2 Perfect Match

1250 Words
A week had passed since Cosette had moved back into that 30 square meter house before Cosette received a call from her director. “Beauty” was about to officially start shooting and Cosette, as the main characters stand-in actress, needed to always be on call and with the crew for the duration of the filming. Cosette got herself ready for the day in a hurry and rushed over to set. Once she arrived, she was quickly hurried into a dressing room. “Hurry up and get changed! Leyla is unable to do this next scene, so we need you to cover!” The crew member ushered her in. Cosette’s eyes widened a bit but she nodded quickly in agreement. Leyla Bronson, the star of this film, was one of the most popular actresses across the country at the time! She came from a famous family line, like her parents before her, and was given many great advantages in the industry due to this. More so, she was engaged to none other than Edward Coton. Leyla finished filming the ongoing scene and walked off set. “Good work Leyla, let's keep our eyes in place during the close up though.” Elliot Stadnik called out, swiveling on his chair. Elliot was a renowned director who was directing this film along with many others this year. He walked over to Leyla, who was carelessly smoothing out her white dress and pushing small pieces away from her sharp jawline. She gave Elliot a look and he sighed, “Very well, you are tired let’s take a break.” He looked around looking for Cosette for a moment before her soft voice rang out from behind him. “Good morning Elliot, how are you doing?” Cosette smiled softly, her outfit and makeup identical to Leyla’s. Elliot beamed at her and Leyla’s eyes flashed with annoyance. “Oh, there you are, you look amazing Cosette. Let us get you over to the assistant director to get us through this next scene. I must warn you; this is an important one!” Elliot started walking toward the cast beckoning Cosette to follow him but Leyla stopped her. “Just a moment, Cosette!” Leyla stepped forward to catch up as Cosette stopped and turned back. Cosette stopped, and Leyla had already reached her. “As you probably know, I had a surgery recently and the doctor told me to take it easy or I would definitely be doing my part in person!” Cosette smirked softly, knowing exactly what Leyla was up to but not being in the mood to play along. “Leyla, you are thinking too much! I am just here to do my job; I do not need any explanation.” Cosette smiled gracefully. “You are too sweet!” Leyla replied, “I know you are an amateur at acting though, so know you can ask me any questions if you need some help!” “You are very kind! I will do that.” Cosette nodded, refusing to take the bait of the condescending remarks. Leyla stepped closer and lowered her voice as she played with the stray piece of hair near Cosette’s ear. “And just so you know, if you ever contact Edward again, I will personally make sure that little brother of yours has a very difficult recovery.” Leyla smiled sweetly over her vicious words. But Cosette just laughed. “Oh dear, that will not be a problem. All yours! No money in the world could get me to go back.” Leyla was obviously startled at this response, and for a moment her mask cracked. “Wha-at?” Cosette just smiled and turned heading toward the directors across the set when Leyla called out again, stopped Cosette in her tracks. “Edward!” Cosette half turned and through her hair could see Edward walking over to Leyla, hands in his pockets. His eyes lifted to meet Cosette’s and she lowered hers to the floor. “I thought you were filming today. I had come to check on you.” Edwards said softly to Leyla. Leyla’s eyes lit up with delight, a sweet smile beaming across her face. She reached out to grab his shirt and kissed him softly. Cosette, from a distance, could overhear the cast muttering among themselves as a few watched the couple. “Ah, there they go again! He definitely makes her happier than we ever see her. They seem to be the perfect match.” Cosette walked by trying to zone out the conversation as she pressed her lips together. She headed in the direction of the assistant director. “Gordon!” Cosette called him. “I wanted to talk about the next scene for a moment if you do not mind.” Across the set, Edward could not stop his eyes from taking peaks at Cosette who was talking to Gordon on the other side of the room. He saw her faint smile hanging on her lips throughout the conversation. As he watched her chat his eyes gradually became angrier. Leyla looked up and followed his eyes to Cosette who had been moving over back toward Elliot as they got ready to begin shooting. Her face flushed with dismay for a moment but she quickly covered it up with a smile. “Oh! I see my stand in actress has caught your eye! She looks great in my outfit. Want to go watch this scene? Apparently, this is a big one!” Without waiting for a response, she pulled Edward over with her until they reached Cosette. “Good Morning Cosette.” Leyla smiled, clasping Edwards hand to her chest. “This is my Fiancé Edward! Have you two met? I assume you have heard of him?” Cosette turned to look at them, nodding at Edward faintly. “Of course, I have definitely heard of him. Hard not to in New York.” Cosette smiled kindly, but Edward stiffened at her words. He turned back to his fiancé, “Did you not say you were tired? Let us go sit down.” Leyla nodded and smirked at Cosette before the two headed away from the set once more. Gordon rushed over, breaking up Cosette’s train of thought. “You ready? You got everything we just went over?” “Yes! I am good to go.” “Great! I know you can do this Cosette, I believe in you.” Gordon patted her on the shoulder. “Thank you!” Cosette smiled. Elliot walked over, noticing Edwards presence on set. “Ah, Mr. Coton! How are you doing today? Leyla has a break here if you two wanted to get away for a bit!” Edwards face darkened for a moment and for a split second his eyes met Cosette’s once more before slipping away. “There is no need for that.” “Ah, okay.” Elliot shrugged turning back to the crew. His face showed some confusion, but he shrugged it off calling the scene to a start. Cosette headed over to the middle of the set, her small figure flowing across gently in the dress. Leyla looked up at Edward to catch his eyes following Cosette once more and was surprised to see the tenderness glistening through. Leyla turned away, clenching her teeth, jealousy racing through her.
