be alright. You need to do some p*****t. Her father, Mr. Danny requested to inform you as he is with her right now”, he told us.
“No need to worry about money doc. Just a little a request”, the doctor looked at me in confusion.
“Don’t let anyone visit her apart from me, Ryan and her…. Her father… Danny. I am sure that someone tried to harm her before and I just want to ensure her safety”, it was painful to call Danny her father but it was for her safety which was my priority right now.
“I understand and rest assured. Please make the deposit”, he said and then went back to the ward.
I and Ryan then headed towards the nursing station.
