Chapter 1

~ANGELO~ Humongous trees with purple leaves filled my vision as they adorned the forest and added to its already rich beauty, trees that protected the unique ice structure between them. I stood above the rectangular glassy box that seemed to be completely made of ice, my wings were soaring behind of me and blowing the scattered leaves everywhere. I flew in closer to the box, my curiosity getting the best of me. As my eyes focused on the object, a nerve  suddenly struck at me, shock filling my body. Striking hazel eyes stared straight back at me, the prettiest shade I'd ever seen. The whitest of hair and reddest of lips was all that I could see for a good few seconds. Beautiful. Her hands raised to my cheeks, "Angelo. . ." I awoke with a start, my body overcome with sweat. "Another one of those dreams sire?" I let go of the breath I'd been holding and focused on the male servant. "I've been having them every night for the past month. I don't know why it isn't going away. . . I'm basically seeing the same exact thing in each dream." The older man seemed to be deep in thought. "It could be trying to tell you something. Dreams that don't stop usually are a sign, you're probably missing whatever it's trying to show to you." Was that it? What could I possibly be missing? Maybe there was something in those woods? I knew where to find it just by the image in my dreams, it was known to everyone as the forest of colors. The trees there often changed their leaves from green to pink, yellow, red, any color you could think of. However, that forest had been closed off to the rest of the world. It was simply off limits. But it wasn't the forest that kept me up at night, it was the girl with white hair and hazel eyes. . . The girl with pretty red lips, lips that I somehow desperately needed to kiss. I wiped at my face, the sudden thought pricking at my skin. "If you don't mind me asking your highness, what are these dreams about?" he asked. "Maybe I could help you if I understood what they entailed." I studied the man in front of me, was it a good idea to tell him? "I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the forest of colors," I said, unsure if to continue by the way his eyes widened at just the mention of it. "I keep seeing it every night . . . I'm sure it's that forest, the colors alone gives it away. But what's strange is that I keep seeing a young girl—," I paused at the sound of a plate crashing to the ground. I gazed up at the man to find his hands trembling and his eyes wide with fear. The plate was broken into a million pieces at his feet and the elderly man looked as though he'd just seen a ghost. "I-I'm sorry sire," he apologized. "I should get this cleaned up before your parents see the mess I've made." "Is something wrong?" I asked him. "Is it possible you know more about the legend than I know?" I was used to people reacting a certain way about that specific forest. It was due to a legend that had spread all over Mytheland. However, I'd never seen the elderly man act this weird before. "I'm sorry your highness but I can't speak about the legend or anything to do with that witch. . ." he apologized. "Your mother would have my head if she heard me telling you anything about it." Before I could ask him what he meant by that, the man was already out of the room. Well that was weird. "What did you do to that poor old man?" Nathaniel asked as soon as he walked through the open doors. "He's running down the halls as though he's seen a ghost." I shrugged my shoulders. "Are you busy today?" His brow rose at my question. "Oh hell no, you're not tagging me along in one of your crazy adventures again." "Nathaniel," I growled. "I always bring you back in one piece don't I?" His eyes narrowed. "It's true that my body is always unharmed, however my mental health is always almost ruined because of you!" I fought the urge to laugh at his words. "Get your weapons ready, we're leaving in ten minutes." He frowned. "Is this your way of getting out of the meeting with that woman Seraphina in which mother has worked so hard to set up?" I scowled at him. "Mother knows that I don't want to marry, now or ever. Yet, she continues to force me to meet that woman." Nathaniel chuckled. "The girl clearly has a thing for you. Why don't you finally give up your lonely lifestyle and start dating, you might even like it." I shook my head," I saw what being in love made you do. You sacrifice everything for the other person. I saw how miserable it made my friend Cayden. I don't want to be like that one day." "Cayden?" he asked. "You mean that werewolf who fell in love with the fairy and broke the rules? Damn, I wondered where you'd went missing for those few days. If mother knows you had any part with that battle, she would freak." I did take part in the battle. Though no fighting had really taken place, everything got settled with the council. I was happy for my friend that he could be happy with the woman that he loved, however it wasn't something I would wish for myself. "She won't find out and what she doesn't know wouldn't kill her." He laughed. "It's funny that you think mother wouldn't know of this. I'm sure she's just waiting for the right time to throw it back in your face." I shook my head, not finding anything funny about that. "Let's just get out of her before