Chapter 3: His Arrival

2500 Words
Third Person's Point of View "Hello, Alpha Miles speaking." The voice spoke from the other side of the phone as soon as the call connected. Andrew took a deep breath and spoke next. "Hello, Alpha Miles. This is Alpha Andrew, Alpha of River Red." "Yes, Hello Alpha Andrew. How may I help you?" Even though the voice of the alpha on the other side seemed calm and friendly but there was a slight hint of annoyance to it also and why not! It was 2 in the morning. "I need your permission to enter Walkers." Andrew spoke carefully. "May I know the reason?" Alpha Miles asked on the other side of the line, his tone giving away that he was annoyed. Gone was his calm and friendly tone. If he could, he would have cut the phone and added his number to the blacklist but he couldn't do that. His hands were tied by the council. "I got a lead of my she-wolf." Andrew declared thinking about that blue-eyed she-wolf. He was desperate. His wolf was eating him away. It has already been almost a month but it felt like years. He and his wolf craved for her. They knew that there was nothing they could do without her. His wolf was slowly parting away from him because she wasn't around. It was making him miserable. It was making him weak and as an Alpha, it was the last thing he wanted to be. Wasn't she feeling the same pain of separation? Didn't she miss him the same way he did? Didn't she crave him like he did? Didn't she want him like he did? What if she really didn't want him? No! Andrew pushed all these thoughts aside and concentrated on the conversation with the other Alpha instead. "And?" "I think she is in Walkers." Andrew declared after which silence followed on the line. Both the Alphas were in deep thought. Whilst Andrew's thought comprised the black-haired and blue-eyed she-wolf, Miles' thoughts were clouded by doubts and annoyance regarding the alpha on the other side of the line. Will it be safe to let another Alpha live in his territory? What if he collects some confidential information and uses it against his pack? What if he poses a threat to his pack? But this matter involved his mate and if he didn't grant him access to his territory then the council will be involved and the council was the last thing he wanted to invite to his territory for something even as mundane as a cup of tea. "Access granted. When are you coming?" "Day after tomorrow." "Okay. Send me your flight's details and I will send my Beta to pick you up." "I will. And thanks for the help." Andrew said which made Miles' blood stop flowing. Did he just say thanks to him? It was impossible! He was a sociopath! He shook his head and bid him goodbye before he disconnected the call. Andrew sighed and put the phone away as he continued looking at the spreadsheet on his computer screen. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't push those blue-eyes aside. ~ Erika stared at the big banner that read - Walkers' School of Computer Science. Her mouth was slightly open as she stood in front of that humongous building, dumbstruck. She couldn't believe that finally, she was doing what she wanted to do –having a Masters in Computer Science. Even though she was late for the semester but still the college accepted her application because she had the highest score in the entrance exam. She took a deep breath as she stepped inside the building. Finally she was doing something for herself. She was persuing her dream and nothing could make her happier. She pushed aside all the worries and preceded to the thing she liked the most. As she walked down the hallways and neared the office to get her schedule, she was greeted with a group of giggling human girls. She shook her head at them but soon found the reason behind their behavior. They were looking at MJ who was standing by the office door reading a college journal and totally oblivious to the fact that some human females were checking him out. Erika eyed her Gamma suspiciously as she neared him. Being a werewolf it gave them extraordinary powers and also good looks and right then MJ looked nothing less than a Greek god to those human girls. He was good looking anyways. He was 6'3'' tall with blond hair and golden eyes. His skin was clear like all other werewolves and had muscles to show that he spent a good lot of time working out. He looked straight out of a magazine and so did Erika. "And what are you doing here?" She asked claiming his attention. He looked up and smirked at the Beta. "I got admitted too." "Oh really? You are doing Masters in computer Science too?" Erika asked cockily crossing her arms on her chest. "Nah. I signed up for the Bachelors course. I liked the demo classes and thought to give it a shot." MJ explained as his eyes fixed at something behind Erika. Erika noticed this and turn back to find the same group of girls throwing flirtatious looks at MJ and eyeing her jealously. MJ winked at them and the girls squealed with excitement. This made Erika roll her eyes at him. "Ah, I am going to like this course." MJ said checking the girls out who were already putting everything they could to get his sole attention alone. "Don't go around being a Playboy or aunt Malini will hear about this from me." Erika warned. Saying that she was being territorial would be an understatement. She didn't want MJ to turn into another Miles. She knew about Miles' one night stands and she didn't want MJ to go around sleeping as well. "Ah, there's no harm in sle-" "Wait for your mate." Erika cut the Gamma midway and glared at him. MJ took a deep breath and walked away. At this moment she realized that she has to become the mother hen or it was not going to work for them and she wouldn't hesitate to use Oculus Carver (her staff) on them. She didn't have any control on Miles but she sure could control MJ. All she wanted that he didn't get his heart broken, the same way she broke the silver Alpha's heart. She pushed all these thoughts aside and entered the office. In the office, the attendant handed her the schedule and a map of the college with which she went to her first class, following the map. She reached her first class which was already filled with students but the professor hasn't arrived yet. She knew she was late for the semester but she didn't care. She made her way to the benches but couldn't find an empty place. The whole place was filled with mostly humans but she sensed a werewolf in the class. She neared him and took the seat beside him. Previously he was busy with his phone but as soon as Erika took a seat beside him, the wolf froze. Erika knew that the wolf beside her could sense her, especially her Beta wolf. Slowly the wolf lifted his head and looked at Erika. Erika examined the wolf. He was red-headed and had vibrant green eyes with beautiful clear skin. He was