The sound of the door being slammed echoed loudly in the middle of the dark night as I dragged someone—let's call him a long-time acquaintance—into my room. My steps were hurried, accompanied by the rough sound of my high-heeled shoes hitting the floor in an irregular rhythm. I impatiently pushed the person until their back touched the wall, trapping them between my arms. I stared sharply at the man. "Tell me honestly, why are you here... Ric?" I frowned. Instead of giving an answer, he just glanced at me, tilted his head, and a small smile appeared on his lips. I frowned, feeling a bit irritated. "Are you making fun of me?" I questioned. "Princess, you look cute when you're mad," he responded. Ric, the guy I was talking with, dodged my question once more and changed the topic. I was not going to be fooled by his smooth talk again. Even though he was being charming, I could see through it–he was just messing with me. I sighed in irritation. "Seriously, Ric, I need to know. How did you manage to bypass the tight security at Eclipse? Did you … harm anyone?" My voice sounded scared as I spoke. I can still remember how the man swiftly defeated two werewolves with just a few moves. Even though we were in Eclipse's territory, I could not let Ric do whatever he wanted, especially not if it meant killing one of the pack members to get in. The man looked at me seriously for a moment before letting out a short scoff. "Pfft—no way, how could I? Look, I was just joking with you. I came here by catching a ride on your coat that time." "What?" I was confused when I heard his statement. After a moment, I realized he had no't done anything wrong. I decided to calm down, lower my arm, and walk away from the black-haired man. In my bedroom, I sat on the couch and leaned back, feeling tired. Ric, the guy with black hair, was on the opposite couch with his feet up on the table. I gestured with my small hand, saying, "Let's stop arguing. I don't want to fight today." He asked, "Is it because of that red-haired man?" I froze and looked horrified. "You … how long have you been following me?" "Since the beginning," he replied casually. "Ric!" I glared at him. I never wanted to see him again, but here he was in my room, following me around. Oh, great! Now I feel really stupid. "Relax, Princess. No need to get all worked up. I have a different reason for being here," he said with a slight grin, twirling the dagger in his hand, making me feel uneasy. I should have known from the start that he had ulterior motives when he saved me and brought me here. Clearing my throat, I asked, "What are you after?" "It's not your concern," Ric replied curtly, not even bothering to look at me. I nervously bit my lip. How could this not be my concern? He hitched a ride on my clothes to get here, and now, with his mysterious agenda, I might face consequences if Eclipse catches us. No, I had to do something. I looked at Ric quickly and noticed he was looking at me too, but with a strange expression. Was he trying to challenge me? His look told me I had to make the move if I wanted any answers. Ugh, why do I always deal with clueless guys? Feeling fed up, I got up and grabbed the guy's shirt collar. He had been absorbed in playing with a dagger, but now he was staring right into my eyes. "Ric, do you think you can fool me just like them? Do I really look like a foolish woman who will submit to love and can't do anything when oppressed?" My gaze sharp, Ric didn't answer and made me continue my speech - more like continuing to express all my frustration. "I'm not that foolish. I'm just holding back because I know I can't do as I please here. If you still refuse to say what your purpose is in coming here, I swear I'll make you regret ever thinking of me as a naive girl who can't do anything." "I knew." "Huh?" I arched an eyebrow, puzzled by Ric's response. Surprisingly, he cut the distance between us and got closer to my face, making me widen my eyes in surprise and fear that Ric might do something. "Why, are you scared of me, Princess?" Ric's face looked really intimidating as he said that to me, his eyes suggesting that he could do anything right now. I could sense a thirst for blood in the depth of his gaze, making me tense up and quickly rack my brain. Suddenly, my expression hardened, and I decided to respond to his words with irritation. "Stop calling me silly names like that. I'm not your princess or anyone else's." As I was about to put some distance between us and move away from the man who resembled a black crow, Ric didn't let me. He held my arm tightly, drawing me back and making me gaze into his eyes again. "I needed your help, Bella," Ric said seriously. Like being possessed, I saw a different expression on his face. Suddenly, his green eyes seemed to tremble and were filled with hope, making me feel that whatever he was going to say next was genuinely serious. "H-huh?" In the quiet of the night, with only the moonlight filling my room, Ric's words echoed in my mind, leaving me lost in my thoughts. I struggled to make sense of it all. What did he want from me? I felt incapable of helping him or even managing my own problems. The weight of his request left me feeling overwhelmed and unsure. "What do you mean by needing help?" I asked slowly and in a soft tone, so that only the two of us could hear it. Ric heard my answer, then he looked at me—or maybe through me—before drawing another suspicious smile. I wanted to move away from him, but it felt like he used some kind of spell to freeze my feet, keeping me stuck in place as I just stared at the him, who was looking flawless like a fallen angel. "Just a little help, Isabella." "Yeah?" Without waiting for me to finish speaking or even bothering to answer my question, he quickly grabbed my arm, causing me to lose balance and accidentally fall into his embrace. But because it all happened so fast, I unknowingly pushed against Ric's chest, and we both fell onto the bed, with me ending up on top of Ric, glaring at him while he grinned. What's wrong with him! "Hey, you—!" "Sshh, just be quiet for a moment." He hushed me as we both heard another voice coming from outside. Tap. Tap. Click— "Lady, I brought you a glass of warm milk—" Clank—! The sound of shattering glass followed by Rory's gasp as he saw us both piled on the bed made my eyes widen, realizing that this was the help Ric had just mentioned. Quickly, I turned back to Ric, who smiled slightly, as if pleased that his plan had worked. Darn you, Ric!
