Chapter One
Abel The music blasting in the speakers feels sensational in a funny way. Whoever said music is a like a drug didn’t lie. I might feel a little too old to go to the dance floor, but I never pass a chance to enjoy the music. That is always the main reason I come to the club on the weekends because it helps me disconnect from reality for a couple of hours. I try not to drink too much that I get a hangover, but I try to have fun at the same time, and if I am in a good mood, I might just get a new friend for the night. My friends have warned me millions of times to stray from party girls, but the one thing they don’t get is that they are really good. Plus they never ask for commitment, and I don’t have to go through the stress of having to remember their names. I check the time on my wrist watch and it is a few minutes past eleven, and I know they are already asleep but I send a text just to confirm it. They can be stubborn at times and if I don’t intrude those two can be a little of a headache. After I have confirmed that they are sound asleep with photos to prove, I can finally concentrate on having fun. My few hours of fun if I have to say. My eyes linger around the dance floor just to see if there is anyone interesting there. This is the VIPs section and since this is Toby’s club, he is pretty selective on who should hang out with these sides, most especially when we are around. Perks of hanging out with a billionaire. Don’t get me wrong, I do have my own standards since I am not that far away from his financial status, but the difference between me and Tobias is that the paparazzi don’t usually run around me twenty-four seven trying to get pictures and ask random questions. I am a journalist myself and I think I can say, I know how to control that, plus he kind of grew up rich with that kind of lifestyle, I didn’t. Oh, and anytime we hangout he is the center of attraction and not me. If not him, his brother, but mostly him. Something catches my attention in the crowd, or rather someone. I can’t see her face clearly but I can already tell she is one hell of a sexy woman, and the way she is swaying those hips on the dance floor to the sound of the beat, it kind of looks like she is intentionally dancing sexy, and that’s very attractive. The sexy red dress and how it perfectly hugs her curves kind of makes me want to get up and go on that dance floor. “Not her,” Anthony says startling me and taking my attention from her, and I shrug my shoulders. “Why not?” I say, turning my attention back to her. I know they are both taken and don’t look at other women, but they have to admit, she is one hell of a sexy woman. “Because she looks like the type to trap you with a pregnancy, or steal your Rolex.” He says and I internally roll my eyes and give him the death glare. “That was a bad joke brother,” Toby tells him and he shrugs his shoulders. “Don’t worry, I learned my lesson,” I tell them and I can tell from their looks that they don’t believe a single word I just said. It has been four years already, they should get over that. And besides, I have been doing this for a while now and I have been very careful with the women I choose to hang out with. I kind of understand why they would have doubts, they did warn me that this s**t would land me into a mess one day, and it did. A beautiful mess I have to admit, but still some massive mess I have to say. The pops were on my ass when the news went public. I had a tough time trying to clear my name until I eventually just chose to ignore everything and focus on what was now my present. The mess. The scandal did affect my businesses for a while but after some time everyone was talking about someone else who just happens to be more famous than me, and one who would be a good focus for the media, Toby. He always manages to take the drama off us. He and his wife are really good at causing drama, beautiful drama. “Did you though?” Anthony asks and I feel like that was a direct attack. “Yea.” I don’t want to explain anything to him or show him a reaction. We are having a good time and he is a little too drunk. He kind of doesn’t have filters when he is drunk. I turn my attention to Toby and I can tell he has a look of concern. The way Anthony and I normally throw shades at each other, I’m still surprised that we have been friends for this long. “Are you okay man?” He asks and I crease my brows in confusion, I don’t understand why he would ask me that. “Yea, why?” “Because you had stopped all these, the sleeping with strangers after you know what, but now you’re back at it, should we be concerned?” He asks and I chuckle. He’s got to be kidding me. I squint my eyes at the both of them when I see them look at each other and then back at me. The thing is, they think I stopped, but I kind of just got back to it immediately, I have just been kind of secret and private about it, and given I moved a couple of hours away from town, they don’t necessarily get a full picture of what my life is like since we don’t hang out as much. At most, it’s always twice a month at The Flavor lounge, and during those times I tend to not show them the life I’m living. “Am I missing something?” I can see the judgment in their eyes, and I have to admit, this is the first time I have seen that look from them. This is kind of ironical since they have both done their own share of whoring around, so I don’t get why they think just because they’ve got wives, they are saints now. “Is everything okay at home?” Toby asks and I take a sip of my whiskey. This is getting weird real quick. “So, all this reaction is because I want to bed some sexy girl?” “We just don’t want you to end up in a similar situation as the one you were in years ago,” Anthony says and I chuckle. Maybe