Her pain and terror now ripping through my body. How can I do this to my mate? How can I ask to claim her as my mate, vowing to protect her, to provide for her, to turn her in a wolf; yet make her feel is terrified of who I really am, who my wolf really is?
“Hayden, I’m sorry.” Reaching down, I picked her up off the map, cradling her into my chest.
“Please, Paperella, forgive me.” The soft whimpers pressing deeper into my chest. “Please speak to me Paperella. Say something.” The silence was killing me, and her whimpers were hurting worse.
Hayden sniffled while wiping the tears from her face and shifted out of my lap. I grasped her left wrist as she slipped off me.
“LET ME GO ERIC!” She screamed and tried to tear her wrist from my grasp. Tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. Taking a deep breath in, I could hear her heart rate decrease as she calmed herself.
In a calm soft voice, she spoke again clearly. “I said, let me go.” She stood there in front of me with fire blazing through her, her wrist still in my hand.
“Pap….” She turned pitting her right hip forward and clutched my wrist with the wrist I was holding, pulling it towards her. WHACK! Pain erupted through by left cheek and jaw and her closed fist connected with it. My wolf busted out of me as my eyes turned gold, letting out a yelp.
