Chapter 8 : You showed up

1910 Kata
*Della* After class, I waved goodbye to Sarah, and walked down the hallway, heading out of the school when my attention suddenly shifted to the conversation between two ladies standing off to the side against the wall, turning inward to each other. Well, I heard the name 'Emma' I couldn't unhear it. I slowed down my walking pace and pretended to look for something in my bag. “Emma has gone crazy. They are under punishment and they still have s*x on the school premises?" one of the ladies uttered in disgust. “I was so shocked to see them. If the school hears about this, they will be expelled this time. Why can't they just think?" the other lady responded. They are still sleeping together even after everything that has happened? I stared at the hallway they burst out from and something inside me said I should go down that hallway. I knew it was a bad idea to see Richard and Emma together again, but I still wanted to see them, so I headed down the hallway on my right. As I walked down, faint moans slowly began to fill my ears. I clenched my jaw and tightened my fist as the volume of her moans increased. Eventually, I got to the empty room where they were banging each other, and I could see them through the window. Emma lay on the table and her legs were wrapped around Richard's torso as he drove into her with vigor. I lowered my head and gulped hard after watching them for a few minutes. I could feel my heart shattering in my chest. I knew I shouldn't have gone as far as watching them as I did, but I was so curious to know if those ladies were telling the truth. Are they so in love that they can't stay away from each other? And what about me? He must've never loved me. I turned on my heels and left, trying to erase the image of them from my mind. “Della! Hey! Wait up!" I heard someone call behind me as I sped down the hallway. I looked back and saw Dave running up to me. “Hey, Dave," I muttered, wiping away the tears I could feel accumulating in my eyes. “Are you okay?" he asked when he got closer and noticed my countenance. “I'm fine. What's up?" I asked, and he shook his head. “Nothing much. I just thought I should check up on you again. Some ladies came into the class to reveal some more disgusting news about…" “Yes, you don't have to tell me about that. I'm pretty aware, and even saw them together. They are truly in love with each other." I chuckled after talking like it wasn't a big deal to me. Dave sighed and moved closer to me. “I don't know the words you want to hear right now, but it wouldn't be easy to get past this since you're seeing them every day. It was so bad for me too when I found out my ex-girlfriend was cheating on me with the coach of my football club. I was livid. But here I am. I've gotten over it and I'm with a better person now." “Why are you telling me this, Dave?" I answered impatiently. “I want to be your friend and help you get through this. You can't do this alone. Let me help you." “Why? Why do you want to help me?" “Because I've been in this situation before and had my heart shattered by that girl I was alone and that made it worse. You need people around to help you. Let me be your friend." I heaved a sigh and looked at him again. “Dave, I need to go now. Thank you for your concern, but the last thing I need right now is another friend. The one I trusted with all my heart betrayed me. I can't risk that anymore. I'm sorry." He gulped and nodded his head. “It's fine. I'll be around if you need me," he answered, and without responding, I walked away. I headed out of the school immediately and walked to the nearest bar to drink myself into a stupor. I knew drinking may not be the remedy to how sick I felt seeing them together again, but I still wanted to do it anyway. I got into the bar with a fake ID, since I'm not quite twenty-one yet, and told the bartender to get me a whiskey on the rocks. I've never had an alcoholic drink my whole life, and I should have gone slow since it was my first time, but I wasn't thinking. The bartender passed me my order in a medium-sized cup, and I took a large gulp from it. I squeezed my eyes very tight as its sweet but strong taste filled my mouth. Once I had swallowed it all, I took another gulp. I didn't enjoy it, but that wasn't the goal. I wanted to get drunk and forget about my broken heart. The bar isn't anything special with its run-down bar top, rusted tables, and slight musk smell. But then again, I didn't pay too much attention to the details because all I was focused on was getting a drink into my system. After a few minutes of drinking non-stop, I began to feel tipsy as the alcohol began to overwhelm me, and that was when I paid attention to the songs that were playing. I stood up with a mischievous smile on my face and