Gareth was an experimental soldier and his first mission was to neutralise the base where he was created. After realising that he was a target to be eliminated he tried to escape however his transport was blown to smithereens and he fell into a portal where he became trapped and tortured. When he finally escaped he was tired and mentally broken and just wanted to live in peace however he ends up being plotted against after he was a little too outstanding in assisting the military.