good looking for both the species. "Hi." Erika said first to lighten the tension that seemed to have built around them. "H..hello." The wolf stuttered. He was aware of Erika's wolf. "I am Erika, Beta of Red Moon and Walkers." Erika said extending her hand. She was somewhat relieved to find a werewolf in this sea of humans. One look at the wolf and Erika knew that she could be friends with him. He looked sober, simple and decent. She needed someone down to earth and at the moment looking at the wolf before her, she couldn't think of a better option. The wolf in front of her hesitated for a moment before taking Erika's hand and shaking it lightly. "Beta Erika, I am Isaiah." The wolf said and Erika smiled at him. "No need to call me Beta. Just Erika will do." She said and the wolf smiled at her lightly. He seemed sweet. Erika was glad to find someone. She couldn't imagine herself being alone in college and feel like a sociopath. Not that she was not alone already. She ran away from her mate and however hard she tried, she felt an unbearable pain. It felt like a hole in her chest as if something was missing. He was missing. Her wolf wanted to go to him badly but she knew better than to give in the bond. College was for socializing and making friends and this was the perfect opportunity for Erika to act like normal girls her age and also get busy enough so that she didn't get time to think about that Silver-headed alpha. Soon, the two werewolves got involved in small talks. The more they talked, the lighter the tension got between them. By the end of the class, both were friends. Together they headed to the next class where they met Isaiah's friend who happened to be a she-wolf named Sameen. Her personality was as dark as her skin and at first, she seemed cold. It surprised how the chirpy and forever-merry Isaiah happened to be friends with the cold and distant Sameen but keeping the fact in mind it was her first day, she couldn't judge. Most of the day went by learning Coding. Erika was enjoying herself and liked all her classes. Soon, it was lunch and the three friends went to the cafeteria. There they took a seat. "Can I join?" A voice spoke from behind and the three of them turned to find the Gamma of the Red Moon and Walkers pack standing there with a grin plastered on his face. "Sure." Erika said. As MJ took a seat beside her, the other two wolves grew nervous as they were sharing the table with two powerful wolves at the same time. Erika noticed their uneasiness and introduced Miller Junior to her friends. "Isaiah and Sameen, this is the Gamma Miller J-" "Hi, I am Miller." MJ cut Erika in between and introduced himself to the wolves on the table. He had a mischievous glint in his eyes which didn't go unnoticed by Erika. "Hello, Gamma Miller-" "Call me MJ." MJ cut Isaiah and extended his hand for a handshake. Isaiah hesitated at first but accepted his hand and shook it lightly. "Hi MJ, I am Sameen." Sameen said and MJ nodded at her. He could already tell that Sameen was one of those who liked to keep it to themselves. There was this certain tension that buzzed in the air. An awkward silence hung in the air as they ate but it surprised everybody on the table when Sameen opened her mouth to speak next. "What does the J in MJ stands for?" Sameen asked curiously. Erika noticed MJ growing stiff like a stick. She started chuckling which claimed everybody's attention on the table to her. "MJ stands for Miller J-" "Erika!" Miller growled which made her laugh harder. She knew how much MJ hated the 'Junior' in his name and he preferred to be called as MJ instead. Very few people on the earth knew what MJ stood for and right then Erika was on the verge of revealingly the biggest secret on the earth! "It stands for Miller Junior." Finally, she spoke and burst out laughing while MJ threw murderous glares at her. Seeing them act like that Isaiah started laughing and Sameen smirked lightly. With that, the tension diffused and they started having a normal conversation except for the times when Erika and MJ started throwing insults at each other and the two wolves watched them in amusement. Isaiah was chirpy and participated more in the speaking department while Sameen continued to listen passively. It was going well when suddenly they were blessed with another she-wolf's presence. Suddenly, Erika sensed MJ going stiff again. Slowly, as he turned his head to take a look at the new she-wolf, shock decorated his face. He looked as if he saw a ghost in the daylight. "Hi, Sameen. Hi Isaiah!" She chirped cheerfully and Erika examined her from top to bottom. She had short strawberry blond hair, brown eyes, and light skin. She had an average height and soft curves. Most of her outfit was black which complemented her hair and skin. It was after a second or two when she noticed the presence of two powerful wolves on the table and instantly her eyes shot to MJ. For a small fraction of second, her eyes widened in shock and surprise but soon her expression turned grim. She threw MJ a dirty look and took a seat beside Sameen. "Hi, Ella! We have new friends!" Isaiah greeted which bought the blonde's attention to Erika after her eyes swiped the table stopping momentarily on MJ. "Hi, I am Erika." The female Beta said with a smile which was returned by the Blonde. "Hi Erika, I am Ella." Ella said with a smile on her face. She seemed sweet. "And this is Miller Junior." Erika said gesturing to the Gamma sitting beside her. "Hi." MJ said but the blonde lightly nodded at him and averted her attention towards Isaiah and Sameen. "What are you doing in our department anyway?" Isaiah asked. "What do you mean?" Erika asked. "I go to Walkers' School of Mass Communication. It's just a block away. I just came to see my friends." Ella explained to Erika. "What course are you doing?" MJ asked. Erika noticed that he hasn't averted his eyes once from the blonde she wolf. Something seemed odd about the way he looked at her plus it raised doubts inside Erika when she found him showing interest in the blonde. "Bachelor's." The Blonde answered his question without even looking at MJ. She seemed to be trying hard to avoid him. Before Erika could read more into their actions, her phone ranged up. She took it out to find Miles' Caller ID flashing across the screen. She excused herself from the table and went out of the canteen to receive the call. As soon as she was out, she picked up the call. "Hey, Erika. What are you doing?" The Alpha asked. "I am in College. Why?" "Oh, are you in the middle of a class? Did I interrupt you?" "No. It's lunch." "Good. I want you to go to the airport to pick my guest." "Oh okay." With that, she was about to disconnect the line when curiosity got the best of her and she found herself asking "Who is it anyway?" "Alpha Andrew."
