Prologue

They saw light. I saw darkness. They saw restoration. I saw the destruction. They saw Heaven. I saw Hell. It was just a matter of time. Until the devils decided to raise from Hell to play around on Earth. I could see the annihilation. The human c*****e. The extinction. The end of f*****g days. Foolish little human. They had no idea what’s coming.  That’s what humans did best – ignore the inevitable. Live life to the fullest. The biggest lie I had ever heard.  They said they believed in God. God would never give the hardest trial to his creation. He was the one who created them. Based on his images. He knew their strengths and weaknesses better than the human themselves. He won’t play with them beyond their weaknesses. They said God was good and forgiving. They were wrong. God loved to play with his creation. He trusted his creation to take good care of the world he had created for them. Their home. To live and to die for.  They said humans were created based on him, which meant he was just as twisted as his creation. Only he lived peacefully up there in the paradise watching his creation massacring what he had given to them.  He was too good. Too generous. Too compassionate.  Humans had to taste their own medicine. Let them swallow what they had spitted. Oh, how I was eager to play. How I wanted to send every single soul here down to Hell. Allowing my minions to torture them repeatedly until they were satisfied. No, they would never satisfy. No one said there was nothing to wait for anymore after death. They had salvation when they flew to Heaven. But only torment waiting for them in purgatory.  Live life to the fullest my ass. They had no idea how life after death was anything but pleasing. It was pleasing if they could go to nirvana, but they would never get it in Hades’ home. “Having fun watching them?” my father asked, so suddenly out of freaking nowhere appeared behind him. s**t, I was nowhere in the mood to deal with him.  I cast my eyes to the corner and flicked them back. “Not really,” I replied lazily. Just f*****g go away, father dearest. He smirked. Damn him. “You were here every day.” Here we go f*****g again. Always bothering my ass whenever he felt like it. How I wished for him to leave me the hell alone. He could have something else to do besides bothering my ass. f*****g some souls would be nice. And they were my prey; not his.  He stood beside me. From the corner of my eyes, I saw him looking at them too.  This was my everyday spot. Watching them under the tree. Hiding in the shadow. The same view every day. Them playing in the garden. “Beautiful,” he murmured. “Too beautiful I feel sorry for them.” I sneered. I had to agree with him. Too beautiful because we would dirty them soon. Not them, it was her. I had to admit, she grew every single day to be more like her mother. It was like seeing the same replica. Poor daughter though. She would never know how her father looked like. I could bet her mother never told her about him. About what truly he was. Hell, she didn’t even tell her daughter what of her, possibly.  It’d been three years since Demetrius’ death. No, I didn’t kill him. Neither did my father. The damn cult took his life. Demetrius let his guard down. What a fool. What kind of a demon he was, letting his guard down and let humans killed him? They might be a cult and had this strange power, but they were still humans. No humans could do any harm to a demon. Unless they were a priest. Hell, sometimes we could overpower God’s pawns. Even killing them. But Demetrius sacrificed his life for them, for his family, just to protect his human wife and half-breed daughter. Oh, but I won’t let anything happen to the daughter. She was, after all, my secret weapon. The cult could have Demetrius and Claudia, but never the daughter. “What are you waiting for?” my father asked, flicking my eyes to him. “You could have the daughter right now. You could raise her properly, to train her to be your future wife. Her feeling had nothing to do with it. And if she’s with us since she was a little girl, she would trust us. She doesn’t need to know that she has human blood in her veins. Just raise her like a doll for our purpose.” That was actually…a good idea though.  “I thought about it once. That was my intention after Demetrius’ death. After I killed the cult, I was about to kill Claudia myself,” I confessed. “Which you failed because Felicia and Nathaniel came to the rescue,” he mockingly said. Yeah, because of that. I loathed it when someone had to remind me of my mistake. I’d always made sure I would never commit the same one. I could sin all over again but never made the same mistake twice. “Everyone is counting on you, son. I don’t want Lucifer to interfere with us. I f*****g hated it when he always asked the progress of what we’re doing.” Yeah, I knew that.  He was meddling with our business because he wanted to see the result as soon as possible. Ever heard progress takes time? I bet he didn’t, or simply didn’t care. No, the king never knew the word progress, I suppose. Only the result. But I won’t let him. Because he had let out his magic word. Do it fast or I will do it myself. Even my father said the same. Sorry, the time for the old was over. It was my f*****g time now. “I have to go back. I don’t know about you but I dislike the human world. It’s too dirty for me.” I smirked. “Send my regards to Ali.” “She missed you.” That’s what she always said. “Do me a favor and do your father’s duty justice for once.” He laughed.  “You know how both you and Azriel despise me,” he countered and for that…it was the truth. “See you around, son,” he parted and disappeared into thin air. Finally, I could f*****g breathe. I never liked it whenever I had my father around. If I could disintegrate him, I would f*****g do it.  Until I felt something on my foot. I looked down and saw a pink ball beside my shoe. Lifting my eyes, meeting the crystal blue orbs, brighter than the sky, sucking me deep to her ocean lenses.  I had no idea how it happened; I was bedeviled. “Hi, Mister.”