Seraphina shows up." He chuckled but did as I said. It was always amusing for my brother, the extent in which I was willing to go just to get out of one of our mother's planned matchmaking trials. I hated those things. Love was not something I wanted to get mixed up in. It didn't take long for us to gather everything we wanted to take along with us for the trip and we were already on our way in less that fifteen minutes. "Where exactly are we going?" Nathaniel asked midway through. We were up in the sky, our gigantic wings soaring above us in a steady flow. "You'll see eventually." "I'm not sure I want to see," he pointed out. "From the looks of it, there is only one place we could be headed. Please tell me it isn't where I think it is." "I can't tell you that." "What the f**k Angelo?" Nathaniel shouted above the roaring of the wind around us. "You can't possibly be thinking of going to that bloody cursed forest!" I shrugged my shoulders, breathing in the fresh air. "I am, but you have nothing to fear. We're just flying above it. We're not actually walking through the damn place." I didn't look to see his expression at my words, but I could only guess how pissed and anxious he was. "I swear, if you make us run into that witch girl from the legends. . ." I laughed. "You actually believe that there's a girl buried in these woods?" "I mean," Nathaniel started to speak. "There must be a reason why here is off limits to everyone. No one ever risks coming here. The legend must be true, it shouldn't be taken lightly." Nathaniel, my younger brother has always been the cautious one out of us two. Somehow, I always managed to get him to tag along in all of my adventures however. "Besides, you did say that you've been having dreams of this forest for weeks now," he pointed out. "As far as we know, that could be why you've been dreaming it. The girl is supposedly that witch Theodora's daughter, from everything mom and dad has told us about her I would think it's enough to tell us what type of person her daughter must be. She can be using a spell to bring you to her, so that you can somehow awaken her." I looked at my brother as though he'd lost it. "Not every single legend you hear will be completely true, with some the truth is stretched to make it more interesting for those folks who like a little too much story time." As I said the words I couldn't help but think back to the dream however. There was indeed a young lady in my dream, one buried in a rectangular ice sculpture. A lady that haunted my dreams . . . Even when I was awake I felt like I could still see her everywhere. It was the main reason I decided to come here, but it wasn't something I was about to admit to Nathaniel. "I'm not so sure about that Angelo. So far all legends in Mytheland have come to pass—aahhhh." He didn't get to finish his sentence as a strong wind picked up around us. So strong that we were now twirling in the air. Where the f**k did that storm come out from? Before I knew it we were both tumbling to the ground at incredible speeds. I braced my head for impact, the trees breaking my fall before I landed flat on my back against the hard ground. I groaned and looked around for my brother. I spotted him a little distance away, luckily for him he'd landed in a pond. "I told you," Nathaniel grumbled as he approached me, soaked from head to toe. "We were just supposed to fly above the forest, now look at us trapped down here. It's going to take at least a day before your wing heals." "You don't have to stay here, go get some help. Maybe you can find a healer who can fix me up a lot faster." "Are you sure you want to stay here?" he asked. "This place gives me the creeps." I nodded. "Just go brother, I'll be fine." He was hesitant at first but eventually agreed. I leaned back against a tree the moment he left, watching a nearby bird fly around me. It was pulling at my shirt now, this was the first time I'd ever seen an animal act this weird. "What do you want?" I asked. The little bird perked it's head and it almost looked as though he was telling me to follow him. "No can't do buddy, if Nathaniel comes back and I'm not in this exact same spot the boy would freak out." As the bird persisted I eventually gave up. It wouldn't hurt if I followed him and came back here in time for my brother to find me. I winced in pain as I forcefully got off the ground and followed the damn thing. It felt like we were walking for hours before it finally stopped. It took me a moment to recognize where we were. My vein threatened to pop at the site. Gigantic trees with purple leaves. . . I swallowed, my eyes traveling between the two. I paused and held my breath for a good minute, was that a glass ice box? How the f**k hadn't that thing melted yet? But even more than that. . . Why did I see this exact same thing in my dream? Was I possible that I was dreaming once more? I wouldn't be surprised, it's happened to me before. I hesitantly walked towards it, my foot mashing the twigs and fallen leaves on the ground. I leaned down and took a closer look, wiping away the leaves that prevented me from seeing inside of the beautiful ice structure. I wasn't prepared for the sight that appeared before me however. My breath caught in my throat and lighting seemed to strike above my head. Was that. . . The woman from my dream?