meeting them for drinks might have been a bad idea. They are no longer the fun friends that I used to have. That is the problem of having best friends who are married when I am still enjoying the single life; they think everything a single person does is immoral. “I’m totally fine,” I tell them and as much as I can see they want to push it, they don’t, and I’m glad. “I’m going to talk to her,” I add and gulp my drink. The worst thing that could come out of that situation is her telling me no, which I highly doubt will happen, and the best thing is that I will get laid. I am so in for that. “Just be careful,” Anthony says and I ignore him and walk to the dance floor. Just because I messed up once, it doesn’t mean I’m bound to repeat the same mistake twice. I had been in this game for years before the accident happened and I had been doing pretty well, carrying on from it didn’t seem to be a problem either, so they should chill, and maybe go home to their wives if they feel uncomfortable. I obviously won’t tell them that. The moment I get to the dance floor, I can no longer see her, and my heart falls. I don’t normally follow a girl to the dance floor, mostly I ask a waiter to deliver the message for me, but I wanted to get away from the guys, but now I’m disappointed that it was all for nothing. Going back doesn’t feel like an option anymore, so I decide to go to the washrooms, but just when I’m taking the left turn that leads to the hallway, I spot her sitting in the bar area. I can’t see her face because her back is to me but I can recognize the hair and the red dress. So I decide to join her. She’s ordered a cocktail and she seems to be lost in her phone. The bar attendant notices me and I nod at him. “I will have what she is having,” I tell him and he nods and she turns to look at me, and the moment I clearly see her face I am whipped by a cold wave. She does not only have a sexy body, but she is beautiful. It has been a while since I have actually seen a woman this beautiful, and I have met beautiful ones. “Hi,” I say. “This is kind of a girl’s drink.” She says with a smile so beautiful and I am just enchanted by that beautiful red lipstick on her puffy lips. There is just something about red lipstick that drives men crazy, and I am a man. “Says who?” I ask and she shrugs her shoulders and turns her attention back to her phone. That little move she makes feels like a blow to my ego, but I’m not going to let her play the hard-to-get game get on me. “I’m Abel.” I decide to say even though I know she might just ignore me. “Oh, I know you.” She says without even turning to look at me. “You do?” She ignores me. At this point, my ego is being smashed so hard, because this is actually the first time a woman has shown no interest in me and that just feels like a challenge now. I don’t know how this is going to go, but her attitude just gave me a reason to want to take her home with me. I always love a good challenge. The bar attendant serves me my drink and the moment I take a sip, I get what she meant when she said it was a girl’s drink. This s**t is just too sweet for my taste buds. “Give me a beer, please,” I tell the bar attendant as I push away the cocktail. “Told you it was a girl’s drink.” She says and I smirk. I guess this should be my go-ahead to start flirting. I can see that the drink in her glass is half empty. “Give her another,” I tell the bar attendant who nods again. “Is this your way of getting me to sleep with you?” She asks and I fake a smile at how direct she is. She seems to be a little too confident than the women I have been flirting with, which makes me even more interested. “Is it a wrong move?” I ask and she looks at me and then smiles. “No, I will have s*x with you.” She randomly says and I crease my brows in confusion. I didn’t see that coming, at the very least not that fast. “What?” I clear my throat nervously and drink my beer. “Your place or my place?” She asks and I know she wasn’t joking when she said it the first time. I hesitate for a moment because this kind of sounds like a trap. She’s is sexy and I definitely want to get laid by her tonight, but when she gets that direct it kind of scares me. The last time someone was this direct with having s*x with me, without mentioning my status, I ended up with two tiny little things months later. I don’t think I want to get into that trap again. “We will use protection, relax, I’m not trying to be a mother.” She says reading my mind and I let out a nervous chuckle. She is intimidating but in a sexy way. “My place,” I say and she chuckles and shakes her head. “When I said my place or your place, I was hoping you would say mine.” She says and I let out a light chuckle. “I don’t go to girls’ places.” That doesn’t normally end well, especially when it’s a one-night stand. “But, isn’t your place like not around?” She asks and I realize that she knows a lot more about me than I thought she did. “How did you know about that?” “Abel, you’re famous and rich, every girl knows details about you, besides, aren’t you like friends with Tobias?” I nod. “I don’t know what that has to do with anything.” “There are hundreds of fan accounts for you guys, everywhere on social media; your lives aren’t as private as you think.” She says and I nod agreeing, she does have a point. “Fair enough, so my place it is.” She shakes her head again and I feel a little frustrated by her little theatrics. “I’m not going to stay in a car for hours just to get laid by some rich guy.” She says and I laugh. I like her attitude. “What if it only took us twenty minutes or less to get there?” I ask and she fully turns so that she is fully facing me and my stupid mind goes to her cleavage and I swallow hard. “I say let’s do it,” I smirk. ##########
