Hunter’s P.O.V.

“You want to say that you are interviewing a girl who hasn’t applied for this post?” I asked Rachel one more time in disbelief and she nodded while pursing her lips into a thin line. “She has applied for the secretarial job, Mr Knight. I don’t know how this happened but this is a mistake on our end”, she told me the whole situation in a few words. Her words made me clench my jaw tightly in anger. This might seem a small mistake to anyone else, but for me, it was a grave mistake. There was no place for mistakes in my life and in my company. I balled up my fists hard to control my anger.

“Then interview her for this post. Let’s see whether she is eligible or not?” I instructed her at the end. “She is freshly graduated, sir, and has no experience”, she told me nervously this time. “So?” I asked her nonchalantly. It was just an interview. I knew that I was not fair to this girl when surely it was not her fault that she was in the wrong place. “She will get experience when she works, right? So, interview her… see what potential does she has. I will decide about her position in the company based on this interview. Give her resume to me”, I told her my intention and she raised her brows at me in surprise. Yes, I was going to monitor this interview from my room.

Rachel put down her resume in front of me on the table. “She is an intelligent girl, sir. I saw her certificates. She has received her degree with good grades and her academics is also good. She can be a good asset for our secretarial department”, Rachel told me briefly about the girl. “Interview her for PA. I will tell you what to do next with her”, I instructed Rachel once again in a cold tone while going through her CV. I insisted Rachel to take interviews for my PA today because she knew my requirements well. She then walked out of the room and I opened the camera of that room on my laptop. I saw a blonde sitting there.

The corner of my lips curled up when I saw her dress and her face. She was in the formal attire of a pantsuit but in a decent way. She had a bare face and I wondered whether she had even applied lipstick or not because her lips were naturally pink. She had no expression on her face right now but I could that she was nervous. She was fidgeting her fingers furiously on her lap. The camera was right behind Rachel’s chair and that was why I could see her clearly. She looked behind when Rachel entered the room.

The girl took my interest when she refused to be interviewed for the PA post and insisted on the secretarial position. According to what I saw in her resume, she was intelligent and I had no doubt that she knew everything about the salary and other perks she could get if she was chosen for the post while she would get the minimum wages as she had applied for the entry-level. Still, she wanted to go for the entry-level. After Rachel explained the situation, she sighed aloud and then shrugged her head as if she was now ready to go to war.

After that, Rachel asked her so many things about her personal life and then her knowledge of PA work. I was surprised to hear her answers because she knew not only the basic duties of a PA but also knew how crucial and tiring this job could be. When Rachel asked about her plans for the future, she smiled widely. She really had a vibrant and pure smile. One thing that I noticed about this girl was that she was honest in her answers and didn’t fake any expressions. If she was disappointed, she showed her disappointment. If she was hesitant, she showed her hesitance.

I picked up the phone from my table while looking at that girl. Hiring a fresh graduate as my PA could be a headache for me but at least she didn’t appear as the girls who wanted to throw herself on me if they get any chance. “Hire her”, I said to Rachel after she picked up my call. “Wh… what?” she stuttered in surprise. “Tell her that she has to join from tomorrow onwards and give her everything that she will need to proceed”, I instructed Rachel in a calm tone while looking at that girl’s face. She was looking at Rachel while widening her eyes a little in curiosity. She was looking like a curious cat right now.

“Okay, Mr Knight”, Rachel confirmed my order and then I hung up still looking at that girl. I was now really curious to see her reaction. This was the first girl who piqued my interest so much. My eyes widened in surprise when she jumped and stood up from her chair, knocking the chair behind her, but the chair didn't fall and her eyes widened in horror as if they would come out of the socket any time. “No… no… there must be some mistake… Rachel… H… h…. h… how can I be his PA?” she immediately waved her hands in front of Rachel while panicking. I heard a knock and asked the person to come inside without moving my eyes from her. I knew that people feared me but this was something that I didn’t expect.

“We have a … what are you watching?” I heard Josh but didn’t look at him. I heard him coming towards me. “There is no mistake, Bethany… he just called as he is monitoring this interview … and told me to hire you”, Rachel told me everything truthfully in a calm tone and stood up when the girl gasped aloud still having the same expression on her face. “H…h..h..he…i..is m.. monitoring… are you kidding me?” he stuttered hard in horror and then screamed while looking around still wide eyes in horror. Her eyes went towards the camera and this time our eyes met through the camera. She went pale and stumbled on her feet badly. However, she saved her fall by gripping the armrest of the chair hard.

Rachel immediately stood up and went near her. She wrapped her hand around her shoulder and gave her a glass of water. The girl finished the whole glass in one go. “I am sorry, Bethany… but you are hired as his PA. You have to join him from tomorrow onwards as he is in urgent need of PA”, Rachel once again apologized to her in a gentle tone and told her about her joining. “Why Rachel is apologizing to that girl, huh?” Josh asked me in a curious tone. “This is because she is not a candidate for PA still she is forced to give this interview due to a mistake made by someone from HR”, I told him the situation while looking at that girl in amusement. It would be fun to work with her.

“Who forced her then?” he asked me again and this time I looked at him. “Me”, I answered him briefly and then looked back at the laptop. “Rachel… H… h… how I am going … t… to survive?” she asked Rachel in a broken voice having tears in her eyes. I shrank my eyes in confusion. She would only be there to assist me. It was not like I was going to kill her any time soon. “Don’t worry, honey… I will be with you. I am head of the secretarial department and I will always be with you until you leave the company on your own or he fires you”, Rachel comforted her while remarking on me sarcastically. She knew that I could hear her still she remarked to me.

That girl looked at her while pouting cutely. It seemed that my new PA was full of surprises and I was now curious to know how she would manage to work with me on the daily basis. “Are you sure that you want to hire her as PA, huh? She has no experience”, I heard Josh’s voice and moved my gaze from the laptop screen to him once again. “Everyone starts fresh from a point and then gains experience by working”, I said in a calm tone and he raised his brows at me in surprise.

I averted my gaze from him and then put down her resume inside the drawer. “She can be a headache for you, Hunter”, he suddenly spoke in a serious tone and I looked at him in confusion. “You saw her…. She is … she seems so innocent. It can be a façade”, he put his suspicion in front of me. I raised my brows at him. “You know our line of work. Our enemies want to take us down by any means. They can send someone to work as their mole and that’s why we have a strict procedure for hiring staff for our company. She looks so innocent and the way she reacted when Rachel told her about her hiring, I really have some doubt about this girl”, he explained his doubt to me and I tapped my index finger on my chin while looking at him.

“If you have doubt, then you know what to do to remove a threat. You may be right about the girl. If she is really a setup by our enemy, then let her come to my den”, I replied to him in a cold tone and a sly smile appeared on his lips. “Find everything about this girl from her birth to till today. I want to know everything about this girl”, I instructed him in a cold tone and he smiled wickedly again. "Also, fire whoever is responsible to scheduled these interviews today. There is no place for a person in my company who cannot do a simple thing without any mistake", I gave him another order in a cold tone while closing the footage on my laptop.
