Cobi walked into one of the rooms in the house which used to be his room till he moved out, he laid down on the bed,
The room had a gold colour and a touch of black, Cobi's mom was the one who personally designed his room, at the middle of the room was a table with a couch around it which was facing the TV that laid perfectly at the end of the wall,
There was also a mini library that had books on the shelves and a table and chairs for reading, this was where Cobi spent most of his childhood, it was filled with different memories which he wanted to forget forever, he missed his mother, she was the only beautiful thing about his childhood, she was the reason his father wasn’t behind bars yet.
He was tired of everything and everyone in his life he needed space to breath, he was feeling suffocated but that was one of the things he couldn't get right now from anyone, he got dressed in a suit which was already laid out for him, he stood in front of the mirror staring at his face where he received his morning dose of discipline but Lian’s face popped up in his mind causing him to smile, he had no idea why but Lian definitely sparked something inside him.
He walked outside the house and got into a car parked outside but it wasn't his car, he sat quietly, this were one of the days he didn't want to be around this man, he just had the best time with Lian and now his father was going to ruin it all. The drive was long and silent, Cobi kept staring at his phone like he was expecting a call or a text, his mind suddenly remembered he never had a chance to exchange his phone contact with Lian, this made him a bit more annoyed.
The car drove and got packed in front of a skyscraper building which was covered in glass from top to bottom, both Cobi and the man in his 40s walked out of the car, there were a group of people waiting for them at the entrance of the building, they all bowed to greet them, this right here was another thing Cobi hated.
Attention was something he despised the most, all he wanted was to walk into a place where nobody would know him, that was one of the reasons he hated crowded places, people come to show respect and make different request, he didn’t ask for any of this, to be the heir to his father’s firm.
"It's great for you to join us for the meeting Mr. Greber" a man greeted extending his hands for a hand shake,
“it's my pleasure to be here with your company" he answered as they both shook hands
“And this is my son Cobi” his old man spoke pointing towards Cobi who was the least interested in anything they were both conversing about; all he just wanted was to leave.
“He’s all grown up, it's nice to meet you, young master” the man turned to Cobi with a smile, Cobi wasn't the type to smile much he just stared at the man with a straight face without a reply.
"The meeting room is this way” he spoke leading them to the room and the meeting began, besides Cobi's father having one of the biggest and successful law firm in the country he also had other business line as well which made him stand out among others.
The meeting was taking too long to end which made Cobi restless, they were debating on the case of Michelle company, where about 5000 employees were killed out of negligence of the company and hazards.
Cobi's father was here to make sure that Michelle didn’t spend unnecessary money in settlement, everyone was mouthing their opinions on the matter, the meeting just went on with a lot of discussion on how that would be achieved but the options Michelle was giving he didn’t like any of them.
“Cobi what do you think?" his father asked him out of the blue, ever since Cobi was little his father always took him to his court briefings and court trails as well.
“I feel Mr. Michelle with all due respect, should pay for the damages to the deceased family, it was out of your negligence and that of your company's maintenance, they died in the first place, sitting here negotiating on what to do won’t save the situation of things” Cobi said with his eyes fixed on his father’s expression, he didn't understand why this had to be a debate.
" Cobi!!" His father raised his voice indicating he was not agreeing with what Cobi said
“Is that how you talk in the presence of these people?” Mr. Greber’s voice thundered across the room, Cobi already knew that there will be a discipline for what had just happened.
“I don't think there's anything wrong with what he said, that's the truth Mr. Greber” Michelle spoke thinking about the families in mourning, he couldn’t give them their loved ones but a compensation was the best bet.
“That why we are here, we can’t start paying compensation to about 5,000 families that will be a huge lose here and that's what we are trying to avoid, nobody is saying compensation is bad" his father pointed out trying to get Mr. Michelle’s mind from the compensation; Cobi scoffed because he knew his father all too well, he was going to make sure that Mr. Michelle didn’t spend even as much as penny for any form of compensation to those innocent families.
“I don’t think that’s the best way forward, I want you to have a meeting with my accountants and let’s see how much we can offer as compensation” on hearing this Cobi’s heart was glad someone decided to do the right thing instead of just let innocent people die for no course.
He knew his Dad was furious but it gave him so much joy.