began to sway my hips. Even though I could hardly stand and kept staggering, I still tried to vibe to the song. I trudged to the middle of the club where the others were dancing and began to mingle. I started dancing, twerking, whining, and twisting like I had gone crazy. Soon, I felt hands on my body. I looked back to see who it was and it happened to be a guy, smiling lustfully at me. I didn't care about his look, instead, I danced with him. He held my waist and began to rub against my back till I could feel his hard manhood. This felt weird, so I pushed him off me and kept dancing. “C'mon, baby girl. Let's have fun together. Looks like both of us need this," he said to me. He wanted to keep dancing with him, but I was done. He was too rough. I moved away from him and continued dancing. I returned to the bartender to order another glass of alcohol, and that was when I realized I was yet to finish the last one he served me. I picked it up and gulped everything down. With a grin, I placed the glass on the counter. I wanted to go back to the dance floor when I noticed the man sitting beside me at the bar. He had a lustful grin on his face. Even though I was drunk, I was conscious enough to realize his smirk was nothing but pure evil. I ignored him and turned to leave, but he pulled me back in a rough manner that made me fall into his arms. “Let me go," I mumbled, trying to escape from his tight grip in my drunken state. It didn't go well. He was way stronger and in control. “Don't worry, you won't feel anything tomorrow," he whispered in my ear, making my skin crawl. 'What does he mean?' I thought in fear and discomfort. I wanted to release myself from his grip but it proved abortive. Suddenly, my eyelids started to become very heavy, making it hard for me to hold them open. Everything around me began to spin. I knew something was wrong. I wasn't just under the influence of alcohol, there was more to it. I could sense the man that held me down had something to do about it. I was too uncomfortable so I screamed for help. “Let me go! I want to go home!" I screamed so loud that those around us realized what was happening. “I don't know this man and he has refused to let me go!" I cried again, and some men moved closer to us. “Let her go, man! Can't you see she's drunk?! Are you crazy?!" I heard them throwing words at the man that held me, and before I knew it, he let me go. Immediately, I grabbed my bag and staggered out of the bar. Once outside, I realized it was late already, and I couldn't recall where I should head because I was too drunk and dizzy. I wanted to lie down right in front of the club and sleep. My eyes refused to stay open though. No one needed to tell me my drink had been spiked. While I was still struggling to keep my eyes open, someone suddenly grabbed me. “There you are. You were waiting for me, weren't you?" The voice sounded so familiar. Even though I couldn't hold my eyes open to see who it was, I knew it was the man that drugged me. “Let me go." I thought I yelled the words but I didn't. I was falling deep asleep already. I began to feel something soft on my neck and face, it was like he was licking me. I felt disgusted but I could hardly react because my body wasn't responding to me anymore. I stopped struggling and lost all hope of getting saved when all of a sudden I was dragged by someone else. Yanking me awake a little bit. “Hmm," I moaned softly, resting my head on the chest of whoever dragged me away from that man's hands. “Stay away from her or I'll kill you!" My savior's voice sounded familiar but far away. “Hey, Della. Wake up." He tapped my face trying to revive me, but I responded with a moan and kept my eyes closed. All I knew was that I felt safe in his arms and I wanted him to get me out of there. “Mr. Cary," I mumbled. “Della, it's Mr. Cary. You're safe now, okay?" His voice was clearer and louder this time. I forced myself to open my eyes and to my greatest surprise, I saw Mr. Cary's face. I wasn't imagining his presence. “Mr. Cary," I mumbled as my face lit up with a smile. I realized I was in a car, and he was helping me fix the seatbelt, so his face was close to mine. “What did you do, Della? What were you thinking?" he asked worriedly, and instead of responding to his questions, I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly. “I want to go home," I mumbled against his neck. “If I didn't come earlier, do you know what would have happened? Della, that man would have taken advantage of you. I've never been so glad that I visit this bar every Friday in my whole life. I can't imagine what I would do if I wasn't here to save you." I sighed and rested my back on the car seat again. “But you showed up. You always do." This was the last thing I said before I finally lost consciousness.
