Demise

I thought that my life will be different from this world. I did not expect that this would turn out like this.   The bright sky started to darken as the enemies approached. I held my sword tightly, my hands sweating and trembling from fear. I know the five deities are guiding us, but this battle will be different. The incarnation of darkness himself is on the way to our threshold.   “Everything will be okay, Peter. Just remember that I love you so much”, Third said to me smiling. I was shocked that he called me by name from the world we came from. My heart feels heavy for some reason. All the emotions I am feeling right now want to explode. Both of us came from a different world. We did not expect that we will experience what you call reincarnation. I remember the first time I woke up in this world. I was called Yari by everyone. Third was called Apo by his tribe. “I know, I know. I love you too, so much”. I replied and held out my hand to reach his. We both smiled and faced the sky, wishing that we can win this battle. Not for ourselves but for everyone that we love here in this world. “Don’t worry guys, with us together we can do anything”, Anan said while smiling cheering us. “Let’s give our best shot”, Ester said. Ani smiled too, she started to chant spells of protection and guidance. I looked up, then started to raise my Kampilan, a long straight-edged sheathed cutlass broadening toward the point. The sword started to glow and I shouted “Oh gods that guide and protect us, hear our prayers. Mayari, Goddess of the moon bless us with your wisdom. Apolaki, God of the Sun, gives the strength to drive away from evil. Oh Tala, the Goddess of the stars, Hanan, Goddess of the morning, may your divine protection bless all of us. Anitun Tabu, may your Wind and Rain purge all the darkness.” The warriors from the different tribes shouted at the top of their lungs signaling the start of the war. The battle that will decide the fate of this world. The air began to grow heavy. Silence then spread throughout the threshold. Then, started to tremble. I looked at everyone, some warriors started to show panic and distress. “We can win this battle!” Apo shouted then looked again at me. He winked and smiled at me causing my heart to jump a bit and dissolved all the worries I have now. What I can do now is to do my best and give everything I have to protect everyone. The air smelled like rotten acid and the trees started to wither. The sky grew darker and the thunder rumbled as loud as an erupting volcano. “Incoming” Apo shouted. Fire arrows started to fly in our direction. “Oh winds that purge evil, protect us”, Ani chanted. A magic circle appeared beneath us and raging winds rampaged deflecting the arrows. "Tala, use your enchantment to amplify our abilities and defense", I shouted. I started to run towards the gate. Anan and Apo followed behind me. As we were rushing to the main gate, our bodies began to glow as bright as the stars. We were surprised when we reached the gate. Sweat ran down my face. My whole body felt a chill suddenly. "We have underestimated the enemy", Anan said. Hordes of monsters were already waiting outside. "We should split up. We will open a pathway for you to reach their boss". Apo said. "Okay, please be careful. The two of you". I rushed towards the bridge. "Oh moonlight that brings peace and vanquish all evil, rain down on our enemies and show your wrath", I chanted. An aurora appeared from the sky and torrents of light fell to the enemies. Most of them were wiped out. I continued to open a path towards the Dark King. Where is he? I looked around but no signs of the evil energy. I continued to chant spells to drive away the monsters but still, no Dark King. I was getting a bit anxious.  Where could he be?   Ayari, let us go back to the camp. The Dark King appeared there. Apo shouted. Fear ran through my body.   Oh my god, Ester!   I need to hurry back to my sister.   We ran as fast as we could and caught up with Anan. "This is bad, I can't use my dimension magic. I can feel that someone is blocking the source. We need to hurry". Anan said.   Hordes of monsters were still attacking us. Apo's fist started to burn bright red and dashed towards the enemies. Boom. A loud explosion. The land cracked and trembled. Monsters were out of sight. "You don't need to use flashy moves Apo", Anan shouted. I can see our camp. To our horror, most of our tribesmen were already down. The scent of blood filled the air. An uneasy feeling creeps through my whole body. As we were getting closer, the dark energy started to rise. When we arrived at the camp, the scenery devastated me. Half of the structures are destroyed. We ran towards the direction where we left Ani and Ester. Tears fell from my face because of what we saw. Ani was lying down on the ground, covered with blood. Arrows pierced her body.   "Oh my god, Ani!" I ran towards her and held her hand.   Ani please wake up, open your eyes. I said, crying.   I can still feel her life force. She is still alive. "Anan, please heal her." Anan hurriedly chanted a healing spell. Ani opened her eyes and mumbled. She was trying to speak. "Ani, do not force yourself". Apo said, worried. "Ayari, you should hurry to Ester. She is fighting the Dark King". She said, her voice trembling.   Hearing what she said, I started to panic.   Let's go, Yari. Apo said and held his hand to help me stand.   I gathered my strength and we started to dash towards Ester. When we arrived, Ester was still fighting the Dark King. She was covered with blood. Her body was full of wounds.   "Ester!" I shouted.   She looked in our direction and her face was full of worry.   "Big brother, get away from here. You should live, Ester said trembling.   Please! She shouted.   No!   Ester was thrown backward. Apo and rushed towards her but the Dark King used his force field to hurl us away from them. I tried to stand and ignited my blade. I gathered all my energy and sprinted towards them. Again, I was knocked back. I was too late.   She was swallowed by the void. What hurt me the most was she smiled looking at me while she was being dragged to the depths of nothingness.  It feels like she was still cheering me up like she usually does.   Apo helped me to stand up. He held my hands tightly.   "Calm down Yari", he said shedding tears. "How can I calm down? Look what happened to my sister and Ani. I was too reckless and confident. I am selfish. All I think about was is victory". I said, sobbing.   Rage is what I am feeling now. My thoughts are starting to dim. I am being swallowed by anger.   I ignited my blade and shouted.   "Let's end this, Dark King".   Do you think you can defeat me? Look at yourself! Look at all of you. He laughed menacingly.   I cast a spell and aimed at the Dark King. Rays of light struck towards his direction. Nothing is happening. His forcefield is too strong.   Apo starts to chant his spell and the sky turned bright red. A huge meteor was summoned and towards the Dark King. Before it could reach the enemy. It exploded. The spell was negated.   To futile. The Dark King laughed.   "I'll end this now". He said.   He summoned his underlings and commanded them to attack us. Hordes of monsters rushed towards us.   "I'll handle this, you go to the Dark King", Apo said igniting his blade and rushed towards the enemies.   As soon as he dashed, I cast a spell of protection on both of us. I leaped through the air and aimed towards the Dark King. Our swords clashed and sparks flew out from our blades.   "You will never win, hahaha.", he said.   As soon as he said that, he vanished into thin air. I l looked around and to my horror, he was behind Apo.   "Apo, behind you!", I shouted as loud as I can.   Apo was rooted in his position. The Dark King raised his sword and slashed Apo breaking the spell I cast earlier. The King was aiming again at Apo. I gathered all my strength and leaped towards them.   I jumped between them and tried to shove Apo away.   I coughed up blood and looked in his direction. Tears started to fall from my eyes. Yari, he said reaching out his hand. We were both pierced by metal spikes from below the ground. We did not expect that the Dark King would use dirty tricks. With my strength left, I raised my hands to reach his. I looked at him and I saw him smile. My consciousness is starting to fade. Memories started to flashback. Everything that happened to me.    As my life starts to vanish, what I last saw is a full moon.
