Chapter 3

Carra's P.O.V

That was weird, Lucas had walked over to us and not even looked my way. Not that I cared or anything, I thought frowning to myself. I wonder what he wants to talk to Eric about.

“Carra do you know Lucas?" Anna asked excitedly

"I've mean I meet him yesterday, but I would not say that I know him." I replied.

"Carra, he's the most popular boy in school. He and his friends are the most popular kids."

The thought of that made me cringe. Adam had been the most popular boy at our school too. All that got me was hate and people being truly ugly to me. I hated that Adam could still get to me that he was still interfering with my life.

"I don't care to be friends with the in-crowd Anna. I just want to fall into the back ground I don't want to stand out." I said meaning it.

"I know what you’re thinking, but Carra he's not like that. None of them are, there all nice. I've never actually meet any of them, but you never see them being ugly to people. Or thinking that there better than anyone." She defended him.

Maybe she was right I could not judge them all by Adams actions.

Lucas's P.O.V

“I wanted to see if you could come over to my house after school. I want to talk to you about something, but I don't think that this the place to do it." I told Eric.

"Does this have something to do with my sister? I don’t think she's ready to get involved with any one right now." Eric said a look on his face.

"Look, all I want is for you to hear me out that's all." I said pleading my case.

"Fine, give me your address and I'll meet you there. I'm going to get back to Carra now. I want to make sure that she's ok." He said looking towards the cafeteria.

As I watched him walk away I pulled my phone out and hit speed dial.

"Mom I need your help," I said when she answered.

"What is it son?"

"I invited my mate's brother over after school. So that I can explain what we are. Plus, the whole mate thing. I'm hoping that if he knows about us and what a mate is he can help me with his sister."

"Alright son you know I'll help you any way I can."

"Thanks mom is dad home yet?" I asked hoping he wasn’t.

"No but he should be here by the time you get home from school."

"Mom, do you think that he's going to be upset that I'm not going to mate with Alexia?" I asked anxiously waiting for her response.

"Lucas, your father may be stubborn but even he knows to never get between mates. True mates are rare, and I know he's going to be happy for you." She said reassuring me.

"I hope so mom."

"Don't worry about it so much fate says that the two of you are meant to be together and fate will make sure it works out."

"Thanks mom," I said as I hung up.

“So, I'm guessing your mom’s in," Stephen said with a grin.

"Yea she is."

Man, I loved that women I thought smiling. There had never been a time that she didn’t have my back.

Carra's P.O.V

"So, our school is throwing this giant carnival and schools from all over are invited," Anna said looking over at me.

"Everyone one here is so excited there's going to be allot of different bands. Lots of food and games," she said smiling.

"I'm on the committee and we still have to find volunteers. So, if you want to help out let me know we sure could use the people.”

I looked at her for a few minutes not quite sure as to what I was going to say. I was kind of scared, but I knew I didn't want to live my life like that forever. So, before I decided to change my mind I said, "sure.”

"Really, Carra. Omg thanks. Maybe you can convince your hot brother to help out too." She said with a sheepish grin.

“Ewe Anna! Don't want to hear about my brother being hot." I said laughing.

"Who's hot?" Eric said from behind us.

Anna turned bright red and we both busted out laughing.

"None of your business Eric." I said trying to not laugh.

"Women!" he said throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

"Why do you guys have to be so complicated?"

"Oh, shut up brother you know you could not live without us." I teased.

"That sis is the truth,” he said with a smile on his face.

Finally, school was over. Eric caught up to me at my locker and we walked to the car together.

"So Carra how was it?” He asked turning to look at me.

"To be honest it really was not that bad. I met Anna and already I feel like I've known her forever. I like her."

"That's good Carra. I don't want you to live your life affected by what that ass hole did to you. I’m glad you met Anna."

"Me too. I think I'm finally ready to try to get past all that ugly stuff and start fresh."

"I'm glad to hear that I'm ready to get my sister back." He said with tears in his eyes.

"So best brother in the entire world, Anna wanted me to ask you if you could volunteer at the carnival the schools having. She already got me to agree to do it, but she still needs more people." I said giving him my puppy dog face.

"How can I say no to that face. Tell her I'm in." He said with a grin.

We pulled up to our house, but he didn't turn off the car.

"Are you going somewhere Eric?" I asked.

"Yea I'm going over to Lucas's house to hang out for a while," he said not meeting my eyes.

"Ummm ok, I'll see you when you get home." I said getting out of the car.

I headed inside knowing that there was something that he was keeping form me.

