A hard moment

Olivia’s POV I stood at the car as I looked at the house where I was brought up, everything seemed so unbelievable, I felt like on my throat I had a lump that threatened to come out. I was leaving back my friends and family that I had here. I felt a sudden wrench looking at the neat lawn green front yard where I have been playing all my life. “Olivia, we need to leave now if we will make it on time,” my aunt spat out, I lowered my head saying nothing going to her white SUV, this was the house they brought me up in but because of the death of my mother, aunt Rita was the one who now had custody of me.  I stared out the window as my aunt went on humming to every song that came on; I was so irritated that I just closed my eyes and sleep. “Olly…” I heard the slight whisper from my aunt call me as I slowly opened my eyes. “We are at the airport,” She said to me as I slowly groaned looking around. “Airport?” I questioned, opening my eye to see the place where we had come to. “Yes sweetie, we should board the plane now,” she said to me as I dragged myself out of the back. I wore a long floral dress and big jersey, and thongs on my legs as I stepped out of the car. I waited for her to lead the way so I can follow her. My mother died a few weeks ago, but we didn’t leave immediately as my aunt had to rent out my house and also get me a passport because I didn’t have any. I followed her behind as they checked our things at the airport before we got on the plane. “So, Olly, is there anything you want to know? I can show you a few pictures of our house so I can familiarize you before we get there,” My aunt tried to convince me with a smile on her face. I knew nothing of this woman until when I was nine years old; I don’t know why it took so long; she came once, twice, and in the last six years she hasn’t spoken to me until about four weeks ago when she came while my mother was sick. I ignored her, lowering my head. “Very well…”  she commented, turning away from me as she looked at her tablet. I sighed heavily as I thought of where I was going. When the plane took off, I knew that I will never come back here. ***************** The plane touched down at the airport and we made our way out of the board disembarking. I followed my aunt who was busy trying to turn on her phone heading to one desk they meant her to sign “Olly, can you hold this?” She said giving me her hand luggage as I got it, holding it with both my hands.  I watched her sign some documents before turning to me. “Thank you!” she vividly smiled at me as I gave her back her bag. “Let’s go, your uncle is waiting!” She said to me, leading the way as I followed her behind, my head lowered down. “Olly look! There’s your uncle!” She exclaimed as she rushed towards him. The man was in a black suit and tall. He had a nicely shaved beard and his black hair was brushed nicely to the back. “Welcome home, baby! I missed you too” He said with a deep, indistinct voice. She went in for a tight hug as she kissed him.   “Thank you, baby, I missed you more” She responded kissing him as I turned around giving them their privacy. “Oh, baby! I brought with me someone,” She said to her husband and I turned to look at the man, “Hello! You must be Olivia; my name is Paul.” He said to me, bending his head to greet me with a smile on his face. “Hello,” I said, greeting him as I shook his hand. “How are you? I have heard a lot about you” he said, and I inwardly scoffed. People knew how to pretend. He definitely knew nothing about me, but here he was making it look like he knew me. “Okay, why don’t we go home?  I am sure Olivia would like to rest,” She said to Paul as she got her bag, putting it nicely on her arm. I followed her behind as we got to the car park, Paul unlocked the vehicle as I went to get in, it was a big black SUV such that it took a struggle for me to get in. “So, Olivia, I hear you are very good at science. Is that true?”  Paul asked me, I didn’t want to respond but my mother taught me better than to ignore adults when they are talking to me. “I try” “That’s good, one day I will take you to my lab, I am sure you will love it there,” He said to me as I nodded my head looking out the window. I sat in the back of the car as the trees faded, after almost an hour of driving we finally turned into the road that seemed hard houses, I looked closely seeing all the immense houses along the road. I lifted my head as I looked out over the yards. “Oh! We are home now!” Aunt said to no one in particular but I am sure she was talking to him. The vehicle pulled over as the automatic slat gate opened; I looked ahead, seeing the driving way made of concrete; the car drove in as I looked to the side, noticing the neat lawn grass with a fountain in the middle. Aunt Rita was the first one to get out of the car and uncle Paul, I got out and I looked at the white double story house with a front balcony. “Come on in! You are welcome” she said to me as I stared at the building. These people were crazy rich. The living room alone was the size of our house back home.  I looked up, seeing the big light gold chandelier hanging onto the ceiling. The living room had glazed, polished porcelain floor tiles and a couch running around a glass table. “Hello Ma’am, welcome back” The old lady greeted my aunt as she came into the Livingroom. “Hello Abby, good to see you. This is Olivia” She said coming to stand next to me, a smile curled up on the old lady’s face as she came near me. “Wow! She looks like the mirror image of her” She said coming close as she held my hands, by ‘her’ did she mean my mother? Aunt Rita chuckled looking at Abby and me, “She does, doesn’t she? When I saw her, I couldn’t believe it either” she said stroking my hair as I looked at the old lady. “Why don’t we get you changed first, then I can show you around?” She said to me as I nodded my head, She led the way as I followed her behind as she led the way to the curved stairs on the left. “Do you think she will be fine?” I heard my Aunt ask Paul, “I am sure she will be; I am glad that you let her come with you,” he said to her as I went up the stairs. “So, this will be your room, I cleaned it for you and also packed some things that your aunt thought you might like in here,” She said opening the door to my unfamiliar room. I slowly entered the bedroom, I was welcomed by a queen-size bed that was facing the door made nicely with gray and gray beddings, to the left there was a grayish dressing table with a mirror, Storage drawer, 4-tier side shelves, and cabinet. I sauntered to the mirror looking at myself, my amber eyes looked so puffy, my frizzy curly hair falling freely onto my shoulders. “So, this is your closet, you can put your bag in here” Abby shouted from the room next, I made my way there and found a 3-foot room with shelves in the sides and a shoe rack right in front. “What’s this door?” I asked Abby, who smiled at me after. “It’s your bathroom, why don’t you go in?” She questioned as I hesitantly walked towards the room, I slowly opened the door as an enormous bathtub, and just before there was another mirror with a cabinet under welcomed me. I closed the door and walked back into the closet before making my way back to the bedroom. I looked around the room thinking about how it looked like, so this was my room from now on? I inwardly asked myself, putting the bag I was holding tight onto the bag. I sat down, lowering my head as I thought about what my mother; and now I had to live in this life. Of having things, I didn’t even want.
