Book 1

Laura is different.

She knew this when she was six after realising she was adopted. Now she is seventeen, waiting to shift into her wolf and find her mate.

But before she could journey to find her wolf and her mate, she had to go to a ball in the Moon Royal Palace for the coronation of the new Alpha King. She is the adopted daughter of a Beta.

While there, she found her wolf voice but not her wolf form. Also, her mate, Nathan Crescent. The new Alpha King.

The night, however, turned into a nightmare when they learnt that lycans still existed. They called themselves Lycan Brothers. A prophecy from the moon goddess herself made them come out of hiding. They were searching for the marked one.

Prologue
Smoke grew and gathered into an enormous dark cloud, carrying up in the night. It grew larger and larger as the burning flames grew stronger and wild from the house. Also, the hiss echoed in the quiet night. “What have you done!?” A man asked in shock, worry laced his voice. His eyes widen, gazing at the burning house. Beside him stood a woman. She was wearing an oversized black heavy hoodie coat, unable to see her pale face, except for her peach lips. “What needed,” she softly said, no bit of sympathy as the man beside her. “What would I say to the elders and royals!” His voice picked up, and his breathing, “How will I explain this!” He pointed at the burning house, glaring at the woman. She stayed quiet, keeping her gaze at the burning house. She slowly turned on her heels, facing the man. Her coat opened, revealing a black-wrapped cloth. “Here,” she said, handing the wrapped material. He hesitated to take it, “what is this?” He glanced down at the cloth and then back up the woman. She was literally lifting her eyebrow and growled, “Here!” He sighed quietly, hesitantly taking the wrapped cloth. As he took it into his arms, wrapped in the fabric, it was something. A baby. He glanced up at the woman. He was a shock. Confused. Why was there a baby? “This is my Plan B,” she muttered, placing her hand on the head of the baby. Rubbing gentle circles, calming the baby from waking up. “What do you mean, this is your Plan B?” He growled. “... You promise that you would tell no one about her, even those you believe you trust,” she brushed the blanket off the baby’s face, caressing her rosy cheek before leaning in and kissing her forehead. “When the mark shows, you can tell her who she is.” *~*~* Loud Sirens echoed through the deep, dark woods. They followed the thick smoke trail until they saw a fiery red light. However, the two people who were at the scene had left. The man from the scene was close by, though. He still held the baby given to him, walking up the stairs until he reached the front door and knocked on it. There was silence for a moment. Lights turned on as the door opened, and there stood a man. He was in his late twenties and had ebony hair and dark eyes. He looked tired and was yawning when his eyes landed on his midnight friend. His eyes suddenly widen. “Alpha,” he gasped in shock, quickly bowing his head in respect. “What a pleasing surprise. Please come in,” he said, stepping aside and allowing his visitor to enter. “Jim, who’s at the—” a woman walked out into the hallway when her gaze landed on their guest. “Alpha,” she gasped, suddenly bowing her head in respect. She was in her late twenties, like her husband, her mate. She had long, curly, sandy blonde hair that reached her waist. “If you don’t mind me questioning, Alpha. Why are you here? Do you need my help?” Jim asked as his wife quietly walked towards him but stood behind him. “I have something to give. I trust you as my loyal Beta with this,” he said, stretching the wrapped-up baby towards the woman. She glanced at her husband, hesitant about what she could do. Jim, her husband, gave her an encouraging smile and a slight nod. She stepped forward, slowly reached out and wrapped her arms around the wrapped cloth. As she brought it close to her chest, they heard soft whimpering. Both husband and wife glanced over at each other. The pair realised the sounds were coming from something wrapped in the cloth. Jim’s wife gently removed the fabric from the baby’s face. The baby was awake, staring at them in awe and pouted lips. Their faces glowed in happiness and surprise. “Alpha!?” They both said in shock and joy, glancing up at their Alpha. “She has no one to look after her, and since you are my closest friend and Beta, I thought of you two because of... You know with your situation.” He said the last sentence in a low tone. He gave them a sad smile. “Oh, thank you, Jay!” Jim’s wife sang, rocking the baby back and forth. