Quarantine (Evie Lucas )

Kaylie's POV

Entering Melda's secret room, we're taken aback by the dimly lit atmosphere and the overwhelming scent of herbs that fills the air. The walls are adorned with shelves upon shelves of mysterious jars, each containing a different concoction or ingredient. The room is bathed in a soft glow emanating from flickering candles strategically placed around the space, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

In the center of the room, there's a large wooden table covered with an assortment of mystical objects – crystals, feathers, and strange-looking artifacts. Books line the shelves, their weathered spines hinting at the ancient knowledge contained within. The room feels alive with energy, pulsating with the power of centuries-old magic.

Melda motions for us to take a seat on the wooden chairs in front of her, then she fetches a basin and fills it with water from a pitcher. She starts chanting again, the incantations shorter this time: "Po pi wa er kia, ho i lang peng an." Her hand stretches over the basin as if channeling the power of her spell into the water. Suddenly, the water begins to churn like the waves of the Indian Ocean during high tide. It splashes out of the basin, soaking the entire table in front of Melda.

After the water settles, we see a vision of thick, swirling dark clouds forming within it, stirred by an unseen wind. The longer we gaze, the darker and denser the clouds become, as if heralding an impending storm. And those ominous clouds are heading straight for Blue Sapphire Pack.

"That's a dark cloud," I whisper, recalling a similar incident at Red Sapphire Pack, but that time it was caused by Blake. " When a dark cloud hovered over Red Sapphire Pack, all the werewolves there lost their ability to use their mind link," I explain to Chiko.

Chiko glances at me and whispers, "So how did they get rid of the dark cloud at Red Sapphire Pack?"

Before I respond to Chiko, I sneak a glance at Melda, afraid of disturbing her concentration. Melda seems to be deep in her spell, her eyes closed, and her lips moving silently as she continues her incantation. Confident that I won't interrupt her, I whisper back to Chiko, "I told Lucas to use a helicopter to spread salt over the dark cloud, and eventually, it turned into rain and disappeared."

"Wow, that's brilliant idea . Maybe if this dark cloud reaches Blue Sapphire Pack, we can use the same approach," Chiko whispers back, impressed by the idea.

"I hope we can handle this dark cloud the same way we did before if it hits Blue Sapphire. Lucas would jump at the chance to fly his chopper and salt that thing away like he did last time," I say, trying to cling to a glimmer of optimism. But just as I'm about to latch onto hope, Melda's voice cuts in, "NO... This is different. It's much worse. In fact, Huiwi wants this cloud to rain down on Blue Sapphire. Every drop carries wicked spells. Anyone caught in that rain will be frozen stiff, unable to budge."

The three of us exchange looks, and I mutter, "So, it looks like Huiwi's pulling the same stunt Blake did, trapping people in place. Only this time, it's on a bigger scale. Before, it was just to keep Blake hidden away, but now, she's aiming to freeze everyone in the whole Blue Sapphire Pack, making sure nobody can move a muscle under that cursed rain. Maybe our only move is to quarantine the whole pack, keep everyone indoors, and out of harm's way."

Chiko nods in agreement, her expression grave. "It's like déjà vu, but on a much scarier scale. Huiwi's taken Blake's old trick and cranked it up to eleven. Quarantining the whole pack might be our best shot at keeping everyone safe," she says, her voice tinged with concern

Rose chimes in, her eyes reflecting determination. "Right. We've got to act fast and go back to Blue Saphire pack and get everyone indoors before that rain starts pouring. We can't let Huiwi get the upper hand."

I take a deep breath, trying to muster up some courage. "Okay, then. Let's get to it. We've faced tough challenges before, and we've always come out on top. This won't be any different."

The three of us agree, figuring it's the best bet to counter Huiwi's spell. Quarantine everyone indoors is the best choice now so they don't get hit by that evil rain that could paralyze the entire pack. Maybe the rain will only last a few days, not forever, and during that quarantine time, we can brainstorm the best way to clear out all the dark clouds from Blue Sapphire Pack.

But Melda's words just hit me like a punch to the gut. She says in this kind of quiet, sad voice,

"The rain not only makes people stuck, but it also can't touch the sourse of drinking water in Blue Sapphire Pack. If the drinking water gets contaminated by that cursed rain by Huiwi's nasty spell, everyone who drinks it will end up hating Luna Kaylie. That's Huiwi's evil plan. She's really gunning to make Luna Kaylie hated and drive her out of Blue Sapphire Pack because everyone, including your hubby, kiddo, bro, and maybe even Rose and Chiko, will end up despising you," Melda explains, giving me this look like she feels sorry for me.

"What???" I blurt out, feeling like I've just been hit by a truck.

Just the idea of quarantining everyone is tough enough. Now we're talking about telling them they can't even drink water or take a shower. That's a rule that's way out there. Even before we give the order, That rule's as odd as a duck in a tutu. I just know they're gonna start resenting me. The whole Blue Sapphire Pack will probably point the finger at me for their misery. Quarantine and no water or showers? Are they really willing to make such a big sacrifice for me? I wonder, anxiously chewing on my lip.
