After what happened at the training ground earlier, Alex did not speak to Arabelle anymore. He hurriedly cleaned up, then went to his workspace and locked himself in there until nightfall. Alex even ignored Arabelle, who invited him to have dinner together. He chose to eat alone in the room that was like his second bedroom.
Alex looked at the letter that arrived this morning, a letter with Arabelle's name as the recipient.
"Luke Thompson, sorry but your sweet letter didn't reach the intended person." Alex put the letter into the drawer with the other letters. Yeah, Luke had always sent a letter to Arabelle since she arrived at Morthesc Kingdom but Alex always kept all those letters and hid them from Arabelle.
Day after day he felt it was getting harder and harder. Only the day changed, but the problems remained the same and were even getting complicated. Having a long life is not always fun, there were so many bad things to witness and it was excruciating.
Alex may be an Alpha capable of leading many Packs under the kingdom, but he is still a living being with a heart that can feel pain and other emotions.
"You will not be able to produce pure blood for our kind! I curse you, unjust king! There is only one woman with eyes as red as yours and hair- akhh!" The physician's head came off before finishing his sentence.
His head throbbed with pain as the terrible memory came crashing down. "Fuck."
"The curse is real, that means it wasn't him who poisoned Caroline. Then, what really happened on that day?"
In the middle of his many thoughts, Alex realized that the night was getting late. Since the door to Arabelle's room had not been completely repaired, they were forced to sleep in the same room for her safety.
"Is she asleep?" Alex got up and decided to go to the room. "Alright, let me see for myself."
He needed a good night's sleep before an important meeting with the higher-ups tomorrow.
The Beta, Gamma and Omega who were coming would surely disapprove of his decision to keep Arabelle by his side, a human. A marriage push would definitely be proposed so that strange rumors would not arise.
Alex stopped and stood silent for a while right in front of the entrance to his room. "Why am I hesitating? This is my bedroom."
Then, he slowly but surely opened the door and his body instantly stiffened. Alex never expected that he would be presented with such an unexpected sight.
Alex immediately closed the door tightly as if someone would peek in and see a different Arabelle. Never once had he thought of Arabelle sitting on the edge of the bed in a nightgown that revealed a lot of her beautiful skin. And that's exactly what he saw now.
"What the hell are you thinking about?" Alex freaked out.
Arabelle stood with her head bowed in shame. She was surprised by the reaction Alex showed. She thought he would like it but it didn't seem so.
Alex held Arabelle's shoulder, "Why are you dressed up like this? This nightgown, isn't the nightgown too short?"
"Sorry... I thought- I thought you'd like it," Arabelle looked down sadly, feeling disappointed in herself.
Dang, Alex. Look, because of you she's so sad. She's been trying so hard to impress you, instead of being praised she gets scolded.
Alex just noticed the candles decorating every corner of his room, as well as several vases of flowers with fresh roses on the table.
The setup was quite good, Alex thought.
"Sorry for being presumptuous, Al. I-I just wanted to do something for you and the butler said this was the least I could offer since you already have everything..." Arabelle said with tears in her eyes.
Congratulations, now she's crying. Alex wiped his face, then gave a little nod. It's not her fault, she just wants to help. Calm down and don't take it personally.
"Arabelle, listen to me, you don't have to do what the butler says if you don't want to," Alex said.
"I asked for her advice," Arabelle said, "I thought you'd like this, sorry about-"
"I love it, but-"
Arabelle looked at her with big doe eyes, "But why?"
No, he couldn't. Alex couldn't bear to look into her innocent eyes without knowing anything.
"I... I don't know, I just can't."
"I'm not your type, I should have known that."
"No! No! No I- I mean... Are you sure you want to do 'this' with me? Have you ever done this before?"
Arabelle shook her head, "Never," she squeaked softly.
"Aren't you scared? I'm not human." Alex tucked Arabelle's hair behind her ear. "I can do it right now if you're willing and ready." He whispered.
Arabelle stiffened as Alex blew on her exposed shoulder.
"No matter where I look, you don't look ready." Alex looked at her gently, "Mating season is getting close, if you wanna help me, help me at that moment."
Alex went to the left side of the bed and lay down.
Mating season? Arabelle hurriedly climbed onto the bed as well, then sat facing Alex.
"What is that?"
Alex grabbed Arabelle's hand and pulled her down onto his body. "In that season, the s****l drive becomes many times higher. It's painful to restrain that passion. So, while I can still restrain myself, you prepare yourself."
Arabelle's heart felt like it was going to burst, their faces only a fist's distance apart. And then, the chest? Come on, Arabelle had felt how comfortable it was to lean there.
Arabelle tried to get up, but Alex pressed her waist even closer. Things were getting awkward for Arabelle.
"Do you understand?"
Arabelle nodded.
They looked back at each other and Alex's eyes were glued to the beautiful lips Arabelle had. Those lips looked so tempting, Alex wondered if they were as soft and supple as they looked.
Alex desperately held back his intrusive thoughts and kissed Arabelle deeply.
"Have you ever thought about kissing me?" Arabelle asked so suddenly.
Alex immediately froze. It was like she was reading his mind. "I... Honestly, yes. Since you brought it up, can I?"
Arabelle bit her lower lip nervously, then nodded.
Without wasting any more time, Alex immediately grabbed Arabelle's nape and pressed down to make it easier for their lips to meet.
Soft and warm, that's what Arabelle felt. She did not expect that Alex would do it this gently. Slowly but surely, Arabelle closed her eyes and enjoyed every lick Alex gave her lips.
"Breathe," Alex whispered in front of Arabelle's lips. "That's enough for now, thank you. It helps me feel calmer."
Arabelle pulled her body off him, then shifted to the right side of the bed.
"Alex," called Arabelle, who lay staring at the high ceiling of the room, looking up at the dim lights.
"What?"
"Don't you have any children?"
"No, I don't. Maybe later." Later, after the curse is broken.
Arabelle nodded, "For that, you must marry first."
"Of course." Alex gave a little chuckle.
"I heard your wife died while you were on the battlefield. You must be very hurt..."
"Unfortunately not."
What? Arabelle changed her position to sideways, facing Alex.
Alex gave her a quick glance, "What's wrong?"
"That's the worst of it."
"I know. Want to hear the story?"
Arabelle nodded, "If you don't mind."
