Book 2

Sequel to The Rise of the Lycans.

Time has changed for Laura, Queen of werewolves and a lycan. She is happy with her life with her mate, Alpha King Nathan and overly adventurous five-year-old son Hades. Also, she is over the moon about her pregnancy with twins. But her carefree life is not that exciting as she is trying to prove that her old Alpha, Jay, is innocent of the murder of his mate. However, there was no sign of him. She also misses her birth mother, the moon goddess, whom she has not seen for five years.

But more trouble comes knocking when the Vampire King's trusted warrior comes to the palace asking for help finding missing council members and the Vampire King. Nathan is hesitant and does not want to help, but Laura begs him to help the vampires, only to bring more trouble to the Crescent Wolf pack.

Prologue
Groans of pain and exhaustion echoed in the darkness... Buzzing of electricity and clicks echoed into his ear... Where am I? He wondered in his head. He remembered taking his people into hiding for their protection after what happened to them. They were weak trying to recover, but they were betrayed and attacked at their most vulnerable, and many lives were taken. He remembered his council, elders, and himself gathering to talk about their next move when the hell broke loose and things went dark. Clicking of heels hitting marble echoed into his ear, heading towards him, and he heard familiar chuckling. He forced his eyes open but was blinded by a sharp, bright light overhead him, and he groaned in pain and disgust when the scent of blood hit his nostrils. "Oh, look at you, poor baby..." She cooed, punching his bruised chin, and lifted his head. His midnight black hair curtained his face, and his blood-red eyes glared at her as a smirk rose from her rosy lips. He tried to pull the chains that tied his hands above his head, and she did not cringe a bit, but she chuckled. "Sweetheart, you're too weak. I've drained you of all your blood," she said, tilting her head. Her short brunette hair framed her face perfectly, and her blood-red eyes glared into John's eyes, "Look at you, Vampire King. Weak and defenceless." She let go of his chin and strolled around him, "I waited for this moment. Bringing down the vampire race, and I am going to make you watch as they suffer for what they are and what they have done!" She kicked the back of his knee. He hissed in pain as his knee went down, pulling on his burning wrist tied by the chain. John snapped his eyes open, and they widened in shock when he saw all his council members and elders tied up like him and were as weak as him. He turned his head, trying to look at her, but she stood behind him, "Let them go! It is me that you want!" He growled. "Tsk, have you forgotten," she roughly grabbed his hair and pulled it to make his head tilt to have a good look at him. "It's because of the whole race. I want to see you fall just as my village has. I'll give them a good slow death as for you, son. Your death will be my greatest pleasure of all deaths." She said with venom laced in her voice. She let go of his head and walked away, "Enjoy the show!" "Mother! Mother!" John roared angrily as he tried pulling on the chains, but his effects were pointless. "REBEKAH!" His calls echoed in the dark hallways as she disappeared into a different room. She entered a well-lit room that looked like a laboratory. There were people at their table working as she walked by them. She approached a young man in his mid-twenties. He had an orangeed curly afro and forest green eyes. Beside him was a young woman in her early twenties. She had dark dreadlocks decorated with colourful strings and beads, and her chocolate brown eyes glanced at the vampire. "Rebekah," she said. "Coral," the vampire nods to her and then the guy. "Mark... What do we have?" She asked. He looked up, "We made some samples for poisons, but we are still to test them out." He said, then glanced at Coral. "I can perfect it with my magic and one last ingredient, but I don't know if we can find it," she said, shrugging. "What is this ingredient? I can make it happen," Rebekah said boldly, rolling her eyes. Coral sighed, "From the books I've gathered, they state that the blood of a God can not only give power as a blessing but also take it as punishment. So we need someone who at least shares blood with a God, and I've heard of a werewolf Queen claiming to be the daughter of a Goddess. Maybe her blood can work." "But she's a wolf, not a vampire!" Mark argued, rolling his eyes. Coral glared at him, "Well, we found traces of wolf venom in those poisoned by the blood. Didn't we not!?" Before they could continue their argument, Rebekah stepped in, "Don't worry about the blood. I'll handle it for you two. Begin testing, and if you need more vampires, I know where they are hiding." ~*~*~* Far off in other worlds, surrounded by white fluffy clouds where spirits of wolves roam or lay on them. It was peaceful and calm as the goddess watched her lovelies as someone stood there waiting for her to say something. He was very much alive in this heaven. He was in his mid-twenties, with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was only one odd person in this white heaven, wearing all black, his leather jacket, top, jeans, and boots. "It's a wonderful day," she sang, still having her back facing him. "I guess," he muttered, shrugging his shoulders slightly and having a straight face. The Goddess sensed his negativity. She rolled her eyes and turned to face him. "Jay, are you still upset about you killing your mate or me killing your lover?" She asked, and she grinned when she saw him clenching his jaw. "She needed to pay as much as her sister had. I thought she would be the one to rule in my place. But she had to fall in love with my creation and get too involved. At least better than a human fisherman," she said the last word in disgust. He looked away, "I don't want to talk about it..." He murmured, feeling anger boiling within him. "Well, thank you once again for involving me because I would have had trouble with the other gods, but the damage has been done, and the werewolves are okay... For now," When she did that, Jay glanced at her as she walked towards the pool in the centre of the platform. "What are you talking about?" He asked, but she ignored him and stared down into the pool. He growled under his breath and stalked towards the Goddess, "what do you mean?" She sighed, still gazing at the pool, "A race must fall for payment to death because there was a change in destinies. I had to do what must be done. My daughter's life was a greater pay to death and some lives of werewolves who were part of the Lycan brother war, but death is still angry, but it always is. Anyway, the children of night are on the edge of death, and all they need is the blood of a god to end them." "Why are you suddenly interested?" He shrugged. "Because my blood is in the world, Laura is my granddaughter, and she has my blood. I want you to ensure she is hidden somewhere with her children, or else I'll be in more boiling water with the Gods. If you fail to do so, I'll have no choice but to have her life and her children's lives taken away from them." Why can't you protect them yourself!?" "Because gods are forbidden to have demi-god offspring, they may know about Laura. I don't know, but anyone with a half-god offspring must kill that child because there's been a history of trouble when it came to demi-gods. Even if I were to hide them, the others wouldn't be happy about that." She grabbed Jay's wrist and narrowed her gaze at him. "I don't want to lose my power or be tripped up in some hellhole. You warn and protect them. You have three months." "Have you forgotten I'm wanted for murder?" She grinned, "No..." She pulled his wrist, causing him to stumble into the pool. "You have three months!" She yelled and chuckled.
