In the heart of the Blue Moon Pack's territory, alpha Rex Edinburgh's reign is threatened by treachery and betrayal within his own family.
In a twist of fate, he rejects Luna, his mate chosen by the moon goddess, based on deceitful accusations orchestrated by his brother Richard and Richard's conniving partner, Seraphina, and because of this, the pack is thrown into chaos and confusion. His hands tied, he has to choose his people and the land first over his desires and despite the fact that his heart aches for his mate and he is uncomfortable with his decision, he banishes Luna from the Kingdom.
Richard, Rex's older brother who believes he should be the alpha instead of his brother, has ulterior motives to why he makes sure Luna is banished. He wants the alpha throne for himself, and having made findings through a seer in the kingdom, he knows that Luna possesses powers that can make it difficult for him to take control of the kingdom. Hence he conspires with his partner, Seraphina, making sure she is banished.
In the same vein, he joins forces with the long and ancient rival of the blue moon pack, the rival black moon pack, enticing them with the offer of a shared alliance and the greatness of the two kingdoms coming together when he becomes the alpha. Tensions rise to the fore as the black moon pack agrees to his bidding, and they attack the blue moon pack in a war that breaks the peace that has bound the entire werewolf community for years.
Weakened by the fact that his own brother leads his enemies and has used his knowledge of how the blue pack army operates to infiltrate and ambush them, Rex Edinburgh flees his throne and his people, knowing it is better for him to still live than to be killed by his power driven brother.
Meanwhile, Luna's heartache knows no bounds as she grapples with the betrayal of her chosen mate. Haunted by memories of their love, she finds solace in the arms of her distant relative, her mother's sister, biding her time in a town far from the turmoil of the pack. Will she ever forgive Rex for his unfounded accusations and find the strength to trust him again?
As Rex makes his way into rugged landscapes and forges unlikely alliances, he is tested at every turn. Can he overcome the doubts that plague him and prove himself worthy of Luna's forgiveness? And with Richard's grip now tightened on the kingdom, will Rex's quest for redemption be enough to thwart his brother's ambitions?
