Killing the Ogre

“There’s still 20 villager and 40 halflings left. I hope to reduce it by half again.”

Lance then takes a glance around and unknowingly, those who are being glanced by him start to emit some kind of fragrance that couldn’t be smelled by people but the monsters get agitated again and start to charge towards those people.

At this moment, Clyde has finished killing off the monster group that is going for him. Earlier when he is facing the monster, he didn’t pay attention to the villagers. When he saw what happened and the number of remaining survivors, he is so shocked. At that moment, he almost overwhelmed by regret and sadness to the point that he almost turned off his battle mode. However, as he realized that there are still some survivors and the number of monsters is still numerous, his spirit increased once more.

The number of the monsters is a lot but throughout the battle, Lance stealthily used his ability to limit the number of monsters to still be manageable by killing them off using a blood bullet that is launched precisely towards the monster’s brain through the ear. So even if someone examined the corpse, the chance of them finding out something is very low.

Right now, Lance is examining Clyde as he is killing the monsters. His movement is still amateurish and rough but Lance can see the potential. The number of the survivors also within Lance’s expectation. Seeing that Clyde is already handling the remaining monster, Lance starts to do his thing. He takes dirt from the ground and smeared himself with it. He also ruffled his hair to make it messier. Milla who has been watching from the sides copied him and do the same. Even when the monsters are fast approaching, Milla keeps her calm since she saw Lance standing still with the same look of confidence and calmness. Lance saw what Milla is doing and inwardly satisfied as she is actually a smart girl and done things without needing Lance to tell her what to do.

The battle is coming to a close as the remaining monsters all run away and those in the area are being cut by Clyde. However, Lance thinks that something is wrong, it was too easy. Sure, the monsters are numerous but it is strange that they are starting to attack the village out of the blue. There must be a reason to why this is happening.

Sure, there are 10 villagers’ survivors and 20 halflings but that is because Lance has his hands on this. If it was only a normal attack, he can see that all of the halflings get eliminated and the villagers surviving but their number is too many. Lance didn’t need to wait for long to knows what is happening in the previous life.

From the distance, he can hear a loud roar. In fact, the monsters seemed to be running from the new challenger. In the distance, there’s a huge green creature walking towards the village. With a huge stone club on its right hand and its left hand is scratching its bald head.

Even Milla immediately recognizes the monster the moment it shows up. Ogre. The villagers and the halflings were relieved when Clyde killed the last monster but when they saw the Ogre, they screamed once again and Clyde immediately realized that something is wrong.

“Ogre. So, the cause of the monster attack is just them trying to run away from the Ogre. Everyone hides in the village. I will face the Ogre.”

The state of the village isn’t even intact anymore. Houses broke down and the village’s walls are broken down. That is also one of the reasons why the villagers don’t hide inside the houses when the monsters are attacking. Their chance of staying alive is higher outside than inside the house. This is also why this village is abandoned in the previous life.

Lance followed the group and hide in the houses but he still watching the situation outside. Clyde looked tired from his earlier battle but he is still staying true to his character as the future hero. In fact, the moment he pulled the hero's sword, he is already a hero.

If someone painted a picture of Clyde right now, it would be a masterpiece as the hero is facing a giant ogre. Considering all of the factors right now, it is close to impossible for Clyde to defeat the Ogre. If he was in his top condition, it is possible but in his wearied down state, there is a 50% chance that he will be killed.

This is also the moment that Lance has been waiting for. He wanted to know, how Clyde is able to go through it in the previous life. Lance wants to know the real effect of the ‘God’s blessings’. After all, whenever Lance sending his subordinate who is stronger than Clyde, he is able to defeat them in return and getting stronger each time to the point that he is killed by Clyde in the end. He needs to understand Clyde’s strength and skill inside out if he wants to have his perfect revenge on him.

Clyde and the Ogre are having their battle. So far, Clyde is dodging all of the Ogre’s attack as one hit from the Ogre is enough to send Clyde flying and suffer a fatal wound. The Ogre’s attack itself is pretty slow. Not to mention with the extra stone club that it is carrying makes the attack even slower in exchange for increased damage.

Clyde is dodging while gathering his strength. He is looking for an opening to launch an attack. The next moment the ogre’s attack missed and the club landed on the ground, Clyde ignored the tremor it caused, and suddenly the sword on his hand emanating lights and grown longer. Clyde utilized that moment to cut the ogre’s right hand.

“Kuaaah!”

The Ogre roared as its hand is being cut off. Strangely enough, there’s no blood coming out from the cut section and the wound is forcibly closed off along with a burnt smell. This is one of Clyde’s abilities. He could channel the power of the sun to the weapon that he is holding. Making it extra hot at the same time as increasing its sharpness and damage.

Taking advantage of the moment when the Ogre is screaming in pain, Clyde readied himself for another attack. The Ogre didn’t stay still as it is running towards Clyde but surprisingly, it somehow stumbled into its own stone club that is laying down on the ground. The way it falls is so convenient as the Ogre’s neck presented itself in front of Clyde. Clyde didn’t need anyone to remind him before he brandished his sword and cut the ogre’s neck cleanly, ending its life.

To be honest, Lance was a bit baffled. Is this the so-called ‘God’s blessings’? If it was true, then Lance decided to be more careful in his plan for revenge. He still needs to examine it later. If it was something like blind luck then Lance will really need to prepare more thoroughly. It would be simpler if God’s blessings are more of strength enchantment. For example, killing a strongman when they are sleeping will be simple but killing someone normal but has a lot of luck is harder, they might even trip when trying to stab him when he is sleeping just like the Ogre earlier.
