"William come here, right now!" Yelled a stern looking woman walking down the marble steps of her home, her heels making loud tap sounds as her feet connected with the hard ground. "Mother, I am no longer a child, I can make my own decisions. You raised me so that I could be an independent man," a tall handsome man, who looked abut 26 year-old, said looking back at his mother with a glare. "William Johns, what is all this about?" Asked another man walking into the room not so many seconds later, he looked confused and serious but at the same time concerned. His mustache was the only difference between the two men in the room. They both had piercing brown eyes and matching dark brown hair, as well as strong cheekbones and a tall, slender figure. "Father, please tell mother she is overreacting, that I can marry whomever I wish," the younger man said not looking away from his mother, neither had turned away as if It was a competition and the loser would lose the higher ground. Silence filled the room for a while and then older man cleared his throat as he made his way to stand beside his wife in support, "William, your mother and I have discussed this thoroughly and those are the terms to our agreement if you want to become King." William looked from his mother to his father. "I cannot believe this! This is rubbish! You are mad! That is my birthright and you cannot prevent the inevitable." "As long as you are with that woman it is not your birthright and we will prevent it from happening at all cost!" Snapped the stern looking woman and her husband nodded his head in agreement. William put his hands into fist and nodded stiffly, "very well, it seems I have been outnumbered," he turned away, stiffly, and walked towards the door before turning around, "I will find a woman suitable for the position at your request but know that it is not something I want nor will it make me happy." And then he walked out of the house leaving the older couple looking at each other worriedly and just a bit guilty. ... Two months later... "Christopher I can't comprehend why they don't accept Adrianna," complained William as he passed a hand through his hair in frustration, it had been two months since his last fight with his parents and since then William limited his contact with his parents. He was sitting across another man in a small coffee shop as they drank their afternoon tea. The other blue-eyed man with blonde hair had an annoyed look on his face as he heard his friend complain for the millionth time. "William, Adrianna is a gold-digger," he replied in annoyance, he wondered why his friend couldn't see what the rest of them could... love truly is blind, no doubt. William frowned, he had never believed the rumors about his girlfriend. instead he had always tried to give her all she desired to keep her happy. That didn't make her a gold-digger or a bad person, just someone who is loved and cherished by her boyfriend. "Chris, we already talked about this, of course she is not! That is mad and absurd! I do not know who started such rubbish but they must be very envious." The man, Christopher, took a drink of his coffee and rolled his eyes but didn't push his friend any longer. When the rumors about Adrianna started to emerge about a year back, she had lost William's parents' approval, they believed a queen should portray the image of elegance and righteousness, things Adrianna didn't posses, and Christopher agreed. "Mate, believe it or not she is. I'm sorry, but the truth will be revealed one day." "I do not believe you," William said through clenched teeth, he was beginning to get angry at his friend, he couldn't believe his childhood friend Christopher, had taken his parents' side, society's side. "As your best mate I tell you the truth," replied Christopher trying to convince his friend, although he knew it was in vain, William hadn't believed him before nor would now. Williams stayed quiet, he didn't want to discuss the subject any longer, his parents bothered him enough as it was. Christopher sighed in defeat and agreed to help his friend with his ridiculous and childish request, "fine, I will help you find a girl that your parents will approve of but be warned I do not, under any circumstances, approve of your plan or what you want to do. You do realize you will be using a girl for your own benefit, right?." William smirked, "Relax, mate, she will know what she is a part of and maybe I will offer it as a job position. It will all turn out in the end Christopher, You'll see." Christopher only nodded and both men placed a tip on the table and left. ...................................................................... Christopher and William searched through out a big part of the city but no woman was fit to be the new Princess Johns, they all had something that prevented them from being the right candidates. "Come on William, there are plenty of women out there, let us keep searching," encouraged Christopher along the way as he saw how his friends anxiousness only grew but his spirit only faltered. William shook his head and sighed, "no mate, I am going to take a trip to the Americas, I have some business to attend