“Do you really think that it is so easy to deceive me, huh?” I mocked the person lying on the ground in his pool of blood in a cold tone. He was still looking at me with so much pain and fear in his eyes. He should have thought about the outcome of his actions when he decided to rob my money. “I… I… am.. sorry”, he uttered three words with so much difficulty. I smirked and then looked at my bodyguard, Bishop, who was standing next to me. “Did he tell you where he hid my money?” I asked him in a cold tone. “No, sir…. Not yet”, he told me in the same cold tone that he used to speak.

I looked back at the man lying in front of me. He was a senior accountant in my company and I found out that he robbed 50 million from the company account in the past three months. He was good at his work but he became greedy and that was where he made a grave mistake. I leaned down towards him. “Tell me…. Where is my money… or else you will see your wife and your beloved son lying next to you”, I threatened him in a very cold tone. His eyes widened in shock and fear immediately. “No… no.. do.. don’t do.. an.. anything t… to them”, he immediately pleaded in his breaking tone. It was clear that he would not hold his life for long but I was not going to let him die until he tell me about my money.

“Then tell me ….. where …. Is…. My… money”, I asked him again, emphasizing every word in anger this time. “I… I… will… tell you”, he spoke again and I straightened my back. I looked at Bishop again and he nodded without saying a word. I then walked out of the room, leaving Bishop there. He knew very well what to do now. Soon, my other bodyguard, Nathan, started following me silently. I didn’t pay attention to any of them because they knew their work better. I walked out of the basement of my warehouse, which was also my den. I use this place to punish those who betray me or try to pull me down from where I am right now.

I went straight to my car parked outside the warehouse. I hopped inside on the back seat and closed my eyes while putting my head back on the headrest. Nathan took the driver’s seat and drove the car away towards the company. Let me introduce myself to you all first. I am Hunter Knight, the devil in the disguise of a human. I had no stone in place of the heart inside my chest. I was devoid of any emotion and that was why I had no regret or remorse for what I do to inflict my fear on everyone. I was the CEO of Knights Enterprises and own so many other businesses too. I had an influence on the political world also and it made me almost invincible.

I went straight to my floor with Nathan with me. I had my own elevator which could only be opened by only my fingerprint. I had so many enemies and that was why I had an army of highly trained bodyguards. Most of them were retired from the Marines and the army. They were ruthless and merciless like me and wouldn’t hesitate before killing someone. They were known as killing machines due to their killing skills.

I reached my office and asked Nathan to call the head of the HR Department. At the same time, I called one of my secretaries, Rachel, into my room. I fired my PA yesterday because she was also a slut like my other PAs who tried to seduce me, crossing their limits. Rachel was in her forties and very capable among all my secretaries. Right now, she was looking at all my work that should be done by my PA. “What’s my schedule for today, Rachel?” I asked her in a cold tone after taking my chair behind the table. She immediately stepped forward as she was standing near the door. She gave me her tablet and I took it from her without looking at her.

I went through my schedule. My whole day was packed with meetings and one dinner meeting. “What about hiring the new PA?” I asked her while going through my schedule. “They have placed the vacancy and soon they will conduct the interview”, she informed me in a professional and firm tone. “They don’t keep resumes in backup?” I asked her and this time I looked at her coldly. “I don’t know anything about this, sir. Only staff from HR can answer this question”, she once again answered me in a professional and firm tone.

“Okay… you can go now”, I ordered her in a cold tone once again and put down the tablet on the table. “I already have transferred your schedule to your tablet, sir”, she informed me while taking her tablet from the table. After that, she walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. I took my tablet out of the drawer and opened it. At the same time, I opened my laptop too. I had a lot of work too and had not have enough time today because of that prick. I heard a knock on the door and commanded the person standing out there to come in.

Nathan walked inside with Mr Hopkins, the HR head. “Good afternoon, Mr Knight”, Mr Hopkins greeted me in a formal tone but his voice trembled a little. It was obvious that he was scared right now. “Do you have the resumes for tomorrow’s interview?” I asked him while opening my email on the laptop without looking at him. “Yes… yes, Mr Knight”, he stammered a little while answering me this time. He was a bald man in his fifties. I looked up when I saw a file placed in front of me on the table. It was Nathan who put that file on the table. Apart from Rachel and my PA, no one was authorized to approach me in the company.

I went through the resumes because I really wanted a capable PA instead of a w***e-like personality. I threw those resumes who didn’t impress me. I selected ten resumes out of fifty resumes in the file. “Call only them and discard the rest of them”, I put down the file on the table again and resumed what I was doing on the laptop. “Ye… yes, Mr Knight”, he stammered once again, making me irritated by his stammering. "And also placed a vacancy for the post of accountant. We lack one", I instructed him again when I remembered that one accountant was less in that department now. "Y... yes, Mr Knight", he again stammered. I didn’t pay any heed to them. Soon I heard the opening and closing of the door. “Ask Rachel to prepare for the meeting at 3”, I commanded Nathan in a cold tone while answering an email on my laptop.

“Yes, Mr Knight”, he confirmed my command and then I once again heard the opening and closing of the door. It was already 2:30 in the afternoon. I had only half an hour before the first meeting. Suddenly, the door opened and I huffed. I glared at the person who was now standing in front of me with a wide grin on his face. “No matter how strong you are, you need to feed yourself, honey”, he said in a sweet voice while placing a lunch box in front of me on the table. At the same time, my stomach grumbled aloud before I could say a word to him.

“See… I was right… now get up… go freshen up… I will be at your service today”, he almost commanded me and I sighed before standing up. This prick is my cousin, my best friend and the COO of Knights Enterprises, Josh Knight. In the whole world, only two people can behave like this in front of me. He is one of them. He took the lunch box from the table where he put it earlier and I walked towards the lounge. I closed the door of the lounge behind me and took a deep breath. Everything was perfect in my life and I wanted everything to remain the same. Among all the relatives, only Josh was close to me. He was almost a year younger than me but he treated me as his equal always. He is the only one who didn’t fear me.

I stripped off my suit jacket and threw it on the bed. I walked to the washroom and closed the door behind me. I had everything here in the lounge for my use as I spent my nights often. I had a closet here filled with my clothes and other things of my needs. I finished my business and then washed my hands and face. I looked at myself in the mirror over the sink coldly. No one knew but the person I hated the most in this world was myself. There were so many things about me which were unknown to everyone, including Josh. I hated my existence in this world for what I had done in the past.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Whatever I had done, I had to live this life and had to keep safe those whom I cared about the most. I came out of the lounge and walked towards the dresser. I combed my hair again and then walked out of the lounge without taking my suit jacket. I had a meeting to attend in a few minutes. Before that, I had to eat, which, according to Josh, was important for me.
