2. Mid Year Party

As we drove through the gate of the company the next morning, we were surprised to see many cars already in the parking lot. "Are we that late?" I questioned Lily confused as she navigated through the parking lot to find an empty space for the BMW. "God! Don't tell me you forgot about today, " she rolled her eyes. "Is something suppose to be -oh Holy Crap. What is the time?"my eyes widened. "It's seven fifty five. Why?" "I'm so going to get fired today. How could I forget today is the mid year company party? Last week Devon specifically told me to arrive by seven this morning and not the usual eight,"my heart was already thumping hard against my chest. "Oh crap indeed! You better hurry up," she practically shoved me into the elevator. When I finally reached the twenty first floor where my office was situated, my heart was racing so fast. Luck was however not on my side as I ran right into an angry boss pacing right in front of my door with one hand on his settled lightly on the apex of his waist. "Good morning Sir," I faked a small smile though deep down I was a bunch of unmistakable nerves. "Good morning? This is not a good morning for me and all because of you Lana," he spat. His angry gaze was settled on me. Afraid of the look on his face, I looked at the other side of the empty corridor, shifting lightly. "In my office now," he grinded his jaw as he strode into his office. I left out a puff of air I didn't realise I was holding before following him. The moment we closed the door he regarded me with a clearly offended expression. "I'm so sorry Sir. It slipped my mind and I promise to make up for that by staying over one hour in the evening," I started. "Can you stop talking? That voice is making me have a migraine," my lips flapped shut though deep down it felt like a knife had been jabbed right in the centre of my heart. "I'll let you go on this one but-"he was cut off by the ringing of his office phone. "What?" he gritted in aggravation once he placed the phone to his ear. He listened for a moment. "What are you talking about? My personal assistant compilied that herself and I can assure you she is the most keen person I know," Whoa! That was nice. He actually complimented me even though not directly and compliments from him were like a drop of cold water in a desert. He listened for some time while massaging his forehead every now and then. "Look, if you make me come there and it turns out to be your mistake then I'm sorry but I'll have to cut off our deal, " he gritted before cutting off the call. "Did you run through the contract before bringing it to me yesterday ?" he inquired. "Yes, I did, Sir," I answered confidently. "Then lets go," he picked his coat already proceeding to the door. His footsteps halted, his face turned towards me. Admittedly enough, something was off about him today. He was much crankier than usual which made me feel a little concerned. "Do I have to spell it out for you?" he spat. "I'm just wondering where we are going," I asserted as respectfully as my lips could allow. "Look, when I say something you don't question it. You are my PA not Father," I quickly scrambled after him, the echo of my stilettoes running through the suddenly quiet empty halls. Everybody in the company was afraid of his commanding presence. I mean, who wouldn't? He could fire someone at the slightest provocation. As the elevator began descending I couldn't help stealing a glance at him. His lips were set into a thin line, as his hands rested in the depth of his handmade expensive dark suit. Suddenly he turned, catching me red handed drooling over him. A deep hue of red tinged my cheeks as I blushed furiously in embarrassment. What he did next however caught me off guard. He jerked me towards his lean, yet fit body, his eyes lazily dropping down from my face to my lips. My heartbeat began racing as I struggled to maintain a calm gaze but failed miserably. His fingers trailed my face, my eyes fluttering shut without an effort as his torturous touch hovered dangerously on my lower lip. His face moved closer to mine and I could feel his hot breath blowing into my face, melting every other thought I had in mind. "If you badly want my attention you should at least save little of whatever respect you have, you know," he whispered, drawing back, an arrogant smirk building in his face as the elevator binged to a stop. What the hell? With cheeks flushed I scanned my dressing for certainty. The navy blue tailored skirt suit was well just above my knees, and my long white sleeved shirt had...the top button open, revealing just a sizeable amount of cleavage. Holy crap! Could my day get any worse? Well, I bet it could especially with the fact that the button wasn't just popped open, it was flat right missing.
