When Bedtime Stories Are Real

I'm still trying to make sense of what I'm seeing in front of me. My grandfather is a wolf... I now have so many more questions and I really need answers. As if he could see I was in deep thought, he spoke to me.

"What's your first question? I know you have alot."

"Why didn't you ever tell you were a wolf?"

"I had to keep it hidden until you were old enough to shift. No one knows not even your mother."

"Drea is not my mother! I have no mother!"

"Lex..."

"I don't want to talk about it,Papa. Before we start training please answer this question... How are we here? I mean how are we wolves?"

"Do you remember the stories I would always tell you?"

"Are you really about to tell me more bedtime stories,Papa?"

"Those "bedtime stories" are true. And it's time I tell you again."

He's holding 2 big blankets in his teeth and covers me with one while doing the same for himself. 

"But first we need to shift back into our human forms."

He says as he changes back with complete ease. Does he not realize that I don't have a clue how to change back yet?

"Close you eyes, relax your mind and, you will be able to. It's not really that hard kid."

"Easy for you to say old man." I think to myself.

"I heard that. Just because I'm in my human form doesn't mean I can't hear your thoughts."

"Jesus.."

"Lex, do not finish that sentence! I'm raising you better than that."

I concentrate and shift back to my human form holding onto the blanket as I grab new clothes to wear. I walk to the bathroom and quickly change. I have to admit he was right, it wasn't hard at all. But I'm so not going to tell him that. When I walk back out he was already clothed and has a fire started.

"That's right Papa. YOUR the one who is raising me."

"Lex please..."

"We can talk about that later. But now I believe we have some more important things to talk about. Bedtime stories?" 

"Where should I start?"

"How about the very beginning?" I say as I sit down.

With that encouragement he smiles and sits down as well.

"Okay. It all started with a wolf..."