to and I need to leave for a while but when I get back we can continue." Christopher nodded his head and let his friend walk away. Hours later, William was packing his suitcase with clothes and other essentials he needed for this business trip. At 2:00am he was sitting on the airplane's seat with his seat belt on as people hurried to find their section and seats, hoping to obtain a window seat. He kept his eyes on the outside of the plane even though he couldn't see anything outside except for the lights of the city. He took out his computer until the city under the plane was long gone. There was another woman next to him snoring softy. Her curly auburn hair shielded her face but she seemed like a young woman. William sighed and turned to look at his laptop and began to work. A couple of hours had passed and the woman began fidgeting. Soon, she yawned and looked at William. Her blue eyes looked pure and filled with kindness and intelligence and for some reason, he couldn't turn away. "And who might you be?" She asked curiously, her voice filled with humor and an American accent. William looked at the woman, he guessed she was younger than him, maybe 23 years old. "I am William Johns," he said expecting some dramatic outburst because of the name but the woman only smiled and held out her hand as if it were the most normal meeting. "Nice to meet you William, I'm Adalet Trent," she said and William shook her hand, her skin felt soft and warm in his hand and she smiled at him kindly. Attention passengers, due to some bad weather, we will reach New York 30 minutes late. Thank you for flying with us and we hope to see you soon on your next trip. Said the captain through the loudspeaker. Looking at the clock, William realized he still had a long flight ahead of him. The woman next to him must have realized the same thing because she began talking. "Where are you from Mr. Johns?" She asked. William looked at her from the corner of his eye, "London, United Kingdom." Adalet nodded her head and stayed silent, not knowing if she should continue. "And where are you from Mrs.-" William began but was interrupted, "Miss." Adalet corrected quickly. William smiled and continued, "Where are you from Miss Trent?" "I'm from Texas, United States," she responded cheerfully and changed her accent so it sounded southern. William looked up at her shocked and confused, "are you not really far from home?" Adalet shrugged her shoulders and her cheeks flushed, "not really, I've lived more than five years in New York now, that's why I no longer have a 'natural' southern accent." William nodded and got back to his work. "How about you? What are you doing flying away from home? Are you running away?" She asked and William could not understand if she meant the last part as a joke or if she was serious. "I am on a business trip," was all he responded without looking at her. He really wanted to finish checking all the protocols and numbers of the business before they landed in the airport. "Really? Me too, actually I'm going back home because I've finished my business trip," she said sounding relieved and William saw as she took out her laptop from a case identical to his. "I hope you don't mind, I have a meeting in an hour and I have some work to finish," she said taking out her headphones and placing them in her ears. William nodded, a bit relieved to be freed from more small talk with a stranger. He wasn't very talkative with people he didn't know and he still wasn't sure why she hadn't reacted when she met him although it was kind of a relief, it was exhausting to go anywhere and have people think they knew you because of what they read in the internet or in magazines. "Take your time, no worries." Adalet smiled and soon was typing away on her computer. Four hours later, the plane was ready to land. A flight attendant stopped on William's row. "Miss, Sir, we are going to land pretty soon, please put all electronics away." Adalet nodded and was already putting he laptop in her case. William quickly did the same and both of them placed their cases under their seats. Once on land, the passengers made their way to pick up their luggage. William and Adalet split up but went the same direction. Adalet took her suitcase but she struggled to carry it and place it on the ground. "Here, let me help," said William helping her carry it. Once on the ground Adelet thanked William and started to roll it away to the nearest exit of the crowded airport. At the last minute, she stopped and turned to look back at him. William was still looking at her, she seemed nervous and avoided making eye contact with him for a few seconds. She finally spoke and met his eyes with a bright smile, "It was a pleasure to meet you William Johns and welcome to New York." "The pleasure is all mine Miss Adalet Trent," he said and smiled back at her. She waved goodbye and with that, Adalet walked away, leaving him alone in an unknown city. Even though their encounter and chat was brief, for some reason she had left a great impression on him, she was just so cheerful and seemed so kind and... nice. Adalet Trent, suddenly New York seemed more interesting and exciting.
