Chapter Three- Karma is a b***h

1787 Words
Kara did her best to collect herself as she fumbled in the elevator with the cleaning supplies. Her dainty frame and impressive bust made it difficult to hold such items with poise. The broom would keep the doors open, the chord to the vacuum would get wrapped around the other items and even her, as she felt as though the hygienic machines of the world were out to kill her, a hand assisted her. She could recall that hand tracing up and down her body, feeling her arousal between her legs, and pulling onto her to ride upon his erection-the memory of his touch burned upon her body and ached into her soul.  With light having fallen upon him and the shock now faded, Kara managed to get a proper look of the man whom she couldn't get out of her mind for the last week. Now he stood before her, glistening from the shower, and aiding her in distress.  "Hey, you alright? You ran away pretty quick back there…" "Me?" She scoffed. "Why wouldn't I be?"  "I know my effect on women and having them run away usually isn't what happens." She began to grow irritated with the fact she was forced into a confined space with someone so arrogant. But his charming smile and muscular body showing a few tattoos was enough for her to remain pleasant to him. At least for now.  "Oh s**t…we dated didn't we?"  "No." She spoke coyly, looking to the elevator doors before her, begging for them to open. However, they remained closed as they had only made it down one floor.  "We hooked up?"  She turned to him hand on her hip. Her usual desire to be silent had been replaced with the frustration she felt in this moment. The version of him she was introduced to that night had been mysterious, but kind. There hadn't been any hint as to how he had actually been, but then again, they seemed more interested of the pleasure they could get out of each other than actual conversation. Perhaps if only two minutes had been spent doing that, then maybe she would have realized he was a player.  "The alleyway…" he spoke upon snapping his fingers, feeling victorious for remembering. "Of course! I'm so sorry…" he nervously set his fingers through his hair as Kara found her gaze to follow his touch. She recalled the scent of pine and linen that omitted from him, even masking the aroma of cigarettes. She remembered the way his locks felt beneath her fingers as he rammed her against the wall with powerful thrusts. The memory made her begin to dampen.  "Yeah...you are from Texas…" she couldn't believe he was so blase in having had his occupation revealed. He acted as if it didn't mean anything more than her learning his middle name, just as the doors came open. She began to finally feel the claustrophobia lift from her body as she moved from the elevator and back behind her reception desk.  "Laundry needs you…" the woman who interviewed her spoke as Kara gave the man a look of "sorry" laced with irony before heading towards the stairs. She didn't want to offer him the chance to corner her in the elevator and fall for his charm...not again.  "You aren't pissed are you?" His voice echoed in the stairwell as she did her best to ignore him while walking the seemingly endless stairs to the laundry room. Luckily for her, the sound of the machines had blocked out his attempts to gain her attention as Kara focused upon the basket held beneath the chute. Seeing it overflowing and a red light having sensed it, she moved it out of the way before beginning to fill the wall of washers.  "Just don't take it personally." He finally managed to speak through the noises as she stalled long enough for him to understand how offended she had been. "I had some emotional s**t hit me that night and was wanting to let off steam...I wasn't aware you were looking for something more…" he finally fired back, tired of playing what he saw to be "mister nice guy." She turned, standing in the center of the floor while being thrown off by his words. "What makes you think I would? I am perfectly capable of existing fine without a man defining me. More than that, I would not want someone of your reputation…" as her final words had been spoken and she felt as though she won this part of the argument, a section of towels fell down directly onto her, forcing her to have metaphorical mud on her face. She hoped the clothes would make her disappear into how small she felt, but as they began to become pulled from her body, she realized he had remained present.  "Of course I remember you, although I'm sorry I never got your name…" he spoke as if flipping from f-boy to boy next door. The thought was ease to her embarrassment.  "Its Kara." She informed as he smiled, taking the last part of laundry from her body and setting it into the laundry basket. She responded with a smile of thanks before trying to fix her hair, sure it was messed up from the "glory" of gravity mixed with dirty linens.  "Colby. Again, I'm sorry…" his eyes showed true compassion although a lustful smirk confused her understanding of his true intentions.  His lips moved to her ear to speak something in secrecy as she could feel her skin begin to chill from his close proximity. Before he had a chance to speak, he managed to make her eyes close and her body alight from within. She took in his scent in full, gaining hints of cinnamon from whatever oral cleanser he used before finally making her nearly soak her panties in arousal.  "How could I forget a girl who was as tight as you? So easily wet...so willing…" she bit her lip in remembering what he spoke of before the sound of someone clearing their voice had interrupted them.  "You really can't let any girl past your clutches can you colby?" The woman asked as Kara feared she was in trouble as this was the woman who interviewed her.  "We all can't have sticks up our asses like you, Val." Valerie gave a sarcastic grin before motioning for her newest employee. "You are needed in reception…" she spoke to her as Valerie led the way back up through the elevator. However, as she had been focused on her phone, Kara was watched by Colby as he looked to her with his devilish grin. The same sinister smirk that made her feel as if she was dirty dancing with trouble...and how it thrilled her.  Upon making her way back behind the reception desk, she was shown how to work the calendar program and finally leaving her be. But with the time she had alone, she couldn't help but think of Colby. The way he could make the hair on the back of her neck stand up with the mere thought of him had made her hypnotized by him. It hadn't helped that moments throughout the day, he would make it a point to stop by the desk and loiter, seemingly just to tease her. He would even openly flirt with other woman standing in front of her, making her annoyed and noticeably angry. She tried to hide it between clenched teeth, but that in itself had been a telltale sign.  When the end of her shift finally came, Kara rushed out of the building before she would be forced to face him again. But while walking to the taxi called before hand so she could actually leave on time, she couldn't help but think of him.  His icy blue eyes hung beneath dirty blonde hair that hung just before his eyes and styled perfectly modern. His tan skin with tattoos upon his chest and back were enough to make her bite her lip in anticipation.  "Miss?!" A voice called to Kara as she looked down and noticed the driver having acknowledge her daydream. She slid inside the back of the cab, just as Colby emerged-seemingly looking for her.  As Kara made her way home, she found a nice distraction in the virtual pages of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. The words spoken of Jamie and Claire were enough to give her attention to something other than Colby.  She paid the driver with a twenty in her back pocket and moved to the apartment number she had now memorized. While outside, she was able to smell dinner in the air as she placed her key inside and was welcomed by Kaitlyn's embrace.  "Tell me everything!" Kaitlyn spoke while holding a glass of red wine between her French topped fingers and waiting anxiously for the details.  "Where to start...oh..the place you sent me is a s*x club or escort service-" "What? No...it was supposed to be this upscale restaurant…" "And what's more? Mr. Alley was there." "No!" As Kara removed her sweater and filled her friend in on the details of the day, Dean was within the kitchen with dinner. He did his best to appear distance but listened close to each word.  A knock came to the door as Kaitlyn jumped up with enthusiasm. "Expecting someone?" Kara asked with a smirk while stealing a drink of her friend's wine, feeling as though she truly deserved it.  "It is usually flowers from who ever she is with at the time…" Dean informed Kara as she nodded with an amused smile.  Kara hadn't managed to finish her drink before hearing her name spoken in the doorway. Her heart stopped as she wondered who it could have been. Perhaps it was her ex that somehow found her, but alas… it was Colby.  He appeared somehow more alluring to her standing in the doorway. Maybe this had been due to the fact that she had the control to allow him to enter or turn him away.  "Kara?" As her name was spoken, she had already managed to be beside her friend while breathing in Colby. She wondered what he had been doing at her apartment or how he even knew where said apartment was, but she had felt as though this was a chance to be with him. Even if she wasn't sure if that was what she wanted-but she couldn't deny the excitement that sky rocketed when she saw him. And with that, she invited him inside.
