For centuries, my father, The Creator of heaven, prohibited my brothers and me from having soul mates. But all his lies are revealed, and I learn that the Creator of the universe is also the ultimate deceiver.

Having a beautiful female who falls into my arms one day as I'm trying to prevent the end of the world was not in my plans.

Everly is temptation incarnate. Her body, face, smile, and challenging attitude draw me like a moth to a flame.

But I have to resist because it's not meant to be. I'm the archangel, Rafael. How hard can that be?

For years, I wished to bury the darker side of me. But I can't help but wish for more. I want the creature that haunts my dreams. Rafael is enigmatic, gorgeous, and infuriating. Oh, and let's not forget he's an angel, which means he's had centuries to practice that sexy smolder that makes me want to jump him.

There's so much tension between us. So much keeping us apart. So, why can't I stay away? Why are we so drawn to each other when he's supposed to have a mate?

Chapter 1: Wishes
Everly I pack the last of my things in my small bag before turning to my friends and saying, “Alright, I’m ready to go.” “I can’t believe you have to go. Isn’t the information Dr. Cranston needs here?” Val states glumly. Samira and I roll our eyes, “We’ll just be gone for a couple of weeks, Val.” Val crosses her arms and gives me a sullen pout, “But they’re not sending you to the same place. You’re going to Egypt,” She points toward Samira, “and she’s going to Spain,” she mutters accusingly. Sami chuckles while I mimic Val’s defensive stance, “Cut the s**t, Val. You know that our research is important for graduation. We’ll be back before you know it. Besides, you have your gorgeous angelic boyfriend to keep you busy until then. You’ll be fine without us.” “Fine, but call me if you need me,” Val states petulantly. I roll my eyes at my friends. I love them dearly, but sometimes they can be such mother hens. I can’t blame them, considering we’ve only ever had each other. I met Val and Sami when we were fourteen. It was not a great beginning considering we were orphans and living in the streets, but we always stuck together and protected each other. When we aged out of our foster home, we all decided to leave our old lives behind and move to a new place. We applied everywhere and received acceptance letters, including a full ride to Arizona, which we accepted. Though we’re different in looks, we’re sisters of the heart, which will never change. I have long red hair, green eyes, and a willowy frame. Valentina has dark ebony hair, hazel eyes, and a curvy body, and Samira has light brown hair and a boyish figure. I’m considered the brassy one in our group because I take chances, while Val is the one who is suspicious of everyone, and Sami is spontaneous. Val is studying Russian, Japanese, and Gaelic, citing that she wants to interpret old languages. I’m studying to be an archeologist, and Samira studies ancient civilizations. Weirdly enough, we all speak several languages. It’s pretty cool in an odd way. Due to our shitty pasts, we all agreed that we needed to learn self-defense, so we learned various fighting techniques. We’re pretty good with weapons and picked up some mad fighting skills over the years. Though we’re as close as sisters, there’s one secret that I’ve kept close to my heart. It has only happened a handful of times, but I learned years ago that I can kill things if I touch them. Before I met Val and Sami, I mistakenly killed my neighbor’s vicious pitbull, who attacked me one day while playing outside. I also mistakenly killed two men who tried to attack me at the beach. I was sitting at the beach, watching the surf and contemplating college, when two guys tried to drag me under the pier. They were tearing at my clothes when I gripped them both by the wrist and let my fear overtake me. Seconds later, I found their bodies lying on the ground and a small group of dead fish floating around them. After that, I tested my abilities with bugs to ensure it wasn’t a coincidence, but I quickly learned it wasn’t. After that, I realized I had a terrible ability I could never reveal to anyone. I know I’m terrible for running away from the dead bodies, but there was nothing I could do. I can’t just tell the police I wished those men dead. But I’ve been mindful and can control my terrible power since. My guilt was appeased somewhat when the news reported that the two men had been in and out of jail for rape and murder. Snapping out of my morbid thoughts, I push my crimson locks from my eyes and tuck my cell phone in my pocket, “Alright, mom, I’ll call and text every day.” Michael, Val’s boyfriend, walks in and snickers with amusement at our banter as we embrace goodbye. I was impressed when Val arrived in Israel with a gorgeous French man. However, I was even more amazed when she revealed he was an archangel. At first, I was skeptical, thinking they were mocking me for my love of supernatural books. But as soon as Michael revealed his wings, I was a believer. My friends groaned when I clapped my hands and stated, “Ha! I was right! I knew supernaturals were real!” Though knowing supernatural beings existed was new to my friends, I had no problem believing it. It helps that Michael is super nice and deeply in love with Val. It also affirmed my idea that soulmates are real. They are so cute together. “Are you ready to go, ladies,” Sami and I nod and gather our bags. Michael was nice enough to offer us a ride to the airport. “I’ll miss you guys,” Val mumbles childishly. Sami pats her back, and I push her slightly, “Come on, girl. No more of that. You know you’ll be too busy having hot, naked s*x with your man to miss us.” Val glares, making everyone laugh. But Michael’s snicker says it all. Those two are so disgustingly in love, and I'd be jealous if I didn’t love Everly so much. It makes me wonder if a soul mate is waiting for me.
