My hands were up defensively in front of me, even though they would not do much good compared to the large dragon roaring only feet away, but I was trying to prove I wasn't there to harm it.

"Back off!" Conall yelled. I glanced behind to see him jump into the middle of the eggs. "Get back, or I'll smash 'em!"
"No, no, no," I said hurriedly, putting a hand up to each of them as another screech erupted in the small cavern.
The dragon swayed from side to side. I saw its eyes glancing around without pausing for long. It was looking for a way in and an opening to attack.
However, in such a small cave, it was nearly impossible for it to attack us without harming the eggs in the process. The dragon's movements became more and more anxious.
