Chapter 1-Abandoned "Hurry up woman! we will be late, or don't you want your daughter to remain alive even if we know so well we both are going to die soon. The Woods pack forest is quite far from here and the earlier we started the better for the life of our daughter." Darla's Father hastens his wife, as they both were in the bedroom getting ready for an unforgettable day in their life. "Come on, you don't have to yell about this, our daughter may get to find out what is going to happen to her, will you be able to explain the reason why we want to put her through this debilitating journey 0f life. What if no one from the Woods pack finds and saves her. What if she is attacked by some animals in the forests? you know she is yet to get her wolf and can't take on any incoming attacks. let's just let her stay with us and die with us, perhaps the moon goddess might decide to show us mercy and grant our land pasture." Darla's Mom pleaded nearly sobbing. She can't take the feeling that today will be the last day she will be setting her eyes on her daughter because of the severe starvation in their pack. She knows they won't survive the hunger but she still didn't want to get her only daughter away from her forever. "No, woman! Darla is not going to die with us. we will abandon her at the Silver Crest boundary, I believe someone will find her and save her from all her troubles. We should die either than letting our innocent daughter, who knows nothing about this whole fight with the Woods pack to live. she won't die for what she never had a part in." Darla's Mom didn't want to agree to all that, as she stared through the window of their packhouse, seeing writhing of dead bodies littered on the packhouse ground. She had come to believe they were never going to survive, and perhaps her husband is right for them to try to save Darla's life by abandoning her in their enemy's boundary forest. Darla's father intends to save Darla but a small part of him still believes she could find her way and bring the Silver Crest pack revenge on the Woods pack. He didn't know how that was going to happen but he believed. While Darla's Mom stood still in her room sobbing at her daughter's picture, she knew it was the last time they will ever see Darla. She cringed as she felt a sharp pain in her stomach, they have had nothing to eat for the past three weeks as their farmland and forest is devoid of crops and meat due to the invasion from the Woods pack. She steps out of her room heading to get Darla ready for the journey, "Mom where are going to? I am hungry." Darla mumbled. Darla could feel the weird sensation in the stomach followed by a burning sensation. Drinking water right now would be catastrophic but she had no choice. Her brain had started losing a significant portion of its cognitive capability. Finding food is the top priority now. Everything else feels annoying. It's not a joke anymore because everyone had started going weak physically. Everything is hard to do and limbs are shaky. Loud noises hurt and Darla is genuinely afraid she will die of hunger. 16 hours halfway track into the Woods pack forest without food. Darla's head feels like she is drunk. It sure hurts. A feeling of having reduced awareness. There is no reserve strength and even walking is an exertion. "We are almost there." Darla's father's mumbles. They had hidden the truth behind their coming to their enemy's boundary from Darla but she will never ask why because she has lost consciousness of her surroundings. The two great packs, as a result, had turned from friends to great enemies and the Woods pack saw anyone from the Silver Crest pack as a rogue. The crisis was based on the fact that the Silver Crest was behind the reason why the Woods Packs hadn't had a male child for over a decade. The Woods king believed that the Silver Crest had inflicted such a cause on them because they had covered more boundaries and were wealthier, causing the Silver Crest to look towards them for aids. The Woods' Pack's hatred for the Silver Crest soon grew to the point that they didn't want to associate with each other in any way. The Woods halted their intermarriage law with the Silver Crest and stopped the giving of material and food aids to the Silver Crest. On getting to the Woods boundary, Darla's father glance at Darla, his eyelids are clouded with inner tears but he turned his face away immediately. "Darla, come and sit at the bed of this tree and rest, I want to go and get you some fruits to eat. I know you are very hungry right now." He said putting his finger at the base of the forest tree while Darla's Mom looked away from her daughter. "Alright, Dad, don't take much time, okay," Darla said dropping her spine low to sit down at the base of a tree. Darla's Dad walks behind in disguise, pulls out the ropes from his backpack before fastening it on Darla against the tree. Darla would scream but he clenched her mouth tight with his other hand until he had tied her to the tree, covering her eyes with a tight piece of cloth. When he was done, they set on their way back home to die, leaving their only child and daughter, Darla in the hands of fate. "I smell metallic blood." King Malcolm said to his Beta Benjamin. They had been on their boundary trying to get some meat for their pack meal. "I don't smell that either, can you tell the direction it is coming from?" Beta Benjamin asking sniffing around the woodland. Suddenly, Alpha Malcolm felt a sharp cramp within him, and then he heard a loud wail. he turned to see or hear where that sound was coming from but he noticed there was no one around him. He couldn't find a single person close. He tried to listen to himself from within again to know where that sound was coming from, then suddenly he felt an urge and began moving or rather was walking towards a direction and he was blank. He heard no idea of the direction he was heading to, but he noticed he could scent something like citrus and honey. He wasn't too sure about the scent until it pulls him uncontrollably till he found himself at their pack boundary. The scent has drawn hum to where Darla is tied to the tree. He look around him and there is nothing, everywhere was quiet, but an awful metallic smell of blood still eroded his breath. He followed through the smell to where it led him. There he stood with his Beta Benjamin in front of the devastating sight of Darla who is bleeding uncontrollably from the tightness of the rope which her against the tree.
