The Powerful Luna

Chapter 1

I sniff the air, what is that smell?

I can’t quite put my finger on it. 

Yesterday was my 17th birthday and I shifted for the first time the very moment that I could,I did, my wolf was beautiful, a misty gray fur with bright green eyes, green eyes that match my human eyes but I have a few gold flecks in my human eyes. I have long dark brown slightly wavy hair that is currently tied in tight bun. I am at training at the moment waiting for my turn to fight. 

I sniff the air again. I have been smelling it randomly since yesterday, it is sweet smelling and highly intoxicating.

“Jade”

Alpha Axel growls at me. He must’ve already said it a couple of times to speak like that to me. I bow my head, and absent and mindedly say.

“Sorry Alpha”

“Are you ready?”

He replies, his voice softening. I nod and enter the ring. It has been like this for a year. As Beta female I have only been allowed to train against Axel or the packs Beta, Jasper my brother. 

Axel tells me that there is no point training against the others. You only get strong by fighting the strongest I think he is just being over protective.

But I wont argue with him, I am the strongest she-wolf in the pack. Probably in most packs. Well I should say my human is, my wolf being so new needs training. But starting as a strong human my wolf is still a lot stronger than others. 

I try and concentrate. But I am so distracted by that smell. What is it?

Suddenly a booming growl. Alpha Axel speaks.

“Everyone leave……now”

All the wolves around bow there heads in a show of respect and leave as requested. I start to step out of the ring.

“Not you Jade, we still have to train.”

I nod and try hard to concentrate, I look at his feet and realise he is running at me. He takes a swing, I sidestep, only just, the blow still hitting my shoulder. I wince in pain but soon recover.

Trying so hard to concentrate.

“Jade”

I can’t stop looking at the ground. That smell, it surrounds me taking me over. His second blow connects hard into my stomach causing me double over in pain, as I do this I realise he is coming at me again. 

Concentrate Jade, you are going to get the beat down of your life if you don’t focus.

I side step again. My eyes meet his as my leg connects with his side. I hear ribs breaking under my foot as I stare right into his eyes. 

A flash in his eyes. 

An unknown lust creeps over me. A need engulfs me. He smiles at me, completely unphased by the ribs that I know would've healed by now. 

He knew.

He has been waiting for me to work it out for myself. 

Axel is my mate. 

“Mine”

We say in unison. My eyes widen. I am shocked I take a step back. His eyes still fixed on me he walks towards me his arms outstretched. I don't know what to do, I don't know what to say. I turn and shift to my wolf in a blink of an eye, my clothes shredding around me and I run. My wolf takes me quickly and easily to the edge of the trees. I run and I just keep running, thoughts swirling wildly around my head.

It all make sense now. Axel has known for nearly a year. All the growling when anyone touched me the constant body guards at school. 

The training, the countless hours training, broken bones and aching muscles. He was making sure I was the best Luna I could be. 

I sigh realizing that I am going to be Luna.

Being Luna is so much responsibility. Am I up to the task? Can I be someone that people look up to can I help run the pack?

I don’t even understand, I saw him yesterday and this morning, how did I not know.

Probably my usual disobedient self not paying enough attention.That smell. I mustn’t have looked him in the eyes trying to hard to work to out what the smell was. I can't believe I didn't know, why didn't he just tell me? We have always been close, growing up together. He should have just told me. Why this big show? I could have been prepared.

I stop running as I see the river. I lay down beside it and pant. The moon glimmers off the gentle current of the river. I smell it again, that scent, I know that Axel is approaching, his wolf has a bag in its mouth. He goes behind a tree and shifts, hurriedly getting dressed. 

I do the same when he finishes. I walk toward him uncertain. Is that hurt I see in his eyes, me running off the way I did. 

If it is then he doesn’t show it. He walks towards me and cradles my cheek in his hand. He smiles at me.

“My mate, my Luna, I have been waiting so long for this”

I feel the tingle at his touch. He pulls me into his arms I breath deeply into his chest, taking in that amazing smell. It makes me weak at the knees. But the electricity between us has my body at full alert. I look up at him. He looks down at me smiling. I take a step back and take a swipe at his arm.

“Really Axel why didn’t you just tell me, Why all the theatrics?”

He smiles mischievously.

“I didn’t want you take my word for it, I wanted you to find out for yourself”

I shake my head and roll my eyes. Trust him to play these types of games. We have grown up together. He has always had my back. He takes me is his arms again and whispers.

