Entering the Starfall City

After passing through five more villages in the span of seven days, Clyde, Lance, Milla, and the rest of the villagers finally arrived at the Starfall City. The capital city of Brunia kingdom where it got its name from the iconic crater just outside of the city walls. It is said that two thousand years ago, a star has fallen on the area and causing the crater to form, hence the name of the Starfall city. People gathered at the place since it was a never seen phenomenon at that time. With more people coming to the place to sightseeing, they also started to develop the place into a village, to a city, and finally into the capital of Brunia kingdom.

The scenery itself blew Milla’s mind away. She has been moving from one place to another but it was limited to small villages. She never gets the chance to visit a big city before, not to mention that Starfall city is the capital of the kingdom.

Just from one mile before they entered the city, the roads have changed from a dirt path into a gravel one. When they entered the city, the road will be changed into stone tile rocks which shows people just how much developed is the capital city. Five meters tall stone wall surrounding the city, making its defense a hundred times better than the villages they have seen along the way. Not to mention the numerous guards and sentries taking shifts to patrol it.

“How is it? It’s amazing right?”

Lance asked Milla and she only nods quietly without answering as she was left speechless. Some of the villagers are also acting the same, only Clyde who has his hero traits could regain his composure quickly. As for Lance, he is a demon king previously. What kind of building is more grandeur than his dwellings? Even the castle of the Brunia kingdom which can be glanced at from afar isn’t making him interested.

The group is now lining up together before entering the city since there’s a long queue. Since it was the capital, the guard at the entrance needs to check everyone’s identity before they pass through the gate.

Finally, it was Lance’s turn and the villagers. The one who is making the report however is Clyde as he somehow unanimously become the leader of the group.

“My name is Clyde and I am here to have an audience with the king. The people with me are the member of my village who are moving here because our village has been destroyed by a monster attack.”

“Ah, are you Clyde from the village near the Darkwood mountain range?”

“Yes. I’m that one.”

“We have a message a few days ago saying that when you come, we will need to contact the head guard immediately. Can you and your group wait for a bit?”

“Sure, no problem.”

Clyde remembers that the village’s head has notified the king and that is why he is granted an audience with the king. He doesn’t even know how the village’s head is able to contact the king but it shouldn’t be something bad.

Not long after, a knight on top of a white horse come approaches Clyde and the group. He stepped down from the horse and there’s someone behind him too trying to catch up with him.

“Sir Elmer, please wait for me.”

The man finally managed to catch up with the knight named Elmer who just stepped down from the horse and now is standing in front of Clyde and the group.

“Which one is Clyde?”

“That would be me, sir.”

“My name is Elmer and I will be escorting you later. Is this all of your group members?”

“Yes, this is everyone.”

“Alright, follow me.”

The other member of the group is now fawning upon seeing Elmer. Judging from the guard’s reaction, it seemed that Elmer is an important person in the city. Elmer then brought the group into one of the inns in the city and speak to the group.

“The rest of you, you can stay in the inn for free. As for Clyde, you follow me.”

Hearing that they could stay in the inn for free, the villagers are elated. At first, they are worried about money since they just arrived in the city and don’t get any chance to familiarize themselves with the area. Although they have some monster materials to sell, they didn’t know where to sell them and whether they will get scammed or not.

Clyde on the other hand followed Elmer without any objections. Elmer then brought Clyde into his house and have a meal with him.

“Clyde, please have a meal and then we should clean you up before you have an audience with the king.”

Hearing what Elmer said to him, Clyde feels a bit embarrassed. All the journey from the village into the capital city, Clyde didn’t get the chance to take a bath because they are rushing on the journey to arrive as fast as they could. Only simper wash facing at a creek and that’s it. The stench from his body must be unbearable and Clyde is embarrassed because of it.

“Clyde, tell me what happened to Tony and what you have experienced. To be honest, I am a friend of Tony when we are serving in the military before. I decided to continue work for the royal family and he decided to go back to help with his family.”

Clyde now finally understands at how the village’s head is able to arrange a meeting for him with the king. Tony is the name of the village’s head and it seemed that Elmer is quite an important person in the capital. The village’s head must have sent a letter to Elmer previously.

“So, it was like this. It started when I suddenly have a dream that I managed to pull the holy sword and I tell that to the village’s head.”

Clyde then recounted at how the village’s head believes in what he said and arrange a group of villagers to accompany him to pull the sword. How he successfully come back after retrieving the holy sword, and how the village is under the attack of monsters.

“What? You say that you managed to kill the ogre?”

“I am just fortunate. The ogre happened to trip and fall. It was just luck.”

“No, for you to be able to do that, not to mention pulling out the holy sword, I believe it wasn’t only a coincidence. Is that the holy sword, can I take a look at it?”

Clyde then presented the holy sword to Elmer without hesitation. After all, there is no way for another person other than the chosen one to use the holy sword. Even Clyde at the moment isn’t able to utilize it in battle, that is why he is still carrying another sword with him.

Elmer then examined the holy sword, Caliburn. It was designed valiantly and anyone can feel the vigor emanating from it. When someone is looking at it, they feel that as if they are looking at an inspiring knight on the battlefield that managed to eliminate the enemy’s army.

“This sword, truly deserves its reputation as the holy sword.”

Elmer handed the sword back to Clyde and he makes another request.

“Clyde, since you have finished your meal, can I ask another request? Can you show me the technique you say that makes you able to channel your power into the sword? I mean, before you take a bath and have an audience with the king. Otherwise, your clothes might get dirtied if I ask you to show me later.”

“No problem.”