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Not because she was sad but because she was full of joy. Jim glanced up at his Alpha and gave him a warm smile, “thank you, Alpha.” He slightly bowed. In tears of joy and happiness, they heard an innocent voice. “Mommy?” A young child, standing at the top of the stairs. He looked down at the scenario in confusion, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He had his father’s dark eyes and his mother’s curly hair. “Why are you crying, mommy?” He asked, tilts his head. His mother gazed at her six-year-old son, “Oh Pete, you a big brother.” She laughed warmly, lifting his new sibling a bit for him to see; tears continued rolling down her cheek. “Come meet your baby sister.” *~* FIVE YEARS LATER *~* “Baby Laura has grown. How is she doing?” A woman happily asked Sam, who sat beside her at the kitchen island counter. Both women were having a mid-afternoon cup of coffee. Their mugs in hand as they chatted away, catching up about what was happening in their life. Enjoying each other’s company. “She’s amazing, always happy, and well-behaved,” she sighed in contentment. Her smile widened at the thought of her daughter, “I just love her to death.” She said, slightly tilting her head. There was a comfortable silence between the two friends as they sipped their coffee. Suddenly, their silence was interrupted by a loud screaming chant of children coming from outside. “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” Both women were confused but also worried about what was going on. They quickly jumped out of the kitchen stools, running out to the back door leading to the backyard. They spotted a crowd of children cheering, surrounding two children in the centre. The two in the centre of the mass were tackling each other on the ground. The women were shocked and concerned that those children would get hurt. They parted the sea of children, nudging their way to the front. “PETE!” Sam yelled in great disappointment, glaring down at her son, straddling himself on top of another boy. “Get off of Dan!” She gasped, seeing the boy lying on the ground with bruises on his little face. Pete glared, burning holes down at the boy below him. Before he stood up, he growled under his breath and clenched his tiny fists. His head was down as he stepped away from his victim. “Why were you hitting Alpha Jay’s son?” Sam scowled folded her arms across her chest, glaring down at her son. He mumbled, “Dan was making fun of Laura.” He said, letting out a sigh and closing his eyes, “he said that she’s just a rejected rogue pup who’s useless to the world.” “Daniel Jackson Hudson,” Sam’s friend, gasped in shock and disappointment. She glared and shook her head at her son as he stood up, hanging his head low. “Sorry, Mom,” he mumbled, fiddling with his tiny bruised fingers. “Don’t ‘sorry’ me!” She growled, “Say sorry, Mrs Cross and her daughter.” “Wait, where’s Laura?” Sam gasped, glancing at the crowd of children. “Where’s my baby!?” She yelled. “Here!” They glanced at Jay as he stepped out of the woods. Wrapped in his firm arms was a tiny girl who was fast asleep. “Alpha, thank you!” Sam cried in relief, running towards him. She gently pulled her baby girl from Jay’s arms into hers. She brushed loose greyish hair back into place before kissing her forehead warmly. “It’s okay. I’m just sorry about my son’s statement about your daughter,” he said, snapping a glare at his son, Dan. *~* THREE YEARS LATER *~* The night was as silent as the dead, and the moon was full and high. The full moon brought light into the dark woods. Revealing the creatures of the night as they roamed wild and free. But the night was in peace. However, in one house, screams and moans of pain echoed throughout. Sam and Jim burst into Laura’s room. There, they found Pete sitting by Laura’s bed, wrapping her in his arms, rocking her back and forth, trying to calm her down. “What’s going on?” Jim growled in confusion as Sam kneeled on the other side of Laura’s bed. “It hurts!” Laura cries out in pain, wrapping her arms around her stomach. “I want it to stop!” “Is she shifting?” Pete asked in a worried tone, glancing between his parents. “I think so, but it’s early for her,” Jim muttered, furrowing his eyebrows. Laura screamed and pushed Pete’s arms away. She jerked herself to sit upright, lifting her pyjama top. Crying her eyes out in pain. “Oh my goddess,” Sam whispered, quickly grabbing Laura’s hand. Everyone gazed down at the burning marking on Laura’s hip. It slowly became dark, and flower patterns appeared, putting themselves into place until they stopped. Forming a crescent moon...
