Part 2

Xander smiled as he looked over the giggling pup in front of him. He could smell the warm fresh cookies and the vibrations of the oven. He couldn't explain why he was so sensitive from the past two days to the sounds and smell. He should visit their pack doctor but he had important things to attend. The Alpha was going to bring Aria with him to the pack house. The house was buzzing with his wolves because they wanted to meet Aria. The Alpha never told them much about his past only that the reason he was able to succeed in his life was Elvis Jenkins. Without him he would still be in the dark forest, starving and hunting small animals for food. "Alpha?" A tiny fist nudged at his wrist to which he looked down and noticed Kiya, the four-year-old Alpha. She was Xander's beta's adopted pup. "Hmm?" He asked scooting on her level. Her eyes sparkled at his gesture. "Is she a good omega or like Taylor?" Xander winced at the mention of his ex-fling. He regretted sleeping with her because she thought that it was more than that. "Aria is a good person, like that princess you watch on TV" "Elsa?" She provided to which he nodded his head and then ruffled her hair. The Alpha pup whined at that and ran away with the other kids. Xander had to find his beta, Keith. Why would he tell the entire pack about Aria? She would be obviously nervous and meeting everyone would definitely overwhelm her. He could feel his palms sweating at that. He was going to be her guardian but he did not know a thing about her. Hell, he did but even meet her after that day. It had been ten long years. So much can change in those years. And it wasn't his fault alright. He wanted to keep in touch with her but her father for some reason I was not enthusiastic about letting him in the packhouse again. He resented Elvis a bit for this very reason. As soon as the Alpha walked out of the door he noticed his beta laughing with his mate. He politely greeted both of them and could feel the eyes of nearby wolves on him. It was difficult for him to form a pack who shared common ideas. It started with only him and Keith since they both were roommates in the college. Later as he rescued three omegas and two betas from hunters in the forest the word spread about it and more and more wolves started joining his pack. Soon they were a family of forty wolves. He was hyper-aware of the fact that it was increasing. Most of them had their own day jobs but half of them worked in his company. "What happened? Do you want me to come along?" His beta asked with a grin on his face. Xander shook his head. "Why would you tell everyone about Aria? I don't think she would appreciate everyone crowding her on the very first day." Keith's face fell at that. He slowly nodded his head, "I am sorry. I just thought that it would make her feel welcome as she is going to be the new member of our pack" The Alpha let out a sigh at that. He was not sure how to tell everyone that she was going to be here only for two years and later move on with her mate. So there was no point in hoping she would be a pack member. "Look," He took a deep breath staring at his beta, "I really appreciate this gesture but I am sure that Aria I would like some space after going through such a tragedy. Maybe I will host dinner soon and introduce her to everyone." The betas face brightened at that and he nodded his head excitedly like a puppy, "Yes that will do. Don't worry we all will clear out before you guys get back" "Thank you. I will be back soon." Xander nodded his head and immediately walked towards the garage. He could feel his beta's stare behind him. They are packhouse was huge considering it was on the other side of the river. In Seattle, there were only three powerful packs and Xander was proud to be one of them. He made his own chamber which was a floor away from the rest of the wolves. And everything inside the house was soundproof. Getting into his Porsche the Alpha looked at the excited faces of the pups as they waved him and drove away. It was going to be a long drive. *** As soon as he reached the building, the Alpha wrinkled his nose distasteful looking at the office of the attorney. His first guess was correct about him being a rich guy. As soon as the Alpha entered inside the building he felt his heart pounding. It was as if someone was ringing the bell loudly. His palms were sweating profusely. Xander could feel his ears buzzing with the different sounds as he took each step. Xander was greeted at the receptionist and he quickly signed his name and walked in the elevator. He then found the office at the corner which looked aloof and better than the rest of the door he had seen on the way. His heartbeat rose even more than before as he pushed open the door. A low whistle slipped past his lips as he noticed the posh office. "Ahh, Mr Donati! Just the person I was waiting for" The attorney stood up while gesturing towards the chair. Xander looked at the person in front of him and was convinced that he should be a psychic because he guessed everything right about the attorney. He gave a fake smile to him and slid down on the chair in front of him. "Where is Aria?" He asked him looking around the office but he found no one. "First you have to complete some paperwork here. It will take just a minute. Ms Aria is sitting in the other room" The Alpha huffed and nodded his head impatience crawling his skin. He accepted the pen from the attorney and quickly sign the papers without even bothering to glance at them. "Are you sure you don't want to go over the terms?" The lawyer asked while setting the papers. "I am sure Mr Truck is it?-" "Chuck" The lawyer gritted his teeth which Xander ignored only nodding his head. "Just send a copy of the documents to my lawyer and that's fine" "Okay will do," Chuck said a tight-lipped smile and then he dialled the number. Xander could easily hear the phone call from both sides. It was for Aria. "She'll be here," Chuck said hanging up the phone. Xander hummed at that. The Alpha impatiently tapped his shoes against the floor. He had no idea what you was going to say to her. What if she did not want to live with him? Or what if she hates him? All the sort of questions we're going around his head and he couldn't focus on anything. Just then the strong scent of strawberries hit him. His eyes shut tight at the smell. The Alpha in him growled indicating that it was his mate and Xander sharply turned to look at the door only to see Aria. She was the only one standing on the other side of the door. No no-no. She cannot be his mate. He was her guardian. How was that even going to work? He clenched his hands into fists by the sides. The Alpha could not believe that some sixteen-year-old omega was going to be his mate. "Aria this is Xander Donati. He is your legal guardian." The lawyer's voice echoed in his ears but he could not form any words. Simply staring at the tiny figure in front of him. The Alpha cursed under his breath as he got a proper look at her. She looked sinful with her fully developed figure resembling an hourglass. Though she was dressed in a red sweater and black jeans he could see her curves through them. "He-Hey" He nervously smiled at her as she walked forward. Her scent was the only thing he could inhale and it was driving him crazy to stay away from her. "I don't know if you remember me but-" Before he could finish his sentence she was running towards him and she hugged him tightly. His eyes widened at that and he could hear her sobbing in his arms. She sniffled while her head lay perfectly on his heart. Xander was sure that she could hear his heart pounding as he had just run a marathon. The omega sniffed in his arms and his heart clenched at the pitiful sounds escaping her lips. At that moment he swore that he would always protect her no matter what. "Hey...It's alright...I'm taking you home" ***