“I can't believe it has taken you nearly 2 days to look in to my eyes”

I laugh into his chest and just breathe, that smell it is driving my wolf insane. I look up at him again. He bends down and kisses me slowly at first, then harder as the need grows deep inside me. I look at his eyes black with desire. I feel his canines elongate. 

He breathes deeply to control him self. 

He whispers in my ear again.

“That desire you feel right now”

I nod again as he whispers

“Imagine feeling that for nearly a year, whenever your close, whenever we are training, whenever we are snuggled up on the couch watching movies”

I can't even imagine feeling that way, it must’ve taken everything he had to not let his wolf out. Its been 1 hour and I am struggling to hold my wolf. I just need him so badly.

He waited until I had the same sensation as he did. Until I knew that he was the one for me, No questions asked. The deep respect and care I feel coming from him.

“I can wait no longer”

He growls picking me up roughly and pressing my back hard against a tree. 

With one swift movement he rips my clothes off. The tattered piece then get thrown to the ground. I lift his shirt over his head breathing hard. I am always around him and close to him but I have never noticed his muscles in so much detail. I trail a finger down his arm feeling a shiver run through my body. He lowers his pants and steps out of them, Our naked bodies press together I feel the fireworks between our skin. The heat of our bodies radiating.

He rubs his fingers over me, down my thigh and then up my inner thigh, he smiles when he feels how aroused I am. His fingers linger there, working their magic. His eyes turn black again his teeth elongate again, he is no longer able to control the wolf, he howls at the moon, the sound is immense, I am sure that the entire pack could have heard it. I feel like have never wanted anything so much in my life. I bare my neck to him where my mark is to be.

“Is this what you want?”

His voice is so deep and animalistic, I know that his wolf is barely contained just below the surface,I look into his stunning blue eyes that seem almost luminescent in the moon light. It is not like I have never thought of being with Axel,he is unbelievably handsome, he is kind,caring, protective, strong. He is everything. It is just that I have never thought that I am close to good enough to be with him, so I haven’t entertained the idea for too long.

“I do”

I would be an i***t to not accept him because he is amazing and I would never go against the moon goddesses will, if she thinks I am up to the task of being Luna, who am I to argue. It never crossed my mind to reject my mate, no matter who it was, the fact that I got blessed with Axel just makes it so much better.

He bites down at the same that he thrusts up inside me. It feels like I have been hit by lightning every nerve ending is tingling. I whimper at the pain shooting down my shoulder and the pleasure unfolding inside my body. He thrusts in and out his movements getting frenzied. I cant control myself. I climax bearing my teeth and biting down hard marking him.

He growls in pleasure, we finish together. He holds me in a tight embrace and gently lowers me back to my feet. I stand there in his tight embrace breathing deeply in awe of what I had just experienced.

I slowly push him away and look at my tattered pile of clothes. I look at him and a smiles sheepishly.

“Yeah sorry about that part”

I giggle and shrug, I guess I am stuck being naked, hmm 2 sets of clothes destroyed in a day that is a new record.

I sit on the bank of the river he sits behind me a leg on either side of me his big arms around my neck pulling me close to him. I sink back into his chest and he suddenly whispers.

‘I am really sorry about this, It will be okay, I am here.”

I whip around and look straight into his eyes not understanding. He looks down sadly at me holding me tight. What is he talking about? Then I feel it, a slight stabbing pain in my shoulder where my mark is, then it increases. Spreading through my entire body. I look at him scared.

What is happening to me?

He looks down at me looking sad, not wanting to see me hurt. 

Keeping me close in his steely embrace. 

I suddenly scream, the pain is intense. Like 1000 hot knives stabbing me. I feel my muscles snap my bones break. I look into his eyes pleading him to help me. 

He shakes his head and just keeps repeating 

“it will be alright” 

If it wasn’t for him holding me I would be thrashing on the ground. I writhe in agony, it was like the pain it felt to shift for the first time yesterday only a thousand times worse. 

My heart is racing I feel like it is going to jump out of my chest. Just as soon as the pain appeared it disappeared. I stared at Axel wide eyed. He said

“Do you feel that?”

I do, the power coursing through my body. He whispers.

“Welcome Luna of the opal moon pack”

He kisses my forehead as my vision starts to blur. The pain was too much and the power feels like it is reconstructing me. I black out.
