Chapter 1: Lindsey

1201 Words
"Lindsey! Wake up!!" I groan as my roommate, tabitha hollers at me through my bedroom door. "I'm up! Jeez, Calm down." my body aches as I get up, completely unprepared for my last final today. "The last thing you need is to miss your final." Tabitha counters as I head for the shower. "I know, I'm sorry. I was just up so late studying. You know I'm not a morning person." yes, I had been up studying, but I couldnt stop thinking about Robbie. I thought he was going to propose on my graduation day. That was, until I caught him f*****g Tori. I knew Tori always hated me, but Robbie always seemed to hate her back. I might sound naive, but I never saw it coming. I sigh as I turn off the shower, still wondering how I could have been so gullible. "Breakfast is ready!" Tabitha screeched, getting me out of my thoughts. Quickly I get dressed, swipe on some mascara and lip gloss and head downstairs. Tabitha is such a doll, shes my best friend. If it weren't for her I'm not sure I would be able to handle finals AND catching Robbie. "Good morning, are you ready for your final?" Tabitha questioned and she took a bite of her eggs. "As if, I'm just ready for it to be over." I groaned. "Well Linds, I've been thinking. After your final we have alot of stuff to pack up before were ready to move." "yeah, and....?" I cant help but be annoyed. This week is already so busy, I cant believe Robbie chose now to betray me! I can feel my blood start boiling with anger. "what if we skip the party tonight and finish up everything here? then we could just take off tomorrow. We can come back for graduation, but I think we should get out of this memory filled hell ASAP." God, I love this girl! she knew exactly what I needed, usually before I did. "How did you know I need that?" I questioned as my bestfriend gave me a hug for comfort. "I always know!" Tabitha explained. "Oh s**t!" I said noticing the clock. "I have to go, I'm gonna be late!" stuffing everything I needed into my bag I waved good-bye to Tabitha, and made my way to finish my education. ..................................... I breathed a sigh of relief as the fresh air hit my lungs. I'm finally done, my last final completed. Come graduation day I will have my masters degree in literature. I've always had a love for words. Hopefully one day, I'll be as famous as my heroes. As I turn the off the sidewalk, I see Robbie, pounding on the front door. "Please Linds, let me explain. It's not how it looked, I swear!" As I watched him beg for me to listen, I wished the ground underneath me would just open up and swallow me whole. Unfortunately he turned around before I could run. "Lindsey, baby, there you are. I thought Tabitha had you locked up." he joked. "Go away Robbie! I have nothing to say to you. you know what you did, there's no way it was just an accident." I screamed at him. All i can picture is Tori on top of him while they moaned eachothers names. Before he could answer me, Tabitha threw open the door. I saw my chance and I took it. Slamming the door on him before he a chance to say anymore. "Are you okay?" Tabitha asked and I held onto the door for the strength to stand up. "I dont know" my eyes tearing up as I can hear Robbie yelling through the door. "Please Lindsey, I swear I wont give up on us! It's not what it looked like!" My heart broke even more with every word. How could he even say that? I know what I saw, and he was as involved as she was. Her chilling smirk when she saw me has haunted me since. "Lindsey, let's go upstairs and talk. I had another idea while you were gone and numb nuts was yelling at the house." I followed Tabitha upstairs, feeling completely broken and defeated. As i went to flop onto my bed, I noticed halfway down my bed wasnt there. THUD! "OHMYGOD! Lindsey I'm so sorry I forgot I moved your bed." My bestfriend informed me while trying to hide her laughter. I groaned propping myself up on my elbows. "Why did you move my bed?" I giggled back at her. "Well, that brings me back to my idea!" she said with that mischievous look in her eye. "Oh God, dare I ask what your idea is?" "I was thinking..... I talked to my family today and that's when Robbie showed up yelling and screaming at the house about how he loves you and he wont leave until you forgive him." "Like f**k that's going to happen!" I interjected. "I know, that's why you and me are going to spend the night at a hotel and my parents and Louis are going to come finish moving for us!" "What?!?" I shrieked. "Louis can't move my stuff. I have lady items." I said emphasizing the words. Louis is Tabithas brother, he's 3 years older than us. We all used to be really close until middle school when he started picking on me whenever we saw eachother. Of course, Tabitha knew I had a crush on him as kids. Until middle school that is. "I know but my mom can take care of that part. Hes just going to be extra muscle" Tabitha said interrupting my thoughts. As I thought about it I could still hear Robbie hollering from outside. "Okay, I'm in!" I said with a smile happy that soon Robbie would be behind me, completely in my past where he belonged. "Okay, b***h, pack a bag!" Tabitha giggled as she headed towards her room. ................................................... I've always loved hotels. Not big chain places, but the smaller ones, mom and pop type places. They've always had a home-y feel to them. What I assume is what a parents home is like to a child. I'll never know, my parents died when I was 3 years old. My moms sister and her husband adopted me, but they always made it clear I was unwanted. As soon as I was accepted into Brightwood University, I was as good as gone. I haven't seen or heard from either of them since. "That tub was amazing!" Tabitha sighed as she threw herself onto her bed. "you say that every time." I giggled at my bestfriend. We met when I moved in with my aunt and uncle. She lived 3 houses down in a beautiful 3 story house (essentially a mansion), compared to our house. When we were both accepted to Brightwood, her parents bought a small house near the university for us to live in. I've always loved Tabithas parents, they are the closest people I have to parents. All these thoughts are swirling in my head as I fall asleep. The last thing I remember thinking is thank God I never let Robbie meet my aunt and uncle.
