The hospital

I woke up as the first rays of sunshine slowly crawled into my room. I turned around and pulled the sheets over my head, hoping I could go back into my dreams, but my body didn’t want to sleep anymore. I sighed as I got myself up and stepped over to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth and put some wax in my hair. I looked at myself in the mirror. Big brown eyes were staring back at me with a frown, as my dark blonde hair was spiking in all directions. I hadn’t shaved in days, so I was getting a good stubble beard. I sighed as I turned myself in all directions, looking at all the cuts and bruises on my body. My pack was in a serious attack a couple of days ago and my body showed for it. Only, I had scars, bruises and cuts all over my body, which were healing just fine. The other pack on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky, since those wolves, including their stupid ass Alpha, were all dead or had surrendered themselves to us. Our pack handled everything just fine. Of course, we lost some good warriors. But my mind was only stuck on our Luna. She had become a victim in this fight. Something I absolutely hated, especially since it was my job to protect her at all times. I had been the official protector of the Luna, next to being the Gamma of the pack. A job I took with a lot of pride. I mean, our Alpha Jensen, would only trust me with this if he knew I was up for it and I could do what he asked of me. And I had done a good job for a long time. Only that day, I was too late to help her. The enemy had struck, as the other Alpha had stabbed our beloved Luna, right before I could get to him. Long story short, The Alpha who stabbed her, was now lying in a million pieces, scattered over some field where the fight had been. While our Luna has been lying in the hospital ever since, not waking up from her wounds. Which was driving our Alpha nuts. Frankly, I couldn’t blame him for it. It drove me wild too, and she wasn’t even my mate. Hannah – our Luna, was one of the most gentle souls I had ever met in my life. Even being the Luna, she was always kind and playful. She felt like my older sister I never had, even if she was younger than me. She was much more the adult out of the two of us, even though she was 18 and I was 22. Being her protector, we spent a lot of time together, so, of course, I grew to care for her, but it never got romantically. It would have been weird just thinking about it. She was my Luna, and I would do anything in my power to keep her safe. On the other hand, I was craving love. Since I was 18 years old, I had been searching for a mate. Up until this day, I had not found her. Each passing day, the pain in my stomach got harder and bigger. Especially since all my friends had found their mate by now and I was the only one left without one. I got jealous as I looked around and saw all my friends, sitting on cloud nine, as they fell in love with their mate and started their lives together as a pair. I couldn’t even spend time with my parents anymore, seeing how much in love they were. Something I wanted so badly but couldn’t find. I heard stories about wolves who never found their mate and I had begun to think that I was one of those. Forced to stay alone forever. I put on a tshirt and some jeans as I could feel my friend Sam, the Beta of the pack, was trying to mind link with me. I opened my mind to him and let him in. *Noah, are you up?* I sighed as I shook my head. Well, obviously, or you wouldn’t be able to get into my mind. *yup, I’m awake.* I linked back at him. *You want to join us at the hospital? We found a solution for our Luna* My eyes popped open at this news. *Ok, I’ll be right there* I stepped into my sneakers and picked up the keys from my black SUV. I hopped in and drove straight to the hospital. Our Beta, Sam, was sent out on a mission a couple of days ago. Our Alpha had found some info about a group of witches, who called themselves the ‘Blue Moon Coven’, and had asked Sam to go down there and ask them for help. Sam had actually found this group and, as I had heard, had found 2 witches to come down here. I hadn’t seen them with my own eyes but was curious to find out what a witch would actually look like in real life. Pictures of long hats and ugly noses with a wart on top flashed through my mind as I chuckled at my own fantasies. I made it to the hospital and parked the car at the first open spot I could find, walking in as fast as I could. Meeting Sam in the open hallway, who was holding on to his mate Jennie. Again, a dagger to my heart as again I was reminded, that I was all alone and there would be no one here to hold on to for me. My wolf Teagan got restless in my mind, which felt awkward for me. My wolf was never restless. But I could smell the presence of unknown creatures in this place, so I thought it was just that. My wolf maybe didn’t like witches and I couldn’t blame him, it was something unknown and I didn’t know if they could be trusted. Sam’s head spiked up as he saw me come closer. “Let’s go! Jensen just linked me, Hannah is awake!” I sighed hard in relief. Thank Goddess, she made it through! I couldn’t wait to see it with my own eyes, so I followed Sam and Jennie towards her room. Jennie first went inside with Jensen’s mother, Claire. Me and Sam decided to wait a while in the hallway. Jennie was our Luna’s best friend, so, of course, our Luna deserved some time there with the people she loved most. I was just a friend and her protector. I could wait. “So, how was it, meeting the witches?” I asked Sam as I grinned. I would have wanted to go with him on this mission, but Alpha Jensen had requested me to stay with Hannah, since she could still use my protection. Sam pulled up his eyebrows. “It was pretty intense to say the least.” Sam opened the door and walked inside Hannah’s room as I followed him in. I could spot our Luna, sitting in the bed as she was holding on to her baby girl, Sienna, who I gladly called my little niece by now. She smiled at me with her heart-shaped mouth as her greyish blue eyes were radiating with happiness and love as her mate, Alpha Jensen, was standing beside her. He finally looked like his old self again, knowing now his mate was safe and alive. I felt the energy in the room change, as Sam stepped out in front of me, making me see the whole room and everybody who was standing in it. My gaze was pulled to the left of my Alpha, where another person was standing. As soon as I saw her, all the air was pulled out of my lungs as a power washed over me. A new feeling I had never felt in my life before. I could feel I was staring at her with my mouth wide open, and all the pink had been drained from my face. All this time, this beautiful woman was staring back at me. I could feel I was holding my breath as suddenly, my shoulders rose to take in a deep breath, as I could only bring out one word “MINE.”
