Chapter 4: Play, Play, Play!

1612 Words
The Daytona racing arcade game happened to be empty in the game center. All ten chairs were empty. I sat in the first chair and swiped the card.   The screen showed the choices to choose the car type and avatar type. I decided without thinking back. Before the game started, as usual, the screen waited for the presence of other players. Some people came and filled the empty Daytona arcade. Well, I couldn't play alone with the Non-Player Character. It's fine.   "Eh, I never play this game before. Can you teach me how to play, huh?" asked a girl in a spoiled tone. At a glance, the girl was dressed in a tight tank top that emphasized her beautiful curves.   "Ah, this game is easy. You can choose to control it automatically. For me, it's more fun to control it manually," said a guy whose voice was very familiar to me that day.   Oh, not again!   That boy again! What was his name again? Drew drew .... eh, Andrew. Oh, my gosh! What kind of curse did I have that day, so I had to meet this annoying boy again and again by coincidence? Come on! Give me a break!   The game screen showed the cars speeding up to the race at the starting line.   The game sound was heard.   Ready 3, 2, 1...   Yep, I immediately stepped on the gas and tucked the cars in front of me. The first lap passed quickly. In the second lap, I managed to become the first car. It looked like my victory would be very easy.   Wait, wait a minute!   The red car that was behind me kept tight, anyway! Eh, eh, uh, don't block people's paths! s**t! Damn! I must overtake that b****y red car!!   Final Lap!!   Damn it! The finish line would appear soon. Let's speed up!! Speed up! SPEED UP!!!   Three two one...   The arcade game announced the winner on the screen.   First winner!!   Hooray, I won!!   A male voice suddenly heard in an agitated tone.   "Tsk, How come? I lost! I never lost it before! I always am the first winner in this game! Now I'm only number two! Who was dare to beat me? Come on, admit it!! Raymond, is that you?" The tall guy exclaimed while looking around.   "No, I'm not. It's the girl next to me," Raymond answered, sitting next to me.   "Who?" asked the tall man looking at me, and immediately jolted so surprised.   "Huh, you again? What a coincidence! You are terrific as a gamer! Let's play again!" said Andrew, surprised.   I just snorted and hurriedly ran away from the Daytona arcade, trying to ignore him. The guy quickly followed me and left his friends.   "Where are you going, Drew? We are going to eat at the food court. Are you with us?" asked Raymond.   "I'll catch up with you later. Just give me a minute. It won't take long," said Andrew.   "Andrew, why aren't you coming? Just come with us! What kind of game do you want to play? Please come with us now," said a sweet girl with thick makeup. She was a friend of the tank top girl from before. Her face was pretty, and her clothes were seductive because she wore a thin transparent material that showed her cleavage.   "Sorry, go ahead without me. I'm still want to play in this game center. You'd better go around and find a good place to eat. If you find one, call me, okay? I will come right away," said Andrew impatiently.   "But Andrew. It's no fun without you. Join us, please," said the girl with the thick makeup sulking.   "Well, I'm sorry, okay? Just give me another minute to play. I'll catch up with you soon," said Andrew, getting impatient already.   I tried to move away from him and deliberately went around in the game center before finally heading to the shooting game.   "Do you want to play the Time Crisis shooting game with me? I'm pretty good at it!" blurted Andrew from behind my back.   Oh, My gosh! He was so annoying! He made me flinched! What was he doing over here, behind my back? Did he stalk me?   Suddenly, I lost my appetite to play the shooting game. What's on earth this guy was following me everywhere? I just ignored him and walked away to the boxing game.   "Do you want to play a boxing game? I'm pretty strong to punch the target. Do you wanna play with me on this game?" asked him enthusiastically.   Okay, this was it! I was sick of him already!   It was enough.   I hated the annoying boy so much!   I'm pissed off!   I turned back my body furiously. If I could throw away my eyes, I thought I would hit the boy's nose with my eyeballs. b****y jerk!   "What do you want, asshole???" I shouted very loudly.   "Wow, finally, you look at me. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you. I want to play with you. I'm just curious. You are the first arcade gamer that makes me loose in every game today," said the boy with a wide grin.   "Screw you! Taste it, loser!" said I angrily.   "Wow, hold on! Do you need to be that rude to me? What's wrong with you? Am I do something wrong with you? I'm just asking you to play with me," said him, annoyed.   "Yes, you did! You stepped on my foot so I couldn't run to the ticket cashier at the cinema to buy the Harry Potter ticket for theatre three! When I get there, it was sold out already! I already waited to buy it at 11 o'clock, and you ruined my plan. Just because of a stupid boy that stepped on my foot, I lost my chance. My foot was painful, and I couldn't run just in time. I wasted my time for nothing!" I said it furiously.   He listened to me in silence.   "And you were the same stupid boy who disturbed my game five times in a row. You were a loser. You were also the same stupid boy that sat next to me in the theater and said that I was rude. And then you came to play Daytona with me and failed to become the winner. Now, you are following me without my permission! If I don't get mad at you, then tell me what I should do to you? Should I entertain you? Or, should I do a somersault kick to you? You tell me!!!!" I barked. I was furious at him.   He was silent with a pale face. "Look, I'm sorry okay? I didn't step on your foot on purpose. At that time, there were too many people in the crowd. I didn't see you," he said apologetically.   "Well, thanks to you. My foot is still hurt now. If the word 'sorry' can cure the pain, so no need any pain killer medicine then," I growled.   "Please don't mad at me. I'm really sorry, okay? I didn't mean that. Let me take you home. What is your name?"   "Why should I tell you my name? I don't want to tell you," said me, still in an upset tone.   I walked away from the game center. Damn it! Suddenly my foot became very painful. I forced myself to walk, but it was getting hurt anyway. I couldn't walk any further. Maybe it was difficult for me to go home by myself. I tried to find the nearest place to sit and called my Mom.   "Mom, where are you?"   "I'm in the office, honey. Where else? Where are you, sweetie?" asked my Mom, indifferently. I thought she was busy working while picking up my phone. She had to be under pressure that day.   "At the mall. I just watched the cinema," I said.   "Oh? What kind of movie did you watch? Was it great?" asked Mom indifferently. I knew from the way she spoke to me.   "Well, that's great. Are you busy?" asked me, a little bit frustrated. In my heart, I wished Mom available to pick me up. But, I didn't think it possible at that moment…   "Yes, I'm busy now. Don't go home late, okay? I need to see my client now. See you at home, darling," said Mom in a rush.   Click. Mom hung up the phone.   I was staring at my cellphone with a disappointing expression. Oh, well! I had to go home by myself, then. I tried to stand up and walked a few steps, but my foot was painful. I couldn't move my foot because of the pain. I forced myself to take more steps.   Oh, dear! It was getting more painful at that time. I took off my sandals and massaged my foot slowly. Ugh! It was hurt…   Urgh! I bit my lips to endure the pain…   Suddenly I heard his voice again.   "Is that so painful? Please let me take you home," said the boy in guilty feeling. He was concern about my condition.   I just sat in silence. Without looking at the boy, I already knew who was talking to me at that moment. He was the one who brought me a series of unfortunate events of the day…   Click… tuuuuut…   He called someone.   "Hello, Raymond. It's me, Andrew. Look, I need to go home now. I'm sorry. I can't hang out with you guys. I have an emergency. I have to go. Okay! See you later," said Andrew. He hung up the phone and gave his hand to me.   "Please accept my apology. Please let me take you home," said the boy offering help while smiling apologetically. *** Hi, Glow Peridote here. Thanks for reading Michelle Ma Belle.