Lucas's P.O.V

I knew Eric would be here any minute and I was really anxious about how this was going to turn out.

"Quit pacing Lucas you’re going to make a hole in the rug." Stephen said frowning.

"I've never seen you like this before your always so clam about everything. The pack is all behind you no matter what we will make him understand what she means to you. You’re our future Alpha act like it! Calm the hell down!"

“Your right Stephen, she just ties me in knots and I get this fear that she will never accept me." I said voicing my fears.

"Lucas, your friend just got here. Do you want me to bring him to you or do you want to go to him?" My mom asked threw the mind link.

"I'll come out to him." I said going out to the den Stephen at my heels.

I wasn’t sure I was as ready as I wanted to be to have this conversation, but it was happening.

"Eric thanks for coming. This is my mom Emma.” I said introducing my mom.

"Nice to meet you ma’am" Eric said politely extending his hand to her.

She took his hand and smiled at his politeness.

"I've asked her to be here because what I have to tell you may be hard for you to believe. She can explain things that maybe I can't.” I said looking at his confused face.

“My family and I can shift into wolves. Stephen is a shifter also along with my whole pack.” Eric's jaw dropped in disbelief.

"Are you out of your mind! Do you really want me to believe that you can turn into a wolf? Your crazy stay away from me and my sister!" He said getting up to leave.

"What if I could prove what I'm saying is the truth?" I said hoping he would hear me out.

"How could you do that?" He said sitting back down hesitantly.

"The only way I know how. I'm going to have to show you."

I pulled my shirt off and then stared taking my shoes and jeans off.

"What the hell are you doing Lucas?" Eric yelled shocked.

Just like that I turned into my big black wolf. Eric sat their shocked mouth hanging open.

"Stephen, is that really him?" Eric asked still not believing what he was seeing.

"It is, we can all shift."

"How is this even possible?"

Eric's P.O.V

I couldn't believe what I had just seen. Things like that didn't happen in real life. Did they? Emma came and sat next to me on the couch and I couldn’t help but wonder what all this had to do with my sister.

"I know this is hard for you to process son. Lucas means you nor your sister no harm. Quite the opposite in fact. Lucas is the future Alpha of our pack and he has finally found his mate. Your sister,” she said smiling.

"Lucas what the hell does she mean?” I said looking over at him.

"It means that she's the one person that's made just for me she's my other half. Before you say anything else let me explain a little about what finding your mate means.”

Wolves mate for life I would never be unfaithful to her. She is all I want or need. I would die for her. I would never let anyone hurt her. She is the reason I breath. I live for her and only her, all I want is to make her happy. My wolf needs to be near her it needs to make sure that she is safe. Your sister as my mate is the future Luna of this pack, so anyone in my pack would die for her. She is one of their future leaders even if she doesn't know it yet.” He said meeting my eyes.

I could see the truth in his eyes, but it was still a hard pill to swallow.

“Although you may not believe me I love her already. And I think she feels something for me too. Her being human will slow down how she reacts to me but over time her feelings for me will only get stronger and stronger. That is that is the way of mates.”

"What if she does not want to be your mate?" I asked.

"It doesn’t work that way Eric. We are made for each other she can fight it all she wants but, in the end, we will end up together. She’s perfect for me and I'm perfect for her. If she was a shifter then we would have been together already she would have felt that I was her mate right away." He said sadness in his face.

"I don't know why, but I believe you. I believe that you do love her. If what you say about mates is true, then I'm glad that Carra is your mate. I know that you would keep her safe if I could not. It’s not going to be easy to win her over. Carra has been through a lot. Let me tell you about what happened at our school and why she's so scared of you and all guys.” I said hoping she wouldn’t kill me for telling her business.

Lucas's P.O.V

The rage I felt when Eric was telling us what Adam had done to Carra was hard for me to control. My eyes were glowing, and my claws were coming out.

"Bro calm down I know you’re pissed so am I, but little one has us now and he will never hurt her again." Stephen said struggling to containing his own anger.

“I know it must have been hard to see your sister suffer that way and I'm thankful that she had you to defend her. I'll never let anyone hurt her again but in order for me to protect her I need you to help me get close to her. She runs away from me every time I come around." I said amused.

"I think I may have the perfect way for you to spend more time with her without her thinking anything of it." Eric said with a grin.

"I just need you to take things slow with her don't push her to hard.”

“I better get going mom hates it when I don't make it on time for dinner. Meet me in front of the school tomorrow and I'll tell you my plan." He said with a grin.

Why was I thinking that I was not going to like this?
