Disentangled

Lim Minjun, had seventeen years to live his life oh so peacefully and innocently. In those many years, he genuinely thought that failing an exam, getting scolded by a teacher or parents, being involved in a petty fight with friends were his portion of life's twists and turns. He dumbly thought that after those ups and downs he had been through, he could be considered mature enough after he got his citizen card. Well, he was not an airhead to think that he could conquer the world at such age, but he honestly believed he would have a bit more of the freedom he had been dreaming of. Like wow, Lim Minjun, as soon as he embraced the new age of eighteen he was on the wind. The amount of confidence he had when he held that ugly ID card up high, together with those deafening cheers from peers, was amazing. Oh, don't forget that one birthday gift mom gave him, a macho Kawasaki Z800 ABS with green highlights. He never thought that those hardships in his seventeen years of life were actually the only laid-back moment he would have. Only after living his eighteenth years, coming to nineteen, did Minjun realize how complicated a world could be. How unreasonable society could be. And how stupid he could be. Lim Minjun didn’t know whether what he was living up to this point was true or not. Since when did they fabricate things that involved him? Who was he anyway? Minjun was only an ordinary teen with no power in hand, no influence, and a boring personality. He was not some kind of the main character, he never wanted to be one. What was so intriguing about him for them to think that they could gain something beneficial from him? He was only an eighteen-year-old student, and an i***t too at that. Minjun was only living his life. Literally living his life. He enjoyed things he wanted as he should, just like how a teenager would be. Stupid, moderate, a couple of mistakes here and there. But he swore he had never done anything too awful for them to scheme such an evil plan. Minjun was not a model student but he confidently claimed that he was not much of a delinquent either. Minjun was an ordinary teen, not even a special case. He was only a teen who was a little bit cautious of the future ahead and he wanted to survive. He must strive forward to survive because he couldn’t depend on anyone, not even his parents. Even when his family had a promising economic state, it was proven how those things didn't even bring such a fortune for him. Later on, Minjun knew that he would still be alone on his own journey. Even when Dad was The Honorable Commissioner-General, Minjun sincerely wanted it to be lowkey. He didn't need all the glorification people put on their faces every time they met eyes. It was not like he was the one who was serving this country. Officially. So why did they lie? What kind of life was he living actually? From which point did it start? Where did he do it wrong? Moreover, of all people, why did it have to be Jisun too? Why? When he had already let himself fall. He was even willing to go deeper. Why? Yes, Minjun knew he was the main cause of her death, he was willing to pay for his sins. But if atoning for his crime also meant taking Jisun along with him, he didn't want that. What did Jisun even do to get involved with the mess in his life? Guess, Jisun's luck was not that good and maybe there was something wrong in his brain that he walked himself into this hell-circle around Minjun. And Minjun had had enough of dragging people along with him. Hyemi was enough of a life lesson for him. He didn't need more. “Let’s start over, hyung.” Jisun’s voice was shaking along with Minjun’s heart. He was holding Minjun’s hands like his life depended on them. “I can’t-” It felt like there was gravel on Minjun’s throat. "We should not, Jisun-ah." Jisun covered his face in frustration, leaving Minjun’s hands cold and disappointed. Well, Minjun deserved it, he believed. The younger moaned sadly to his palm, “no… hyung, tell me what to do. I'm stupid, I can't think.” “Jisun…” Minjun’s voice became unexpectedly weak, it made Jisun look at him immediately. Worried sick was right there on his handsome face. “I want this... whatever this is between us to work out.” “Then-” Jisun’s eyes filled with hope, he hated it. “But it was..." For God's sake, Minjun knew that this would be the cruelest thing he was ever going to say to Jisun. But he had to do this, it was for the better. He would only bring Jisun hardship if this relationship continued. "It was before everything happened, it was before I knew everything. Now, I don't think us is a good idea for us anymore." It was the first time Minjun saw the ever so bright Han Jisun crying in a room full of bright lights. So vivid, he was sure this would add to his new series of nightmares. "Hyung... you don't want me." "Jisun-ah, there's no such thing as unconditional love. It's stupid to adore someone without reason. It's nonsense, crap." Once he started, Minjun couldn't stop. "Don't cry. You look ugly with tears." Minjun said carelessly. "Look at me." The younger touched Minjun's chin then turned his head so he would look at him. Minjun was not so sure how those words he just said would affect Jisun. But he really hoped it would be enough for him to understand how this would not work in any other way. "You looked the prettiest when you cried, hyung. Even if it was not the reason why I fell for you, your crying face would be the hardest thing I will forget." Minjun didn't know why Jisun was saying that, but he was so sure he was not even crying that day. He couldn't.
