Chapter 3

1007 Words
It was true that I'd lost seventeen years of my memories. I was seventeen when the crash had taken place, which now left me to wonder. Had my parents kept things from me? How was it possible that I'd known about this without ever once being here? Now more than ever, I wanted to regain those missing memories within me. Furthermore, I was desperate to know what was my connection with the black demon wolf. Why did I feel as though I knew him? It was like a part of my heart had tugged at the sight of the thing. Which was absurd, if there was anything that should have happened , it should have been reason to run far from that dreaded monster. But still as I stood in the safety of the cave, blinded by the darkness and trembling from the cold. I couldn't help but think about the silver grey eyed beast with sharp claws and teeth that promised to dig into the skin of its enemy with ease. My heart rate increased as my body yearned to see more of him. Despite not getting a closer look at him, his image was still plastered in my mind and crystal clear, clearer than the memories I had of my own parents. Somehow I knew that his silver eyes had specs of black and grew darker when his demon side took over. So dark, that when it looked at you, one would think they're staring back at a dark soul. How did I know this? It was a similar case like my memory of the cave. I somehow knew where to find this thing. My hands trembled as I took the stones in my hand and rubbed them together to form a fire with the wood I'd gathered earlier today. I couldn't stay here forever. As early as tomorrow morning I'll have to go on the run again, the supplies in this cave only lasted for one day. I could have sworn it would have had more than that, again I wasn't aware of how I knew that information. This was the last thing I expected to find in this mating hunt. I thought maybe I'll be eaten alive, or injured myself along the way. But never once did I think that I'd have memories thrown at me one after the next and never once did I think I'd have a connection with one of the beasts that was meant to kill me! I lowered myself onto the blankets, one of the main supply I was happy to find in the cave. Did any of the women ever make it to this cave? I knew the answer before I had time to blink. No— they were killed before they even got to here. Again, I didn't know how I knew this. My own mind was beginning to scare me. I felt like I'd watched this hunt over and over again, a certain guilt washed over my heart. A guilt I had no idea how to explain. I laid my head against the blanket and snuggled closer, needing it's warmth to fight against the cold of the night. My mind wandered back to the beast as I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of animals right outside the cave. Tomorrow would be another long day, I wasn't sure if I could survive. Luckily, even though it frightened me, I knew this place like the palm of my hand. With the knowledge that I had, I should at least know where to find all of the good supplies. As long as I had that, I could run back to the cave for protection. ................................................... I took a deep breath as I tried to climb the tree in front of me. If my memory was once more telling the truth, there should be some supplies hidden up there. The problem was that I didn't have the slightest clue on how to climb this thing. I could look around again but there wasn't any supplies except somewhere a good distance away. I couldn't take that risk, the closer I was to the cave, the better were my chances of reaching back before one of the beasts found me. Deep breaths Alina, you could do this. I may not have ever climbed a tree in my life before, but if this hunt had taught me anything so far. There was plenty in this life I wasn't aware of, so much more than the little bubble I often lived in. So maybe, just maybe I could do this without breaking my neck. Fifteen minutes later staring down at the ground below me and trembling against a shaking branch, I was already regretting my decision. What was I even thinking? I didn't have the slightest clue on how to climb a God damn tree! In fact, the furthest I'd ever been from the ground was when I used to climb onto the chair to hide from a mouse! But now look at me, hanging onto a branch with the bag of supplies wrapped around my neck as I tried to somehow regain balance. As I heard a sudden c***k my head snapped up, my eyes wide with horror. God, the thing was going to break any second now! An involuntary cry escaped my mouth as I fought to hold onto the branch. However, luck nor gravity was on my side. Before I knew it, I was falling to the ground with incredible speed. I closed my eyes and prayed for a miracle. I expected to feel excruciating pain, but instead I felt fur beneath me as my body landed onto what had to be a demon wolf. Oh God no! I could practically feel my heart pounding against my chest, threatening to break free. My eyes followed my hands gripping onto the jet black fur, I gasped as realization dawned on. This was the same beast. The one I couldn't get off my mind! Was he going to kill me?
